Rome wasn't built in a day, patience my dear boy. Making memes takes time

I could tell you that TDA had the 2nd highest offensive xGAR among all defenseman this season while also being 4th in ES points among defenseman but I suppose a statistic like expected goals might just be fake and absolute horseshit to you and instead, points are all that matters.

Yes, and Tkachuk is still young enough that they can weather a rebuild.
If they tear it down though they will really clean house and have kylingtom, Anderson, valimaki, dube, and MT. Other than that they will be starting over everywhere. That's a tough go, but JG is all but gone and moving him out is the first step to a rebuild/retool

then he would be an incredible trade chip if they decided to in that direction

The thing that stands out to me is ADA’s ES production.

There’s a huge difference in value between being a PP specialist versus someone that’s capable of producing a dangerous amount of points without a man advantage.

Then you start sprinkling In some other aspects of Tony’s game, like the edge he plays with, the willingness to drop his gloves and stick up for his teammates (On and Off the Ice, which I respect), and the fact that he’s still relatively raw.

He’s not just a playmaker either. Tony can shoot the f*** out of the puck. But he’s a clever shooter too.

He might not have the cannon Trouba has, but he sees lanes very well and gets his shots through from the point.

I understand the Criticism and Doubt Tony gets from outsiders on this forum. They simply haven’t watched much of him to know what the hell they’re talking about. Half those dummies think he’s purely a PP leach, lol..

But to hear the asinine attempts to try and devalue ADA from a legitimate Rangers fan? That’s someone who clearly has a personal dislike for the kid. It’s honestly reminiscent of Jova/Trouba.

Trouba has a cannon but it doesn't matter because he never actually gets a shot through to the net. His shot selection is abhorrent. I'd rather have a guy with a smart shot from the point rather than just a hard shot. Players like Weber and even though he's a F, Ovechkin for example aren't great at shooting the puck just because they have absolute bombs, but because their accuracy is also very good.

IMO the best course of action for the Flames is to dive head-first into a rebuild like we did. Gaudreau, Monahan, Brodie, Giordano, etc.

Head-first carries a bit of a negative connotation. The Rangers turned over the last go-for-it roster starting with summer of 2017 - three years ago.

I think I’m more interested in E Lindholm than Monahan. Buch + Georgiev

At which point a Strome for Brodin deal makes sense.

Which then leads to a need for a RW. Mantha would fit a style the team needs more of.

And what roster hole you’d create to acquire Mantha?

I would honestly rather have Staal than the extra year of Rask, and would rather have Buchnevich than Greenway

I considered Minnesota retaining like 1M on Rask but I'd rather err on the anti-Rangers side than the homer side when making a fake trade.

And I would much rather have Brodin than Carolina's 1st.

Brodin only has 1 year left before UFA so while his value is a big part of the trade it's not like he's a blue chip asset.

Yeah, I was balancing out the other comment. If you split the trade into three segments, and two of them favour Minnesota, the last one should favour the Rangers.

But even with those segments each one is debatable. Rask makes less than Staal and fills a role that we can use. I might hate his game after 1 game with us but in theory he could be the 3c. Greenway is a Quinn guy and is a unique package. After the Carolina series they said they didn't like that we played emotionally with our physical response. I feel like Buchnevich was a culprit there. Greenway has a lot more years of cost control. I like Buchnevich, just saying it's not cut and dry in his favor just because he is the more established player today.

Despite 31’s informative post, I don’t necessarily disagree with you here.

Trouba’s shots are hard and heavy, but usually end up right in the goalies chest.

@EdJovanovski gets frustrated because Trouba has an 8M cap hit and doesn’t have the wits to sometimes drag the puck on the blue line and flicker in a deceptive and hard to track shot like Tony (and Fox) have shown.

Trouba also is a split second slower, and less effective moving the puck under pressure than ADA and Fox. He has his Staal/Girardi moments where he cheats off the boards and usually ices the puck or turns it over.

@EdJovanovski, I understand a lot of your frustration with Trouba, and despite his salary, he’s not cut from the same cloth as ADA. They are different dmen.

This is Trouba:

He’s big, strong, masculine, and f***ing hairy!

There aren’t many players in the league that’ll make him his bitch. He’s also entering a phase in his life that a lot of athletes start excelling - mid/late 20’s.

My 26/31 year old self would beat the absolute shit out of my 20-25 self or 32-40 self. I can’t explain it. There’s just a surge Of Man-Strength that gets triggered those years where you feel like the most Apex Predator on the f***ing planet.

I think Trouba has some big years ahead of him, especially if we can find him a competent LD partner.
