Elliotte Friedman reported the Rangers interest in Olofsson two years ago

I do think the Rangers looked at Buffalo’s Victor Olofsson. However, he is a restricted free agent with arbitration rights, and I don’t believe New York can handle next season’s projected number.

The Rangers made the trade for Vatrano who was a rental.

Emily Kaplan said mid to late round pick for Olofsson.

Buy low candidate.

The Stars bought low last year on Evgeni Dadonov. He had 4 goals and 10 points in 16 playoff games for the Stars.

Vatrano had 5 goals and 13 points in 20 playoff games and some people think he is Mike Bossy.

Emily said the Rangers are looking for players with speed and a good motor.

Skate and shoot player.

Not here or there but last TDL I wanted Dadonov as a low cost acquisition to play with his old KHL teammate here. Oh well.

another name to the list for "career ended while a Ranger due to injuries"

Blake Wheeler
Chris Drury
Pat LaFontaine
Mike Richter
Stefan Cherneski
Michael Sauer
Pavel Bure
Wasn’t there a Ranger back in the early ‘80s whose career ended on his first shift when he tripped coming onto the ice and someone skated over his Achilles Tendon?
David(?) Something?

Stop boiling Drury. First off, we don't know what is really happening inside. Second, he has given us an exciting team. Love to argue picks and trades but I would put him at 8/10 considering we did a partial rebuild. I would rather see us in the playoffs year after year with a chance then building 4 years and not making it. Cudos to Drury.

Can someone post the #s that indicate Lindgren is dragging Fox’s play down? Curious.

Certainly.

All of this is 5v5.

CF%
Together - 49.11%
Fox with out Lindgren - 65.69%
Lindgren with out Fox - 43.60%

xGF%
Together - 44.57%
Fox with out Lindgren - 69.76%
Lindgren with out Fox - 41.04%

HDCF%
Together - 45.59%
Fox with out Lindgren - 70.77%
Lindgren with out Fox - 35.90%

Lindgren has never been good offensively but hes been worse there than usual and his defensive game has taken a pretty drastic step back. He's the 2nd worst in xGA/60 on the team (behind Trouba) and the worst in HDCA/60 outright amongst the regulars. his xGF rel is the worst of any D on the roster, including Zac Jones.

Mind you, he and Fox have a .944 on ice save percentage. Goaltending has been probably the only reason why there aren't more people getting on the coaches to break up that pair.

His PK numbers have gone down the tubes too.

Regardless, the disparity with and without one another is pretty f***ing drastic. This doesn't mean that Fox would rock numbers in the 70% range with anyone but he would be be way better with every other D on the roster than he is with Lindgren.

Compare this to say, Miller and Trouba. Miller has better numbers away from Trouba than vice versa and while there IS a gap, it's not a gap of of 20-30% or more in some cases.

Miller-Trouba hasn't been a great pair, but at least they're on the +side of the high danger chance share and nearly even in xGF% overall where as Lindgren-Fox is sub 45%. They draw the tougher matchups too.

Olofsson is brutal at 5v5, keep him the hell off this team. There are many better options for a RW than him who won’t cost much.
Why do we want a guy that Sabres fans have wanted off this team for a while now? A team that is one of the most disappointing in hockey and about to miss the playoffs again.
The only thing I remember he could do against us is get a decent shot off on the pp.
PASS.

Is he? I don't have all the fancy stats, but I see he's playing a career low 10:06 per game at 5 on 5, and has a career low shooting percentage of 8.7, yet he has a respectable points/60 of 1.53. His shot attempt differential is -1.

For reference, Vesey is playing 10:32 per game 5 on 5, has an 11.8 shooting percentage, and also has a points/60 of 1.53. Vesey has a shot attempt differential of -115.

I'm not sure I'd take anything Buffalo does as proof of a player's ability, one way or the other.

Olofsson has scored 20 goals twice and 28 goals once. In the right situation, he could score some goals for us. I'd rather acquire him on the cheap and see if we can make it work, than spend heavily on a bigger name that probably won't be any better.

The trade deadline wish list should be a 3c, 4th line forward (or maybe just move Brodzinski down there), 13th forward, and 7th dman.

Kreider-Zib-Vesey
Panarin-Trocheck-Laf
Cools-XXXX-Kakko
Edstrom-Brodz-Goodrow
XXXX
I think they’ll get a top six fwd and a bottom six fwd. one will need to be a center, I suppose.
