Call him up

Amen. There is a kid who has been well coached coming into the organization.
Rarely caught out of position. True North/South guy. Carries the puck up, dumps it into a corner, then goes and bangs the defenseman that tries to retrieve it.
Once his line has control in the O-Zone he stands net front screening the goalie and/or looking for the tip in front.
Also can take shifts on the PK.
Can play both C and RW.

We need a lot more than just a fighter.
Not just a fighter.

Ah, gotcha.

Unlikely unless he significantly improves his skating ability and outlet passing. Scanlin goes to the right areas, but he'll get beat wide by anyone with above average NHL speed, especially the way the Rangers' system seems to involve pinching the D/standing up to hold the puck in the offensive zone more this year, absent something changing tactically.
In his defense he is a LD playing the Right side since the end of last season. So there is that whole getting use to turning the opposite way on opposing players.

Since December 1 when basically things went down hill, five on five, we have two pylons playing defense.

Shout out Gus and Schneider though, hopefully Gus can stay next year.

Looking ahead, since we have decided this season is a loss, I would like to see only 1 move made and young legs brought in for 2024-25

Berard, Othmann, Edstrom, and Rempe would all be in opening night. Trade Lindgren for Hanifin. Sign ZERO old useless slow players.

Kreider-Z-Othmann
Panarin-Tro-Laf
Cuylle-Chytil-Kakko
Vesey-Edstrom-Berard
 Rempe

Hanifin-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Jones/UFA-Schneider
Jones/UFA

Igor
Garand

They could basically do this this year, and we would be better for it, but they are chickens and you gotta protect the honor of a vet player. Even if that player can't play anymore.

i’m not a big Schneider fan but he’s catching a lot of flak and i don’t see why……:he is VASTLY improved from his last few years and him and Gus have been pretty good on both ends of the puck. and this comes from someone who’s relentlessly dunked on him for years

If the Jackets would move Boone Jenner, I would overpay to add him to this roster. Secondary scoring, can play up and down the lineup and give us center depth. This team is sorely lacking some speed and some tenacity in the lineup. 3.75m this year and next.

Then, if Minnesota falls out of it, I’d try to get Duhaime.

Not sure the cost of either but this lineup would be infinitely deeper, better at cycling the puck, and defensively responsible. I know our defense has been shaky lately but it starts with the forwards. Getting them engaged on forecheck and back check makes a world of difference for zone coverage. I’d also scramble the pairs to see if you can roll something else out.

Kreider Zibanejad Kakko
Panarin Trocheck Lafreniere
Cuylle Jenner Duhaime
Vesey Goodrow/Bonino Wheeler/Pitlick

Miller Fox
Lindgren Schneider
Gustafson Trouba
spare rental
I can so see JD for Columbus and Gorts in Montreal to make sure we give extra fir one of their players.

Bold: yes, nice to see finally what bern preached to get ahead of the curve is now being heard

underline: a dream, too expensive, not gonna happen
overpay for Sanderson, get a foundation piece long term

italic: BS, eff the honor of a vet player
they are getting paid and know they gotta produce

A team that would.probably take Goody with his contract is Chicago. They just overpaid Foligno to give Berardi some grit/protection. Goody would fit in well with them and maybe be a nice trade chip down the road with 50% retained. By then they should be closer to competitive.

I'm sure it's been discussed already but I'm not going back and reading 20 pages of material. What would be our best package for Zegras?

In my mind Perreault, Lafreniere, Fox are the only untouchables.

Give me a rental like Tarasenko again and if someone wants to give me another RW option sure

Kreider , Zib, Tarasenko
Pamarin, Tro, Laf
Cuylee , Chytil(I hope), Kakko
Goodrow , Bonino , Vesey / Wheeler

I think you could offer a 1st, kakko, and lindgren and the Senators would not take the offer. Sanderson will cost you one of Perrault or Othmann on top of that package with maybe like a 4th coming back from the Sens.

he's been a lot better but i wonder how much of that is riding off of Gustafsson. which is also fine, it's a solid pair.

1. A guy with a 15-team NTC isn't worth much as a trade chip, even at just half of Goodrow's cap hit.

2. Who does Goodrow protect here? We're getting more grit from the AHL call-ups making league minimum.

Then you missed my whole diatribe about how Zegras isn't that good and I wouldn't give up much.
