Do you think a trade Chytil+Bonino+prospect (Berard/Robertson/Sykora/Edstrom) for Nicolas Roy makes sense?

Chytil has a highest ceiling, especially ofensively. Serious concussion issues on the other hand.

Nicolas Roy is very good defensively with strong CF%, xGF%, CA/60 metrics. He is almost 0,5ppg as well (as 4C and part of 2PP unit in Vegas).

Vegas would get Bonino for now, Chytil for playoffs & next seasons, and some salary cap relief which they need (if Chytil is out until the end of regular season).

Both Chytil and Roy are signed until 2027. We would get a cheap good 3C (3M vs 4,437M) for this season and next seasons as well. It would be a bit easier for us to extend Kakko, Lindgren, Schneider in 2024 and Igor, Miller, Laf and Cuylle in 2025.

I have added a prospect to this trade because Chytil is a very risky option for any team now.

Im sorry. We’re moving chytil and adding pieces for Roy? Are we somehow talking about a different Roy? Because chytil for Roy 1:1 is heavily in Vegas’s favor.

Sean Monahan isn't even good offensively. He's just bad at everything.

Drury when there’s a guy who’s bad at everything:

Red Wings 3-9-1 since Kane joined. 1 regulation win.

what could've been
13 points in 13 Games. Underlying numbers are better than previous couple seasons.

Detroit stinks. Goaltending stinks. Not a lot of depth to that team.

Pretty sure Kane is only getting points on the PP when he can do it standing still. Rangers made their decision on a washed veteran when they brought in Wheeler, who at least can still do stuff 5v5.
False. Only 3 of his 13 points have come from the PP.

Nothing about it makes sense.

If you're concerned that Chytil won't come back then why would Vegas trade a useful player for him?
If you're sure that Chytil will come back then why would you trade him for an inferior player?
If you're sure that Chytil won't come back then you have additional space you can use to add a player without trading him.

Nobody is sure of anything in this case. Vegas can be concerned and still decide to take the risk. Especially if they get Bonino and a prospect as well.

I don't think Vegas needs to change their mix at all and Chytil would be their 7th or 8th best forward. Doesn't seem like a match.

I don't see any reason why Vegas would make that deal. They make their team worse on the hope that Chytil can come back and contribute at a level higher than Roy. Yes, it gives them some LTIR space to work with (assuming Chytil is out until the playoffs), but they'd only open 2.2 mil in space (Roy's cap hit - Bonino's cap hit). If Chytil were to come back early, they'd be in even worse shape cap-wise.
Chytil can't be traded while hurt. His value once he comes back is probably at its lowest too until he shows sustain performance like he did before he got hurt.
Players can be traded while injured. Players on LTIR are traded all the time. The only time an injury is an issue is if the trading team doesn't disclose/know about an injury and then the injury is found by the acquiring team's doctors. Even then, they can still choose to accept the trade or revert it.

I stand corrected. The production hasnt translated to wins though unfortunately

You may be right however I still see a chance they would be interested in one of our prospects mentioned above and at the same time they would believe Chytil would contribute at a level higher than Roy.

Chytil might, but it's a significant risk. The prospect isn't enough to take that risk. They are trying to win another cup. They aren't going to make moves that will make the team worse.

Maybe it could be an offseason deal if Chytil is healthy, but not at the deadline.

There's not a rental out there worth a first unless their intention is to extend Hanifin (yes) or Lindholm (bad idea)
I have no problem dealing the 1st, but needs to be for a guy with term. Looking at guys in the current toilet teams; Zetterlund from SJ is probably the only guy that I would put a 1st on the table for. Think that could give you a lot of options and having him for another year under 2m would be very nice. Maybe Pinto - but not sure how motivated Ottawa would be. Hanifin fits the bill too, but I feel like adding a 1 to anyone that would need to be sent to Calgary to make that work might be a bit of an overkill. Hard to say right now with the late trade deadline always holding up the market.

I wouldn't sell low on Chytil. I think the team knows more than we do about his health. And they'd have to share his medicals with the acquiring team. More likely we just wait. This isn't the time. Roy is an interesting player butI also don't see why Vegas is moving him now.

Too many people believing Chytil’s career is automatically over. I still expect him to be back and effective by the playoffs.
