Stepan had to go because of NMC/NTC so we could give Smith a longterm contract with a NTC.

I am a little concerned about Smith for several reasons, and have been from the get to. I think he is OK, but he came in to a team that was pretty solid and got pretty easy shifts and did alright. He doesn’t produce offensively and he isn’t great defensively — and I don’t at all like the fact that he is a LHS on the right side. That is worthless especiallly on the PK, meaning that we preferably need another RHS stay at home D to PK on the roster. I definitely don’t think Gorton would have signed Smith had he known he was getting Shatty.

With that said — I don’t think we are locked up with Smith. We should be able to move him.

Also — I don’t think moving Stepan has anything to do with our blue line. We need more speed and edge from our top centers than we can get from Zibanejad and Stepan. I think it’s fairly pointless to discuss the merits of the Stepan trade today, our side of the return is all futures. But I am very confident that it was a good move, JMO.

Only cap hit reasons @Ola - nothing to do with the blueline as u mention though so I agree with that reasoning.

If Julien is going to keep dicking around Galchenyuk, I’d be interested in exploring that trade option. They’ll probably trade him for Duchene.

I don't like Larry, but who would have thought he would be one of the people leading the uprising against AV haha

Yeah, and I kind of agree with Ori. AV played Staal-McD as his shutdown pair, I think sometimes with these terms we assign them different meaning and what not, but to me the pair AV gives the toughest minutes can definitely be described as a shut down pairing. JMHO.

Yeah I'm okay with it. I'm getting pretty sick of Shatts getting beat wide 2-3 times a game.

They need to switch to zone. It will be a long season if they don't. This is a team that will score on the PP and struggle 5v5. If they aren't flawless at 5v5....Well Dahlin's a Frolunda boy... we got one franchise guy that was a Frolunda boy... why not another?

For starters..Give me..
Kreider-Zbad-Buch
Nash-Miller-Zucca
As the top two lines.
There's no arguing that they're a very competent top six..

How many teams are interested in a third pair D making 2nd pair $ with an NTC and who shows up to camp out of shape?

I think that if the Rangers have a bad couple of games this weekend against Columbus and Jersey, we start to see AV's seat get hot. Just a gut feeling that I have no sources or inside information on.

I`m not feeling well - I bleed a little after toilet visit. I called the doctor, but she said it could be normal. (
If anything serious - would I get fever from it any here experience?

This isn't anything to do with roster building, but it sounds like it could be a hemorrhoid. Avoid caffeine and alcohol, anti inflammatory meds like Motrin and Advil for the time being to be safe. Go to your doctor later and they'll have a look at it

What would we even give for Duchene? I feel like whatever we give can't be worth it, since it's likely centered on a good roster player.

I'd trade Hayes and any prospect not named Chytil, Andersson, or Shestyorkin.

I'm ready to sell on Hayes. He's not going to be worth the contract he'll be looking for.

Trading for Duchene will still take a decently sized package around Hayes. Salary consideration too.

Also, Duchene's next contract is going to be...wew.
