He’s not awful he’s just a body that’s kinda around. Same with Bonino and Pitlick

Not sure why we are surprised they had to get cheap bodies with no cap space and have held the Fort
I rather give cheap younger players with a possibility of an NHL future in those spots. Most teams would play Edstrom over a scrub like Brodzinski and Nash

Next year yes add just like Cuylee is this season

Edstrom is hurt or he probably would be in for a longer look

Othmaan will replace Wheeler next season

This year they are adding vets let’s be real

We’re not a threat to anyone with Igor playing league average.
Thats true, but if he can (somehow) get hot in the playoffs we has as good as a chance as anyone this year. As OP said, no team really stands out this season, so far at least. I expect Drury to make a couple of trades that will help the team, I will be shocked if we keep our 1st this year.

Drury needs to get creative imo. I wouldn’t trade top picks or prospects for rentals but I’m open to hockey trades. The team probably needs a couple moves for me to change how I feel about them but it would also require a change in style and attitude. The East is wide open, but it was also wide open for them last year and they shit down their leg. Players, GM, coach all have to show me.

Who? Almost all teams that have Cup aspirations add at the deadline. It might not be a mega-add but it's always something - depth players, etc...
And usually if it’s a depth player it’s kinda just a “I believe in you” message from the gm

People laugh but he’s a big part of the magic that was that ECF run. I remember that game 1 against Pittsburgh he was flying and hitting everything that moved right from the first shift, he set the tone for the playoffs. Our team has no swagger
Then just bring up Rempe, does the same thing only he's a useful player. Reaves did what was needed at the time but he's old, washed up even by.his standards and should never be spoken of in regards to a trade again lol

Also, not directed at you but Why are people talking about tearing the team down, holy hell, insane. I agree some pieces are needed and some need to be moved out but imo you need to add not subtract.

It would be funny if Knoblauch won the Cup with Edmonton after the Rangers hired Gallant and Laviolette rather than give Knoblauch an opportunity. He doesn't roll out the pucks and allow Connor to do whatever he wants, The Rangers will be pursuing Knoblauch in 3 or 4 seasons waiting for the Oilers to fire him.

Things started out so well for the Rangers. The injuries hurt. The team is not playing well. You can count on one hand the number of players having good seasons. The trade deadline is coming. The Rangers fortunes aren't changing with a few rental players assuming they have the cap space.

I wanted Knob as first choice

This core is on it's 3rd coaching staff.

Show me an organization that purposefully derailed back to back #1 and #2 overall pick's development and won a Stanley Cup because PP unit rank. Show me one Stanley Cup champion in the last 2 decades that didn't have their high picks leading their team to a Cup and in several instances multiple Cups. Show me one instance where a bunch of mercenaries won a championship in the NHL.

The closest thing you'll find is the Vegas Golden Knights. One Cup in NHL history since the advent of the draft. Certainly not in my lifetime.

Rangers don't get it, and never will, that they're not winning jack shit until their #1 and #2 overall picks are leading the way. Like 99.99999999% of every championship team has done.

Zibanejad, Trocheck, Panarin, Nash, Brassard, Richards, Gomez, Drury, Jagr, Robitaille, Bure, Fleury, Lindros, Nedved, Holik... an endless list of mercenaries at the expense of draft picks and young players, throwing shit against the wall hoping for something to stick long enough to win. It hasn't happened and it'll never happen.

They got gifted Laf and Kakko. Those are the guys that should have been given the car keys and got every single opportunity in every situation until they became the dominant team leaders and everyone else was the supporting cast. Like every other championship and multi-time championship franchise has done before. Rangers got gifted by the league arguably at the time the most high profile #1 pick since Crosby and they've handled him like a late 2nd or 3rd rounder "earn it rook" for his ice time and it's still years later "earn it kid" for any PP time. And then people in the same breath stat watch the Stutzle, Hughes, Bedard all of them racking up PP points and getting 20 minutes a night in all situations. While our guy sits there on the bench as a spectator and watches Nick f***ing Bonino get as much ice time in the first 2 periods against Seattle the other night. And then we wonder why we have one Cup in 80+ years.

Nobody has won a Cup doing it the "Rangers way" and the Rangers never will either. Matter of fact, the last time the Rangers were real multi time Champs and didn't fumble ass backwards into a Cup (94) was when they built their teams from within because that's just how it was done from 1928 to 1940... 84+ years ago.

If anyone thinks Tofu Boy, Trocheck, and Panarin are leading us to Stanley Cups, I got bridges to sell you.

Bottom line, should PP1 be "broken up" so that the single most important player to the long term vitality of this franchise can get the needed reps to become the player he would have already been had they not completely f***ed up his development from the start... yes, they should. I don't give two shits about Zibanejad's hair, DJ music, or slap shot, I don't give two shits about guys having to stop being lazy and comfortable and start moving their feet to another spot on the ice.

You don't derail a #1 and #2 overall pick's career to fit them in when and where you can as an after thought... you put them where they should be and then everyone else should be secondary.

The Rangers way clearly isnt even sustainable for half a season. When it works out the Rangers way, let me know.

I would shake them up. I'd deal Zibanejad for a young center. I'd deal one of the D.
Blah blah LAF & KK wah whine

“Show me an organization that purposefully derailed back to back #1 and #2 overall pick's development and won a Stanley Cup because PP unit rank”

KK and LAF kinda suck

The Rangers need more pushback. Wilson is playing with a broken nose. He hits Johnny B on Saturday. Some people say Brodzinski was at fault. Still Wilson hit him. Face shield and all. Lafreniere scores the goal yesterday and one of the Capitals players hits him from behind. Wilson. The Rangers don't respond. This is your opportunity. Punch Wilson in the nose. Push the face shield into his nose. Rip off the shield. I am sick of this team. Start some scrums. Let's do something people. Nothing.

The Rangers aren't winning 4 playoff rounds with this D. One playoff round might be too much.
Ranger Boy my favorite poster gets it. Most of the older posters get it because we’ve been watching this wretched organization win 🏆 one Cup in 82 years and understand what it takes.

I’m 61 was going to Sunday Ranger home games since I was 5 when boat horns were still allowed in MSG. I am disgusted with this organization.

But according to MH, most younguns, millennials toughness doesn’t matter they are clueless and 💯 wrong.

We've had those players, DeAngelo, Lemieux, Smith, Reaves(?), but Drury doesn't like that hockey so he quickly trades them.

No one likes Reaves, Deangelo and people barely tolerate lemieux.
Smith was maligned on the board for years and we cheered when his contract was up.

That's all fine and good, but then people can't complain when they say the team is too vanilla.
