dude your obssession with trading laf is hilarious, you talk about resetting then you want to trade our 3 best young assests.....if you wanted to trade zibs, kreider, trouba, etc i can get behind trading for these young guys
1. Not an obsession, just trying to do intelligent thing of selling high on him
2. 3 best assets, but what I return is not chopped liver, either, = useful repurposing improving our position
3. No sacred cows means nmc/ntc aside everyone theoretically available, but acknowledging that said, 99% of time Kreider stays.
Trouba is uneven and we do not have RD replacement, I am pushing for Helleson. Trouba 50/50 dep on if we urgently must move due to cap. Zib is zib, both + and -.

I am prob most recognized of posters here pushing for youth over vets, btw

Well he scored 60 points two seasons in a row as a 20 and 21 year old. That counts for something.

He has work to do but the scoring ability is baked in.

Lindgren for Zegras is exactly the type of deal I’d want for Lindgren. Miller moves up to first pair. Gustafson moves to second pair. Go hunting for a third pair D or promote Robertson.
And Ducks do that, why?

Better off getting a realistic 2nd + Rassmussen from DET for Lindy + Jones

Creates mins as you suggest to give Robby; we NOW have to know how legit he looks b'c Scanlin will push in camp and ya gotta think ahead.

Ras + Edstrom + Rempe [or if Helleson emerges, Trouba to 4RW and backup D where he has less skating obligations = kick ass bone crushing 4th line checking.
THAT is prob max return on Lindy

He's clearly very talented but I'm not paying out the nose for him. Like I said he's a good player and he certainly has things in his game right now that would really help (ability to carry the puck up ice? Yeah we could use that) but there are also some serious limitations that get overlooked because he does flashy shit.

With his injury issues+slow start this year, the Ducks would be selling low anyway. I'd imagine that they'll wait a bit (summer, maybe even mid way through next year) before doing something if they're going to do anything at all. Lindgren as a base (before getting to draft picks) is about as much as I'd be willing to part as far as rostered players go but I also understand that some other team will probably jump in with younger and better players.

Thats fine, someone else will become available who is probably a better fit and player over the next few months. It always happens.
This would be cut our nose to spite our face.
Level of overpayment has to be carefully considered as to currency, ridiculous level overpay offers should obv not be received/accepted.

But Z is proven NHL able to play now talent.
He will COMMAND more than Lindgren + -ish.

Jason Dickenson, and a stay at home dman...thats my wish list, try and keep our prime assets and go for it with that lineup, get Kakko back and maybe Chytil and that's a decent lineup.

My lines
Panarin Trochek Lafreniere
Kreider Zibanejad Kakko
Cuylle Dickenson《》Chytil
Vesey Goodrow Wheeler

Miller Fox
Gustafson Trouba
Lindgren Schneider
dep on price of Dickens maybe, but those assets prob better spent on higher ceiling upgrades

I'd try to build a Schneider for Zegras trade foundation and go from there.
no

If the Rangers did a Zegras trade (which I am probably still against) I wouldn’t do a young guy for him. Don’t really see the point. Now if you wanted to say move a guy like Zibanejad and just use it as an opportunity to re-set the cap and get off a big and/or contract (or two); that makes sense to me because Anaheim might want a vet in there to babysit all their young forward. That’s a more interesting (albeit flawed) concept to me.
Not an option to extent Zib has full nmc until like last wk of last yr of his deal.
So complete non starter.

There was something somewhere about Ducks + Sens wanting reasonable vet adds to help youth.
That is where Goodrow + Bonino to ANA can make sense in specific construct

As to pt of youth for youth re: Zegras, idea is you are adding a pivot, an area of current/projected need

Only reason to divert from Z if he is reasonably available would be if something around Byfield for Shesty could be had

Again- the Ducks aren't looking for D, they're looking for depth at W. That's why they traded Drysdale, a D, for Gauthier, a W. If you don't believe me, maybe you'll take their GM's word for it:

Yes. Correctimundo
they appear to be ok on overall D prospects still, even after moving Dry-guy.

If they move Z, they might want an F w/pivot potential, but concur primary targets now are Ws w/upside

I know this is from a week ago, but how does a player retire without officially retiring? And why would they want to do that?
And why are we talking about him retiring, has he or the team said something?
If the player officially retires he forfeits his salary. Staying on LTIR ensures he gets paid.

Hey maybe Zibanejad wants to get a tan? Team on the rise/Ducks need a vet; But yeah. I’m not interested in Zegras unless I’m saving on cap

They don’t need any D help, especially on the right side. They need wingers. Kakko or Othman would most likely be the starting point.
KK would be deal breaker, want to add to him, not swap out. Proved he can be productive w/correct linemates [a la kid line]. Othmann is reasonable tho we have to add b'c Z is a pivot, Oth exclusively a W. Also, could be wrong, but at this pt Z is better skater?

Zegras is massively overrated.
Yeah, didn't wanna say this on the main boards thread and start a fight, but Zegras sucks.

He's a bit like Barzal, but even worse. The skill jumps out at you, which puts a premium on him on the market, but the results just don't track with the skill. Take away the pretty plays he makes, and he's a 65-70 point player with bad to middling analytics.

Zibanejad is a more productive, less bad version of that.

To me, this is just downgrading on Zibanejad for a guy who will be making even more than Zibanejad in 2026 due to inflation.

I question why the Ducks want to trade a guy the league anointed as one of the top future stars in the league. Either he has told them he wont re-sign there or he doesnt take the league seriously enough (which is how it appears to an outsider tbh)

Kakko in full contact but slotted as a placeholder. Maybe Leschyshyn is only in for a game.

It is, but it also saves Rangers money, and we can deal with it in 2026 if we have to when he is still under RFA control.

You roll the dice to see if he can level up, you use the cap savings to upgrade a different position. The Rangers do not have a lot of routes to get rid of their bad contracts. This could be one of them; and for the record I think the Ducks may even add here.

Kind of re-doing the Gaborik trade a bit. Obviously Zegras is available for a reason though and it’s not a slam dunk; but this is a more interesting concept to me than moving a similar aged guy and hurting our cap more

Because the team now has 2 centers who are clearly better than him.
Mctavish is going to be a better version of PLD. and Carlsson is just a clear 1C.
They now have an elite C/W who can play on a line with one of them, theyve got strome signed for years, Vatrano for another year.

Anaheim's only issue is going to be managing the cap and teaching these kids to win. Theyve got a very high end core, adding vatrano/gudras were a good choice from a "learn to win" concept, so that theyre not stuck basically ending up like the senators.

The latter would track with the results not matching the skill.

Contract negotiations didn't seem to go well this offseason. I wouldn't be surprised if he said he wasn't looking to stay long term. Although a team with a bright future in southern California doesn't seem all that bad..

Have to consider team factor. Anaheim has been a bad team for a while. Their underlying stats stink, xg corsi, and Zegras has outpaced whatever the team is doing. It suggests he's making better of a bad situation than making a bad situation worse.

I am curious about his EH player card per year though. That's pretty big on this board, so I assume his player cards don't look great.

So if Lescheshcyshn is going (God I hate typing that) and Kakko is close but not playing

Are we looking at below if Mika is good to go?

Kreider Mika Wheeler
Laf Tro Bread
Lesch Bonino Brodz
Cuylle Goodrow Vesey

Yikes

That "3rd" line is yucky

Can we just elevate Vesey or Cuylle and end the damn Wheels experiment

His card is horrendous this year. Ill see if I can find it.

That may be true but its telling the Ducks just traded his BFF and now the rumors are they want to move Zegras too. After the guy was seemingly the face of the franchise 6 months ago. Quite a 180

Cuylle has been skating with Mika and Kreider the last 2 days
