Trading Laf and Othmann all the time, but a death grip on Kakko.

Unconscionable.
I rely on my track record
peeps wanted to wriet off LaF and I said no
saying same on KK

as to what I suggested, be objective and fair

my prop on Oth ++ got Zegras +

my prop on LaF + G. P. + got back high end RD, immediate RD and Slaf

I think Berard is a good prospect, but I think Othmann, Sykora, and Perreault are better.

We are heavy on wings coming up through the system, and I don't think there's going to be room for him here. Panarin is signed two more years. Kreider shouldn't be moved, because he gives you something unique. Laf is future top line, if you don't consider him basically there now. Kakko needs a place to play. The three prospects above need a place to play.

You have to move someone, and Berard isn't going to be very impactful buried on the fourth line.

He's young, and you can get more for him now than you can if you wait until he's 23 and has to clear waivers, and you panic and make a deal for a mid round pick at the end of camp because he didn't make the team and you don't want to lose him for nothing, or you let him languish on the 4th line.

Now, if you feel that Berard is a better prospect than Othmann, Sykora, or Perreault, then feel free to trade one of them (or Kakko) instead for the right piece and throw Berard into a future top 9.

But if the Rangers continue to hoard wingers while lacking for D and centers, they're going to end up regretting it in a few years.

Just don't trade any of those players. Berard is having a very impressive rookie season in the AHL. He's season is trending towards Cuylle territory from last year and we see how Cuylle has done in the NHL this season. There's no reason to think Berard will be any different.

Yes, he is undersized, but he's 5'9, not 5'3 and he has been playing guys larger than him for the last 4 years in NCAA and AHL.

Sykora is at least another full season in the AHL away.

Also, as a side note, if the option is playing Berard on the 4th line or trading him for a rental, the answer is to play him on the 4th line. He will be inexpensive and effective.

Absolutely. Been saying it for a while but he's a poor man's Marchand. Annoying player to go against. Buzzsaw type guy and he has talent to go up and down the lineup.

We're finally one the verge of having young cheap internal bottom 6 options so we don't have to dip into free agency to fill those roles.

Yes, this is a 1st place team, but don't compromise 24-25 and 25-26 cause you move out guys close to making the jump.

People want more energy and guys who play with passion and speed. Berard is that type of guy. So are Othmann and Sykora. These are guys you keep. End of story.

WE should not be trading any of our top prospects for rentals, period, full stop! I would trade Berard/Sykora in a trade for a player that will be with us beyond the TD, and for future years.

If Sykora is really that far behind Berard, it makes him the more tradeable prospect in my eyes. Berard can help us soon it seems.

I dont think anyone disagrees with this

Don't trade either one. That's really the moral of the story. Prospects need to be spaced out in terms of their arrivals. That's a good thing.

Edstrom and Cuylle this year.

Berard and Othmann or Rempe next year

Othmann or Rempe and Chmelar/Laba/BMB and Perrault the following year.

I think we see Edstrom or Rempe roll to center on that 4th line as well. Laba/BMB also play center.

I'd count this year's first round pick as a top prospect. I don't want to see that moved.

When NYR traded for Andrew Copp, I personallythink they gave Winnipeg the choice of all of our mid their prospects (Reunanen, Barron, Pajuniemi, etc) and the Peg chose Barron.

I'd do the same thing this year for a significant center- one of Jones/Robertson, with a conditional 2nd that only becomes a first if we win 2 playoff rounds.

Not super interested in trading Berard or Sykora but I do not see either as fully untouchable.

Yeah i prefer to keep Berard/Sykora but they are not untouchable like Othmann and Perrault. I also would not deal anyone currently on the NHL roster. Kakko, Cuylle, Edstrom have all vastly improved our bottom 6, especially in a season where we've only had 1 line going in the top 6.

general very strong agree
preaching to choir, much of what I've said for a while now

Trouba nmc->ntc
2 seasons after this 8per cap
Trouba reduced 1m to 7 per + nyr 2024 4th + 2026 3rd
for
Rasmussen + DET 2024 + 2025 2nds

solidifies 4th line bonecrushing big
Ed - Ras - Rem

---------
If we don't keep/use w/better chemistry linemates
can move neutral cost reduced 1.x down to 2m per.

-----------

Lindgren + Jones + 2027 3rd
to AZ for two 2nds
---------------------

side deal BMB for RD Helleson
also Othmann + Berard + Vesey + Sykora
for
Zegras + J. Perreault + 2nd
---------------------

LaF + G Per + J. Per
for
Slaf + Reinbacher + Barron
-------------------------

Kreider not part of the prob
bread moved before end of term b'c he knows he's not sniffing 11+m from us again, but that is not til next season at earliest

don't believe Zib waives, but if he did for Leafs, then
Zib + Shesty
for
Nylander + Lilj

who are flipped to OTT
for
Sanderson + picks

In either event, we need to sell high on Shesty and get Garand ready

Assume Zib blocks the above

still
Kreider - Zeg - Zib
Slaf - Tro - bread
Cuylle - Brod - KK
Ed - Ras - Rem
reserve: Good

KAM - Fox
Robertson - Schneid
Gust - Barron/Helleson
next yr Scanlin, possibly Harpur or other adds depth
eventually Reinbacher to right side, Fox maybe to off hand

something like this ^

no, this is wrong
youth for youth is ok, but no more adding vets for youth

capitulate to reality cap requires developed youth
Who is "BMB"?

We have 1 top prospect.

Othmanns probably a top 3 guy for a lot of teams. But yes the Rangers other top kids are 7-10 types in other orgs.
My interpretation of top prospects may differ to yours and/or others here, since "top" is very subjective.
For me, a top prospect is someone who is ready/will soon be ready to make the jump to the NHL, as a top six/bottom six player, not necessarily JUST a top line/star player. The more you have these guys ready to crack the NHL roster, the more important they are.

Ready for the NHL in 1-2 yrs time:

-Othmann
-Perreault
-Berard
-Sykora
-Garand

If you wanted to ask me who I would trade, it's far more likely to be in the tier of:
Laba
Chmelar
Mancini
Jones
Robertson
BMB

Than:
Sykora
Berard
Othmann
Perrault

With BMB and Laba being a bit more unlikely as they play center.
Problem is ,the ones in the trade category don't have that much value other than BMB. Every organization has those types.

I think the take away from Cuylle, Edstrom and now Rempe all coming up and playing well should be that the answer can come from in house. Call up Berard. Put him next to 20 and 93 and see what happens. It's smarter to do this first then waste assets on a rental. I hate rentals.

If it doesn't work, Vesey goes back up and Rempe comes back in at 4th line. Berard, and Othmann, finish the year in Hartford and are likely regulars next year. No harm, no foul.

+ Perreault as top 3

You're probably right on the latter part but some of them address extremely specific weaknesses on the team and are on very good development tracks like Cuylle was (Particularly Sykora and Berard). I understand if they're in college or juniors still like a Noah Laba or are still longshots like Rempe but I would say they're a cut above magic bean types.

Since it seems like we're married to those two f***wads being together I'm in full support of this. Berard can potentially really help those two and we desperately need to break the trend of "grinders with grinders, skill with skill".
