I like the Duclair fit over someone like Olofsson, but he would bring a big time shot to PP2 that it does not have.

The end result is that there are 2nd/3rd line types out there and Drury shouldn't have to overpay for any of them. Don't spend crazy assets on a Vatrano because he has term. Get one of these guys for a 4th/5th on deadline day and move forward.

Plenty of time to self evaluate. Rempe getting into games will be fun. He's not Ross Johnston or John Scott even though he beats people up. I'd get Berard the cup of coffee too. Maybe you go back to Othmann, he's gone back down and produced. The last two seasons the team did not have this in the minors, and it's why they're so aggressive on getting Copp, Vatrano, Kane, and Tarasenko.

If an answer can be found without a trade, you save more ammo for the future.

Not expecting much but he'll be the toughest guy on the ice.

I haven't hated him when he's played in pre season games but thats again half rosters with regulars getting their cardio in. I don't think he's good enough to take a regular shift at this level at this point but if he beats the f*** out of an Islander that'll be swell.

Sounds more like a Sammy Blais long shot for even a playoff return.

I obviously hope he hasn’t played his last game, but there’s a solid chance.

He’s a good enough skater to deliver some hits and cause some havoc

Olofsson is intriguing because, again, he will cost practically nothing and has respectable underlying stats. That’s a buy low guy who, if he produces, could be kept on a short term, low cap hit deal

I'd really like to see Berard there but I could see Drury offering to take on a contract pre-deadline of someone a team isn't looking to retain but could be useful. Someone who would cost practically nothing other than saving the other team cash.

How about:
Anthony Beauvillier
Anthony Duclair
Max Domi (would Toronto look to cut his cap to make room elsewhere?)
Alexander Barabanov
Zemgus Girgensons

The problem is every single one of these guys has a serious deficiency. I'd rather pay more for someone that doesn't harm you. Beauvillier, Duclair, Domi are all very bad defensively. Barabanov is whatever but he never shoots. Girgensons is good if looking for a defense only 4C. I don't think any is a good solution to the RW1 spot. There's a reason they won't cost much. Okposo, as you've mentioned as well, is a much better option since he is pretty much as good offensively and also an asset defensively. He's just old and not as flashy.

a shrewd move would be to trade Lindgren for that upgrade but that's not happening..... and its why I don't like our chances in the long run.

Replacing Gus is a lateral move at best. Replacing Lindgren is a massive improvement right now

Lindgren + 2025 conditional 1st for Chychrun. So be it
Chych would cost more in assets to acquire and too much in cap to keep
no win now

Ottawa is not the team to dump Lindgren on, they have enough LHD.

What the hell are you guys smoking? Stop with trying to bring up guys like berard and othman. They would just be playing out of place and you would just throw lines that have been working and gelling out of wack. Let them continue to grow in the A just like Cuylle did.

keeo vesey with Kreider and zib, the other lines the same and just let Rempe or Belize play 4th line. We don’t give up assets for a random player and maybe just maybe we don’t have to make any trade until the offseason.

vesey finally works and all you want to trade or bring up a guy who isn’t ready yet in order to find the same chemistry that is working now

Kubalik at 50 for a 6th
Ottawa and NYR made the Motte deal last year
Cheap fill in that ideally finds his game

I'm not expecting Rempe to stick in the way that Edstrom has. Edstrom will likely never see the AHL again.

If it looks like he can keep up at this level, and take a 4th line shift when needed, that's a win.

I’m not surprised if Edstrom goes down after deadline adds but he definitely is a guy to pencil in next year if he keeps it up

Goodrow can f*** right off.

Based off of what i've seen from him this year (admittedly little) he looks like a 13th guy at best and more likely someone who will occasionally shuttle in to play a bit. If he wants it, he can have a long career in Hartford where he can captain the team and be that guy for the Pack. His feet are really rough and I shutter to think about what his line is going to look like with him AND Goodrow on it.

The fact that he will get into a game means he's already smashed the odds. He'll be the Rangers 4th pick from the 2020 draft to play a NHL game (and they'll likely have 6 overall once Berard and Garand eventually get some action down the line. Tidy bit of business by the old staff.)

We'd have to acquire two top9 players, and decide that not only is Brodzinski a better 4th line option than Edstrom, but so much so that we aren't going to keep Adam up as the 13th forward.

I don't see it happening. Especially not with how good Edstrom has been; I wouldn't be worried if we had to play a stretch with him on the 3rd line.
