Still like the Rangers to consider Henrique. Can play wing or C and in all situations. If it knocks one of Bonino, Wheeler, Or Goodrow down or out of the line up, it’s a win.

My confidence in Kakko is pretty much done. Still have hope for Laf though.

It’s obviously time to make the Zibanejad 2.0 deal in sending him back to Ottawa for Josh Norris

They have five forwards producing as expected or better - Panarin, Kreider, Trocheck, Vesey, and Cuylle. The rest suck. That's it. That's the problem. No coach is gonna coach his way out of that. Laffs been better but he needs to start producing actual goals.

we've played almost 50 games. How about changing up the lines and pairs? Nahh thats too much, why try anything? Wouldn't want to ruffle any feathers, our 15 Alternate captains are our "leadership core" and whatver they want goes. Just keep slamming your head against the wall.

Not saying its magic. But its the only option we have. Can't trade anyone significant, cant acquire anybody significant, won't fire the coach this early. Try SOMETHING.
If it were a matchup thing, an in game adjustment or if the coach were just trying to wake guys up, I'm all for it. But the forward problem is beyond that at the moment. They don't have enough talent in the bottom six, Laff and Kakko literally cannot score and Zib is an absolute mess. Do you think a different linemate is going to fix that?

You wanna put Kreider with Trocheck and Zib with Panarin or whatever, sure but you're still essentially going to end up with a one line team. You're just adjusting deck chairs on the Titantic or whatever that saying is.

I know we are short on options and cap-space, but Leschyshyn has not and will not be the answer or helpful in anyway.
If you're worried that someone isn't right to go, call up a younger player and actually play them so that the player who was a game time decision gets a rest. It won't hurt the kid, and it might even provide some insights as to what they'll look like at NHL level.

It's not 'risk avoidance' as such, but this organization is so scared of doing anything that wouldn't be found in "Running a hockey team: 101" that they limit what may be possible so much; and it's very infuriating at times...

If it's a center thing, I don't know who else they could have called up. Edstrom is hurt, Nash is hurt, Brodz is already here (and I'm ready for him to no longer be here.)

Edstrom would have probably been that guy, but he's been out for a month (not sure exactly what the deal is there.)

If it's a salary cap thing, they just need to say f*** it and call up someone who can play so if thats the case, I agree with you.

I'm convinced that NHL GMs/Coaches push for or do shit like this because they don't want to deal with the noise that would follow if they call up a younger guy and he grossly outplays some of the trusty veterans. We have a couple of reallllllly shitty ones who the coach seems to love who are worse than some of the players we have in Hartford.

I can see your point but IMO even that is limited/timid thinking. Don't have a center for a game or two? Try someone else there and see how it goes. We already know that Leschyshyn isn't an NHL center, so playing someone else 'out of position' there doesn't really cost us anything.
Could Laf be capable? He's already shown he can play on his opposite wing
What's the worst that happens if Vesey plays 9 mins of center for a game?

They won't be brilliant at it, but it's not some arcane art that wingers can't understand, and it allows you to look at other players in other positions as well

Jake Leshitshow.

Guy has Rongos DNA.

Guy who absolutely sucks at everything and has no upside whatsover, dinosaurs like Laviolette love guys like him.

Edstrom plays an amazing game, never gets another sniff. Othmann has strong debut, gets benched immediately and doesn't get another real shot.

Lesuck shits his pants up and down the ice for a couple games, Lavi and the boys have him on speed dial when they need a new body.

I hate this organization.

From a defensive standpoint, theres a big difference to playing wing, where you're floating and covering the point/points, to center where you're much more engaged defensively.
I dont think Laf was ever a center in Junior.
If he was even slightly faster, I'd actually say Kakko at center, since he did it in a mens league at 18.

Vesey is where he belongs honestly. Theres no need to bump him up.

There is a need to give him a better pair of players to play with but thats another conversation entirely.

I don't disagree with this but they won't do it.

I don't know many teams who will either. They're all about putting guys in positions that they play/have played before.

It's dumb, but it is what it is.
