How in the hell would the Rangers fit those guys? Rolslovic and Tarasenko make around $9m let alone Dermott.

All three are bad possession players so that’s fun.
If it was true, something like
Arizona sends pick(s) of which they have many to Columbus and Ottawa.
Arizona then retains salary on Tarasenko and/or Rolslovic (if they have any retention’s left, if not Ottawa or Columbus would need to retain) and adds Dermott and ships them off to NY for either Miller or Lindgren.

Mackinnon played for Roy... An accountability coach.
Crosby had one of the greatest mentors possible in Mario.

I just think other teams know they have to develop both the product on the ice and the product between the ears of their franchise talent.

The Rangers don't know how to do either.
MacKinnon, Crosby, Marchand and all the nova scotia boys hold each other accountable in the summer, its why they are all top players in the league.

Q: Any reason why you have 14 forwards?
A: We’re dealing with a couple of things in the room.
I firmly believe they're dealing with the fact that Bread is going to take a few days soon to see his Bun come out of the oven. It's the same thing with the PP lines in practice. I'm not concerned.
Kakko and Cuylle are carrying Brodz, put a proper nhl center in there and we have a new version of the 3rd line "kid line" that helped us so much on our run to the ECF. I dont mind if Brodz takes Pitlicks spot but its either there or in Hartford for him.
Mittlestadt would be a fit, but there's a pricetag involved. Ruzicka would have been worth a claim for free to see if he could regain last year's form. There are certainly a few guys for around a 2nd or preferably a 3rd plus Jones, but I don't want to pay a 1st unless it's Zegras or something (which isn't my first choice, just someone that might be worth a 1st).

20 93 17
10 16 13
50 XX 24
26 22<>21

That's basically the same lineup from the beginning of the season, minus Fil. Wheeler is a stop-gap, but barring a trade back to Winnipeg or whatever his desired location, I wouldn't be looking at a RW (unless it's a C/W that's specifically NOT a rental), and I'm definitely not trading Kakko as of yet.

If we find a taker for Goodrow, then a lot of options open up. But if BG is our 13th and Edstrom slots in, that's totally fine for this season and we buy him out in June/July. We just need that Chytil replacement, but I don't want to pay up for it. No 1st for Monahan or Lindholm recently, nor Henrique or Dowd speculatively.

The Rangers are ranked #19 by Scott Wheeler

Though the New York Rangers made just five picks in the 2023 draft and just two in its first four rounds, the value of Gabe Perreault with the No. 23 pick gives their pool a needed injection of high-end skill to complement the pesky nature of their other forward prospects.

The fatal flaw of their pool, though, is that both their NHL club and their pool are deepest at the same position: left-handed wingers (their top-five ranked prospects here are all left-shot wingers). Now that Zac Jones has aged out, they’ve got very little coming on the back end.

2023 prospect pool rank: No. 22 (change: +3)

1-Perreault
2-Othmann
3-Berard
4-Sykora
5-Cuylle

Roslovic isn’t even playing center in Columbus, he’s playing RW and he has like 4 points in the last 16 games. He makes quite a bit and isn’t effective.
Henrique has played more wing than center in Anaheim. I read that a few places. His foot speed is an issue. The Rangers have enough players with foot speed issues.

Buyer beware on the Ducks players. Two years ago, the media was touting Rickard Rackell as a prime rental. The Ducks wanted a #1 pick. I think Arthur Staple was pushing Rackell to the Rangers. Rackell was traded to Pittsburgh for a 2nd round pick and a goalie prospect. He did nothing for Pittsburgh in the playoffs against the Rangers. Hextall gave him $30M and now Dubas is stuck with Rackel who is not any good.

I think I’m at the end of my rope with Goodrow. No hate. He just doesn’t impact the game positively anymore. Not enough. I’d send Pitlick down (assuming he clears) and make Goodrow the 13F. Let the big boys bang for a while.
Bottom six:
Vesey-Brod-Kakko
Cuylle-Edstrom-Rempe.

Something like that. If Rempe can’t keep up, Goodrow can check back in. Maybe a rest will help him.

I can’t see the coach benching him
Goodrow is an offseason move

West looks like ready for TDL arm race that happened in the East last season. Too many teams will stay in the playoff hunt in the East. All these teams have cap issues while needing to improve they’d be required to ship some of the cap cost off the roster. Rangers are one of very few that are fine in that respect and should be looking to use it with minimal cost of other trade capital - see Vatrano trade in 2022. On the other hand it means a very low possibility of moving Goodrow at this time (without overpaying for it one way or another). If you forget his cap implications then he’s perfectly fine as a 4th line winger for the playoffs. With rising cap and a few teams struggling to meet their playoff aspirations and looking for a veteran leadership Goodrow issue should be dealt with in the offseason.

Timing and priority:

1. Shift around Lafreniere, Kakko and Wheer to get Kreider - Zibanejad going
2. Find 3C who’s being squeezed out due to TDL moves of his current team
3. Shift Brodzinski to 4C and see if Edstrom can overtake Goodrow

For those of you who’re going to immediately rant that Goodrow is not going to be shifted to the wing or even lose a spot to competition due to “sacred cow” argument - we’ve heard the same about Bonino this season or (under a different coach) Carpenter or Reeves before just in the very near past. There’s no evidence that someone proven better is not getting opportunities because of this issue.

Am I the only one for whom Henrique doesn't move the needle? Like, at all?

Give me Vatrano and Zegras. KK and a 1st. Sphere be damned.

Throw all these lines in a blender all you want. The top 9 need an infusion of talent.

The backend needs depth for the playoffs.

Igor needs to Igor or

it's an early spring with K' Andre at fashion shows,

Mika picking mushrooms to Moby playing softly in the background.

Laf trying to find something to make him stop scratching is fing face.

Kaapo wondering if Ally Sheedy in The Breakfast Club is a distant relative.

Want to know what my hell is? Listening to Chris Kreiders post game interviews on a reel after being ousted in the playoffs.

That said.

This team is pretty good. Warts the size of Brady Tkachuks head, but still pretty good.

I don’t know. MacKinnon seems pretty self accountable. Crosby seems self accountable. Ovechkin may be unconventional, but he has consistently bounced back and proved he’s a legend every time people thought he was done. I think there are many examples of players who don’t need a babysitter to know how to show up game ready and hungry. He’s shot to the point that he literally can’t even skate, but I don’t think Nick Bonino needs someone else to hold him accountable. I don’t think Blake Coleman or Colton Sissons or Boone Jenner need someone to hold their hands. I agree with you that there needs to be accountability, beyond any doubt, but there’s a cultural issue that I feel goes deeper than just not having a drill sergeant on the bench.
Sad but true; howev
other part of the prob is whether or not we truly have enough horses to win

b'c we don't listen to bern, draft -> develop youth-> accumulate assets -> consolidate into premium assets -> best quality players, ...

.... b'c of that also, we wind up stupidly depleting long term success potential by doing stupid rentals which are proven not to work

Kakko, Goodrow, ‘24 2nd, ‘25 1st
for
Zegras, Vatrano (retained), Henrique (retained)

Does this work?
no stop dealing youth for vets
youth for youth ok
Oth + Berard ++ for Zegras +
that works

1. preach
2. Zegras, Helleson, J. Perreault are only targets to consider
would do vet for vet on Vats but ANA needs Ws, he's not coming cheap or in that currency

If we're going for a big splash i'd hope to get better players than those 3 jokers

Moore is a very good player.

Poti was a weird player. Everyone hated him because the Rangers traded Mike York for him. Poti had a peanut allergy. Some people made peanut jokes. Sather's boy from Edmonton.
Poti wasn't hated because he was traded for Mike York. Poti was hated because he played with no passion & looked disinterested most of the time. He was also soft as butter. Come to think of it, he'd fit in perfectly with our current core.

Is the 4th Period.com reliable? I like Dennis Bernstein. The rest of them not so much.

7. Kaapo Kakko, RW - New York Rangers

The Rangers are looking for upgrades and have been dangling Kakko as trade bait. This move may not result in a rental player coming back to Manhattan, as this could evolve into a larger “hockey trade,” but the Rangers are exploring and Kakko’s name is out there.

Buffalo?Casey Mittelstadt?

Chris Johnston added Kakko to his trade list

I like Kakko but a trade would be better for him. He looks more depressed that usual.

"Hockey trade". No rental or Frank Vatrano shit.
