Brodzinski definitely didnt he was horrendous, if we're keeping score on just yesterdays game. He's a nice story but hes a 30 year old rookie who cant keep up with the speed of the NHL. He's Hartfords captain, thats where he belongs. Pitlick is JAG.
However you want to characterize Brod and Pitlick, they’re still outplaying Goodrow and Bonino.

Bonino is old and slotted above his ability, but what is Goodrow’s excuse? Sit them both.

Barclay Goodrow and Filip Chytil have the same amount of shots on goal this season.

Goodrow's effectiveness beyond absorbing blocked shots on the PK has been gone since he broke his ankle in the 2022 playoffs. I know why Drury didnt buy him out (dead money until 2030!), but we need to find a way to get this guys money off the books. For all we talk about how Brodzinski, Pitlick and Bonino suck, it wouldnt be an issue if Goodrow wasnt making more than all 3 combined. He only has a 15 team NTC, so getting rid of him should theoretically be possible. Trading a 1st to be rid of him would hurt in the short term but we have 3 additional years of this guy. Id do it.

I have no love for Goodrow, he's just not getting scratched. Needs to be traded if you want him out of the lineup

"Whelp. That happened." LOL

We have two 1b lines and two 4th lines. We need someone to go on a tear to string some wins together, so there will be games that our depth gets eaten alive. Mika and Bread are both capable of getting 10p in 5 games, but if both of them go cold at the same time, we need to grind out a 1-0 or 2-1 win.

I hate to comment on Kane, but if he was willing to take $800k for one year then we should have done that instead of Wheeler. I don't think that was the case, so it's just wish-casting.

We need a 3rd line. 2/3 of that is on IR, so with one more guy, we are a solid team top to bottom. If we can find a way to jettison Goodrow, then a 4th line of Cuylle - Bonino - Vesey would be a great 4th line. Cuylle and even Vesey are more talented than your average 4th liner, but in a dream world that has Pinto - Chytil - Kakko on the 3rd line, it's fine to push Cuylle down since his play style works on a 4th line.

With a fully healthy squad, I'm more than fine with Brodzinski as a 13th forward. Being able to play C carries more value than a Pitlick. If Lavs has the cajones to scratch Goodrow when everyone's healthy, I would be super impressed. Bonino has been better as a 4C PKer (even though it's painful to watch his line be a 3rd line for a month), and for some reason he and Goodie are worse together than apart.

20 - 93 - 17/24
10 - 72/16 - 13
XX - 16/72 - 24/17
50 - 12 - 26
21 - 22

I don't love Wheeler, but we need to add another F more than we need to replace him.

I'd be down to retain $1m on Goodrow, since that would be how much lasting dead cap there would be on a buyout (after a one-year cap discount, of course). Goodrow is basically the only way we can make more room for that one player. Otherwise, we need to identify a sub $1m player. For the right younger F, I'd pony up a 1st.

When Kreider and Trocheck are on the ice together 5v5, the Rangers have scored 23 goals and conceded 8.

Now, it must be said, Kreider and Zibanejad are a great combo. Still are, probably always will be until they turn blue and drop over.

But man, that feels like one of those things where what we have is good so we won't try something that's better.

It's time to change up the lines

If Goodrow is an untouchable in the lineup, then Lavs is already done.

Call me crazy, but I wanna go with the guy we already have under contract who's been better in our top six than both Kane and Wheeler put together times fifty.

Vesey.png

Seriously, we already have that guy. The guy some contender trades for and he's great playing a role and then he makes a pile of money after winning the Cup and goes on to be mediocre. We already have the guy before he's mediocre and making the money. Just play him and stop using him to make Pitlick and Goodrow NHL players. Let them f***ing sink and just play them less.

Laviolette obviously likes Vesey because that line plays a lot, but instead of trying to make an effective line with two plugs, put him with good players and make an unstoppable line.

This is a bit late and not 100% sure where to put this, but I was at the game on Saturday in Tampa. Visiting my sister and catching the boys on the road. Sat about 7 rows over Vasy's left shoulder where the boys shot twice. 4 of the 5 goals right in our face. We had a nice Ranger section going, we had to goal song going in our area.

If you're ever in Tampa to catch a game (or want to travel and see one) this is a great destination. A true hockey town honestly, but they have a great hockey bar called Hattricks there that have great wings (coming from a wing snob). The best part of the night though was how over the course of the game the Tampa fans got more and more defeated. They could not belief how we were on every puck, in their face, and absolutely stifling everything they did offensively. The goals were just dagger after dagger.

Anyways, was interesting to sit amongst other fans and hear them in awe of how good we are right now. Fun stuff. Hopefully I get to the Garden before the 3/11 game I'm going to!!

Panarin and Zibanejad has not been a great duo but Panarin and Trocheck are an awful duo and I feel like the only person in the world who's noticed.

It gets dicey without having three top 9 centers, I'll grant you that, but eventually we will. When we do, they need to rethink the lines.
Yeah for sure. I think with Chytil you might be able to pull something off. Without him, don’t think they really can.

Also kind of a bummer because was looking more into defense first centers for the deadline too for Cuylle and Kakko . Womp womp

My parents live in Tampa so I try to catch a game down there once a year and I completely agree. Was at the one last year where Mika won it in the final seconds (you can see my brother and cousin celebrating the goal on TV lol). Amalie has a really nice setup outside and the arena is built in a way where the upper sections are much closer to the ice than MSG. The whole downtown area with the bars and restaurants on the canal is great.

2nd best city in the world behind NYC but dont tell anyone so it can stay our little secret haha.

I saw someone on Twitter getting ROASTED for insinuating that Chytil goes back with 10 & 13 when he returns. It probably has to do with Vince having a 4pt night recently, but the underlying numbers for 10-16 this season haven't been nearly as good as 10-72. It's been a blessing that they're producing more with Chytil out than when they were put together last season, but the underlying questions are still there.

I feel you. But with everyone healthy and fielding a full squad going into the playoffs, I want Vesey on the 4th line so that he's the easy slot up if anyone goes down. Wheeler gets absolutely torched game 1? 1RW Vesey for game 2 and no other line needs to get shuffled. He is Himmy, but I would prefer to keep him as a secret weapon. Wheeler can't really play a bottom 6 game, so it's top 6 or scratch for him, imo.

Let's say Wheeler's knees explode in a month and he calls it a career. I'm down with putting Vesey with 20-93 right away. As currently constructed, Cuylle and Vesey are both bringing up the level of separate hodge podge lines. If we get a little stacked and they're both on the 4th line, that 4th line becomes an actual threat.

Come on with the dramatics. There's no NHL coach that is benching Goodrow for Adam Edstrom when the team is leading the league in points.
Rookie coach Bannister benched one of the Blues top producers in Buchnevich for one undisciplined game. You think Lavs needs Goodrow that bad? Like I said- if Lavs is afraid to bench Goodrow, we aint winning shit.

Goodrow isn’t getting benched because despite his warts they “need” (using this term lightly) him for PK.

I would have no problem like taking Brodzinski or Pitlick out, but because of the PK, we are going to be stuck with Bonino and Goodrow for better or worse.

I am not sure what this means.

Panarin/Trocheck - 360 minutes - 58.7 CF%. 57.1 xG%
Panarin/Chytil - 111 minutes - 58.9 CF%. 55.8 xG5

How are the underlying numbers not nearly as good? They're basically identical.

Panarin/Trocheck get badly outscored. Even if that's happenstance, why go with the duo that gets outscored when the other duo doesn't?

We’ve been winning plenty, unlike the Blues. And Goodrow isn’t doing anything undisciplined

He’s not doing much of anything, if you’re being honest. I’d rather have Edstrom and Othmann on the third line and Goodrow and Bonino in the pressbox.

I did not want to call any of them up, but the team needs younger legs. Call up Edstrom and Othmann tomorrow. Send down Brod. Pitlick 13th forward.

Kreider-Z-Othmann
Panarin-Tro-Laf
Cuylle-Ed-Wheeler
Goodrow-Bonino-Vesey

We need some more heart and moxie. As well as speed. Youth brings that. Wheeler just isn't fast enough for Kreider and Z. Othmann can at least move.

I don't give a f*** about this being a 1st place team. They won't be for much longer.
Brodz needs to clear waivers to be sent down. Not saying I want him here, but just giving facts.

The secret is safe with me! And agreed, Amalie set up is elite. So far I've been to: Dallas, San Jose, Colorado, Washington, Carolina, and Tampa on the road. Their set up is by far the best, not even close.
