When was the last time someone scored a rebound goal? Especially at ES.

Unfortunately Kakko should be that guy but his development as a scorer has tanked big time. I'm not aware of his offseason routine or anything but imo he could use a summer of working with staff on finding his skill level and footspeed again. Othmann, Sykora, and Berard are all future options.

What's crazy to me is how amazing he looked in the preseason.

Preseason can be so deceiving. I mean look at Quick. He had a terrible preseason and then won, what, his first 9 games?

The problem is that Kakko is basically being looked at and depended on to fix that line, but he’s just not good enough to do so. At the same time he has never been the problem on it either.

The last time Zibanejad looked good at 5v5 was when Buchnevich was there making sure Kreider didn’t have to carry the line on his own.

Believe it or not it was Fox. We need a d man to do it. Our forwards are not gonna wanna take that kind of punishment with exception of maybe Cuylle/Trocheck.

Which is why I think there's something that's addressable going on.

Lookit, yes, maybe he's not turning into 80 point all star Kakko, but at 21 he far outproduced what our current first line All Star Chris Kreider was producing.

I wouldn't be willing to throw that in that in the trash yet. We desperately need young top 6 forward talent. If we are trading him for Zegras, then we can talk.

This team doesn't shoot for rebounds though. The low percentage shot that misses the net aka the kreider special is the way for this group.

it was against the Sharks first goal of game but your point is a good one.
First of all it was a dman not a forward and it happens so infrequently with this team. I'm hoping with the new crop of forwards coming like Berard and Sykora things might change but who knows.

Prefer KAM with Fox and Gus with Trouba. I guess it’s a start.

honestly as long as a Cuylle- Chytil- Kakko line gets a chance I'm ok with it. I think we know no one will produce on the RW with Zib and CK especially Kakko.
