don't know much about this guy but I'm always wondering what hidden gem might be available to snatch out of the KHL. Worth the risk imo.

KHL season ends in late February I believe, just before the NHL deadline.

he appears to be a wing and have a very high shooting percentage. I wouldn't be opposed to it but I'm not sure he's going to miraculously help the team right away

Is there any reason why hes on the radar? Im not seeing anything linking us to him

It'll be like all the other KHL deals where it expires 5/1 or 6/1 I think. You'd have to negotiate with them to let him leave the contract early, even if the season is over.

Would be a move for next season most likely. With the uncertainty around Kakko's future and looking at the other young guys to try and push their way up, could be a nice stop gap at least. It'd be a 1 year ELC based on age and he's going to want to have a role that will get him paid.

Makes me think he's going to go to a team on a rebuild where he'll get PP1 chances and could be a all-situation player.

never heard of Kyle Hall before so it's probably a nothingburger. I would've liked if the Rangers had signed Ilya Mikheyev out of the KHL a few years back though. This Maxim guy could just end up being another Gusev or Shipachyov.

Thanks. I expect nothing but it at least shows the Drury Administration is trying to get creative to improve the team within their cap constraints.

Looking into next season let's just assume those 6 are coming back, whether they play together or not.

Kreider -Ziabnejad - Kakko
Panarin-Trocheck-Laf

That leaves Cuylle and Chytill in top 9 with Othmann? Vesey w/ 2 open spots on the 4th unless the post office returns Goodrow.

There's not a lot of available positions keeping this same group. Ideally I'd like to see the bottom 2 with Vesey be much more competent players than Bonino and current Goodrow. So if we're making some deadline trade w/ term we're going to have to say goodbye to somebody. Kakko probably draws the short stick unless his season turns around from a production standpoint.

Unfortunately, moving out Kakko doesn't fix what's ailing this core. Our rebuild left us a stillbirth.

Hall is not the only one linking him to NYR. The NYR are in fact interested. Issue is Boston, Toronto and Wings also knocking on door, and Boston is better than we are.

Better doesn't really matter here, I'm sure he want to play ASAP.

Wings may be the ones to worry about. They can give him that opportunity.

Even if he doesnt sign here, I'm glad that they haven't completely neglected Russia. It took them forever to go back there after the Cherepanov situation and I was worried that the Kravtsov era would do the same (seriously, f*** that guy.)

I just don't see those 5 being moved this season unless they request it, obviously. That takes up nearly half the spots.

Not my point. It's completely unrealistic to move all six guys. I wasn't suggesting that. However, I'd be happy if they were able to move one of those guys not named Laffy or Panarin. Honestly even that's overstating it. The guy that needs to go is Zib & we're f***ing stuck with him.

Howdy all,
Wonder if we could find the basis of a deal with the Rangers and Sens around Chychrun?

Chychrun LD $4.6 this year and next.

- Schneider RD (RFA) going to get between 2.5-4 based on contract length?
- Goodrow 3 years left at $3.6 you could get his money off the books. He’s also the kind of veteran Ottawa is looking to add.
I don’t expect offence, I expect grit, effort, and character on our 4th line and we’d eat that salary to make the deal work.

Seems like you have Fox and captain Trouba ahead of him on the right side, and that you could use a puck moving offensive guy on the left.
Chychrun is on a great contract this year and next, then could sign longterm with the Rangers.

Thoughts?

Theres something there if you take on Lindgren or Miller instead of Schneider

It's hard to make a deal with the Senators because they have too many people on defense and the Rangers also have too many people on defense.

Not too many good people, just too many people making too many money.
