Would love to see Cuylle on a line with some skill.

I see Cuylle as a Pouliot or a Hagelin. Not in terms of style, necessarily, but the type of guy who makes a scoring line better as opposed to playing in the bottom six.
I see Cuylle as a better fighting version of Alex Killorn, if he really hits his potential.

Everyone’s a loser until they show they aren’t. Not sure why that’s an out of bounds take for a fan to have
If you go by the most literal definition then yes. My point is that it’s ridiculous to slap these lazy narratives and labels on great cores/players declaring them incompatible with winning based on nothing other than the fact that they haven’t won a cup

Rumor has it that he wants the Toews contract. That's $7.25m per year. I'd pay that over 7 years. Having Hanifan, Miller and Fox on the back end moving forward would be quite the coup.
I don't know if I'm comfortable with giving him 7.25 tbh.

He's better than Lindgren. I do not know if he's 7.25M good. If there's a bidding war as a UFA, I want nothing to do with it.

With this whole playoff discussion, why is it always lost that the archetypes that people cite in STL and VGK had a rare combination of guys that had size, speed, and an actual ability to move the puck. No one ever mentions it being an issue for Colorado steamrolling their way to the Cup with a smaller defense. Tampa’s in the same vein as STL and VGK: their main guys were huge and could move the puck.

You need to be able to defend the house, but if you can’t keep the puck away from it, you’re not going to win. We need more of a punch from our forward group. Chytil back and healthy will be a huge boost. They still need more there.

It depends on your definition of small for a defenseman. Erik Johnson and Manson were definitely large. Maker and Girard were definitely small. Toews, Byram, and Jack Johnson were somewhere in between. Is 6-1 and 195lbs small or average?

Regardless, the point has been made before that it was not lack of size that got us eliminated last year.

I don't know... Chicago is giving out $4M to 'character' players like it's the winning formula.
Chicago is giving out 4m to character players so they can make teams that are trading for them throw in picks for Chicago to retain

And also, maybe, crazy idea, play their 9.5 million dollar defenseman the most minutes.

I'm not asking Laviolette to sit Trouba or not give him top 4 minutes. I'm trying to realistic about it.

I'm asking him to use a Norris winner as his 1D. It's a small ask.
You’re not wrong. Playing devils advocate (reluctantly in this case) I could see how Fox’s injury and continuing recovery after he returned could’ve forced Laviolette to allocate more to Trouba - Miller. Lindgren struggling didn’t help the cause. I’m hoping that this misbalance is naturally corrected as Fox seems to be getting healthier.

For the “I’m not sure Bonino plays when the teams fully healthy” crew, it looks like Pitlick is a healthy scratch tonight.

Bonino is a center. Pitlick is a wing. Our winger just came off IR. Our center still is on IR.

Bonino probably stays in because he can PK, but these things are not related to each other

Lavs obviously not a galaxy brain like the majority of posters here.
Laviolette is also married to Bonino right now.

Some players are just teflon to coaches. Doesn't mean that they are right. Doesn't mean they are wrong either, but metrics and eye test tell a different story

Goodrow can move to center. Sure Bonino PKs but Pitlick is far more effective 5v5. but I don’t expect Bonino to leave the lineup.

Goodrow might be worse at center than Bonino is
Almost impossible given that Bonino is arguably the worst player in the league at center:

At least Goodrow can say he’s been carried on a line getting positive results this year. Nobody’s carrying Boninos shit corpse
