honestly don’t think they have the pace to keep up with Detroit. In a seven game series they melt us. Probably looks like those Nashville games did.

I said this earlier in the season when everything was going great. The nest time to have problems is now. That way we don't fool ourselves. That way we have some time to hopefully find some help before the playoffs. That way we don't limp in to the playoffs.

At least Zegras is entertaining and highly skilled. Zibanejad's personality is as exciting as watching paint dry. He has the intensity of Eeyore.

Mika at least knows what defense is… Zegras is not a replacement for him offensively nor defensively. He’s got like 7 points this year and is hurt again. All he is is younger and sometimes flashier. Trading Mika for Zegras straight up is NYR getting robbed. Wait… Zegras can do “The Michigan,” I stand corrected.

Teams we face are well aware of that and if they are willing to drive to the net they know they will beat us.
This will be an issue leading up to the playoffs and our undoing once we are there.

They can probably trade Trouba in the summer and I assume Goodrow will get bought out. Other than that we are stuck with the love birds (not that I want to deal Kreider) and Panarin. No one will take Igor if he keeps playing like this but at least management should know not to sign him.

If this season keeps going the way it is, they really should retool for a year. Empower the youth like Lafreniere, Kakko and Cuylle. Call up Othmann, Sykora, Edstrom types. Id be stripping A's from guys already. I'd also make Fox the captain and tell Trouba to kick rocks. His first season as Captain the team goes all in then no shows against the Devils; he spends the summer becoming a painter...I get that these guys are allowed to have interests outside of sports but what an awful look. Whether right or wrong (and the uninspired play by the whole team makes me think Im right) it feels like the leaders of the team dont care. It's 3 different coaches and they still play the same way. We are spinning our wheels until a message is sent via trade or by the coaching staff. The roster isnt good enough and everyon knows it.

The rosters totally good enough just add depth

Would the Leafs consider trading Reaves back here? He has two more years but his contract is cheap enough that he can be sent to the AHL for a minimal hit if need be next year or the year after. We could really use his leadership in the room and we need someone to protect the players while on the ice. Just the other day Lindgren was forced to defend himself from Dowd after a clean hit. Not so sure Dowd takes that liberty if he knows Reaves is lurking on the bench.

In every other year, I would agree with you. But look at the league as it stands, basically there are no "top contenders" unlike in many previous years. It's basically the top 12 teams of the league, all have their faults, and all could go on a run.

Once again, look outside of our bubble. The other teams are not that good either.
