Agreed. Sometimes I think maybe it’s a NYC problem- too many distractions. My sister once ran into a few Rangers (Rick Nash era) at a bar drinking full glasses of vodka on the night prior to a game.

I get it, 25 year old millionaire in NYC. I just wish they could wait for the off season. Speaking of, I have a feeling guys like zbad doesnt see the inside of a gym in the offseason.

Lastly, the babies are killing us! Panarin last year, zbad and shesty this year.

This is really exactly how I feel. I get conflicted because I just don’t understand how it can be SO contagious that every player who comes here becomes such a soft and pampered baby so quickly, but the reality is that I can’t conclude anything other than we have a completely rotten culture and over-accommodate our players, and our room is absolutely lost as far as leadership and give-a-f***. I’m sure they all think they care. They just have completely forgotten what it was like before they had an NHL salary and *actually* cared. This team is ball-less, to the f***ing core. I love when we win, but I rarely really *enjoy* our games… because we’re soft, predictable and come off as entitled losers. We’re obviously too successful to have a tear down rebuild, and it’s weird to complain about a successful team this much, but I often think that we do need to literally GUT the room and completely flush out the old habits and attitudes, but then I often think that isn’t enough because even if we did that, without a change to the organizational culture of pampering and coddling, we will just produce the next iteration of the wimpy Rangers.

Blame the coaches...
No accountability.

Last accountability coach we had was Torts.

Maybe. It would certainly help. But these players need to have self accountability as well and I think it simply runs deeper. Its organizational when you’re letting the same core run the show on their third/fourth bench boss.

I don't think you're ever going to get millionaires in their 20s and 30s to be accountable if there are zero repercussions.

Positive reinforcement of negative actions seldom leads to desired outcomes.

I don’t know. MacKinnon seems pretty self accountable. Crosby seems self accountable. Ovechkin may be unconventional, but he has consistently bounced back and proved he’s a legend every time people thought he was done. I think there are many examples of players who don’t need a babysitter to know how to show up game ready and hungry. He’s shot to the point that he literally can’t even skate, but I don’t think Nick Bonino needs someone else to hold him accountable. I don’t think Blake Coleman or Colton Sissons or Boone Jenner need someone to hold their hands. I agree with you that there needs to be accountability, beyond any doubt, but there’s a cultural issue that I feel goes deeper than just not having a drill sergeant on the bench.

Mackinnon played for Roy... An accountability coach.
Crosby had one of the greatest mentors possible in Mario.

I just think other teams know they have to develop both the product on the ice and the product between the ears of their franchise talent.

The Rangers don't know how to do either.

So going with a 1A and 1B approach? It works for some teams.

I don’t know I prefer just giving the top unit like a little over a min , and just make corrections. I think it’s more the execution than the personal on the top unit.
I hear you. They’ve tried that approach tho and that unit shows almost too much patience. Maybe splitting up the PP will generate a sense of urgency.

What is this "oracle" being referenced.

This is crazy big news! Did they also say that the trade may or may not happen in the near or vaguely more distant future?
If not by the trade deadline, then it’ll happen sometime before or after the draft, one year.

Kakko, Goodrow, ‘24 2nd, ‘25 1st
for
Zegras, Vatrano (retained), Henrique (retained)

Does this work?

$5 million retained is easily a 1st round pick. So that offer would be 2 1sts for retention + another 1st for taking on Goodrow's crap contract. That's 3 1st's and we haven't got close to wrapping up the Zegras part of the deal yet. Young C's don't come cheap.

Kakko and Cuylle are carrying Brodz, put a proper nhl center in there and we have a new version of the 3rd line "kid line" that helped us so much on our run to the ECF. I dont mind if Brodz takes Pitlicks spot but its either there or in Hartford for him.
