Can you remind me how they separate the play of Trouba and Miller? It just seems like adding subjectivity and making it less reliable.

Trouba does some boneheaded things with the puck but at least he can defend. Miller does everything passively. Except poke check

The way this season is going, it sure will be the last hoorah for this group.

This core of vets needs to be dismantled. Zibanejad is playing his way out of NY.
Where is he going? Doesn't he have a NMC?
Hey buying him out only costs us like 7.8 million for the next 10 years lol

Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba. Their NMC's expire this summer. 15 team no trade list for both players. Three more seasons for Kreider. Two more seasons for Trouba. Which player would you trade?

I would trade Kreider. I know he is a home-grown Ranger. Goal scoring record. Open up a LW spot in the top 6. Panarin isn't going anywhere for the next two seasons.

Trouba is the only Ranger who likes to play a physical game. The Rangers are already a soft team.

The Rangers are stale. Drury needs to make major moves reshaping the team. Summer time moves.

He's not going anywhere but the organization needs to have the sack to make him a really expensive defensive 3rd line center, because thats clearly all he wants to be. Maybe he wants out if we trade Kreider? That's what really needs to happen. 13 years here and he "didnt want" to be Captain, so we gave it to a mercenary Cro-Magnon Trouba? We've shouldve known something wasnt right then.

I wouldn't trade kreider, but i would split him from Zibanejad. He works harder when he isn't playing with him, not sure if it's him trying to get back on his line or if he just lets Zibs do all the skating but he plays a better game with Trochek. I'd call up Rempe, i mean with Bonino and Pitlick what are we clinging to? Rempe is younger, bigger and will actually hit someone.

Next game should be

Kreider Trochek Kakko
Panarin Zibanejad Lafreniere
Cuylle Brodzinski Wheeler
Vesey Goodrow Rempe

Why would you change the lines?!?! They got a point against the worst team in the league.

The solution is obviously to scratch Kakko and give Wheeler another shot at the first line.

Kreider pretty easily. We have Othmann ready to take his spot and we could get more for Kreider, hopefully a good young player.

keep Kreid
deal Troub
Kreid overall produces better and is cheaper = greater value
even if not every minute of every shift, still brings beast factor
Troub is a beast but has more issues w/his game

Zibanejad has a NMC and I fear there's no way they'll be able to move him. Will he want to leave his lover? Rangers may have missed their window when they missed out on Eichel.

That and we shouldve ponied up for Tkachuk when he was available. Diamond hands on these prospects that have not amounted to much.

In hindsight, knowing this organization's reluctance to develop youth, yes, I agree. But at the time we should've also been playing Laf and Kakko top-6 mins from the get go. This organization hasn't won in 80 years because they do the same thing time and time again no matter the GM. 94 was different because they had no cap to worry about and their core had guts, led by the greatest leader in sports history. He willed them to that Cup, and since then, has been alienated by the organization. This team will never win. I am convinced of it.

Trouba has (2) years left with $6m due each year. Kreider has 3 years left with $5m due each year. Both deals were frontloaded. I'd move Trouba but there needs to be a plan in place to:
1) play Kreider away from Zibanejad @ 5v5
2) Facilitate the acquisition of more players who play with some passion and an edge. Not just a 4th line player.

Why did I stay up until 1:30 last night? As soon as the Sharks got that first one I knew where things were headed.

Joe LITERALLY said in the pre-game that this will be a win, and they go out and lose a 2 goal lead to the worst team in the league. OOOF.

Listen, they need some secondary scoring other than Bread, Trocheck and the PP.

Mika is a 20ish point even strength player without the PP points. That's not going to cut it and its a problem (especially considering hes not a secondary scorer, he's their "first" line center)

I’ve loved the way Laf has played but he hasn’t finished. He's at an unsustainably low shooting %, but dammit just put one in here and there. Its so frustrating with the chances he gets every game. He could easily have 20 the way hes played and the complexion of a lot of these games change.

Kakko hasn’t provided a thing offensively. Yes, he's still trying to find his way back but he's falling into the same bad habits with the puck. His attack confidence is zero and its an issue, because they need his puck possession skills, even if hes not putting pucks into the net. Tough to see that again.

It’s hard to put blame on them only. Vesey has been silent after a strong start. Goodrow and Bonino have provided zero offensively the entire year, you cant even expect 5-6 measly goals from them combined through the reg season. A combined 2 goals and 10 points over 90 games. If they cant give the team a little scoring depth at least go out there and take the body a little bit. The stupid NHL Stat page isnt working again but I guarantee Bonino is at the bottom of the team in checks. As he was before he was brought in here. He doesnt take the body. When you are in a funk you need to manufacture some shit on the lower lines. This team isnt fit for the playoffs in that regard, AT ALL.

Wheeler is a shell of himself and cant handle the puck, but hes actually contributed a little. Cuylle has had a good rookie year, hits everything in sight and should be on pace for about 18, so you cant put blame on him. Brodz was the leading AHL scorer scoring over a point per game when he came up and his offensive game just doesn’t translate at this level. Its just not there. They haven't had any secondary scoring.

Dont get me started on The D. Its not in a good place. The decision making with the puck has been really bad as of late

They arent getting timely saves. In fact, its just the opposite

When you have all of these things happening simultaneously its leads to a BIG time funk

I heard multiple players referencing the break in these postgames. Its easy to see where their head is at. This is reminding me of the team meltdown at the beginning of last year before Trouba threw the helmet. They are a very weird club that seems to be a collective head case when things start to snowball on them. Adversely, when things are going well they take off. Its more extreme than most teams. Wildly inconsistent and its the entire core sans Bread and Trocheck this year.

I think we’ll see Chytil after the break. Team could use a week off. If things dont turn around we may see some changes… just dont think they have the room to do enough. Trading a guy like Miller isn't going to address their needs for the present or the future.

I am done now. Even the fans can all use a week off at this point.

Vesey is stuck playing with not only Goodrow but Bonino too. That's on the coach. Play Pitlick. That line looked good for a stretch before the Pitlick injury. This new fourth line is slow and provides zero offense. They have too many bottom-six players in lineup that provide nothing.

He can't. Everything shows he can't.

Don't know why we are still clinging to this delusion.

He's like a 6D right now.

If we were smart, we could pawn him off on some other unsuspecting and inattentive GM this offseason for a first.
