He's fine but don't fall into the trap of small sample scoring rates. Right now his 5v5 scoring rate looks good. Two weeks ago it looked below average. A few good games massively swing the results. The fact that he's scoring 1.97 pts/60 this year through 335 minutes tells you very little about what to expect going forward.

Just for reference here are some other guys with good scoring rates who've played 200-400 5v5 mins this year. Sam Gagner. Jack McBain. Michael Pezzette. Julian Gauthier. Martin Pospisil. Bobby McMann. Pontus Holmberg. All over 1.7 pts/60. Certainly should not be expecting that to continue. It's just small sample stuff.

In fact, let's look at all forwards who played 200-500 mins or less last year with pts/60 over 1.75 and see how they are doing this year (again 200+ mins this year)

Yeah looking at his point totals is stupid, but I think in terms of moving play in the right direction he’s been fine. He takes too many shots from bad angles but he’s a limited offensive player so it’s whatever.

Yea he's fine just saying that his scoring thus far tells you very little about whether you should expect him to score 1.1 pts/60 going forward or 2.0 pts/60 going forward.

It wasn't my list, but at any rate I think Driver brings up bad memories of him being pretty good for the Devils for a long time. But yeah, he was far from bad. Hatcher, Poti (kinda sorta), Redden, an assortment of others were worse. BUT, I think the guy who listed Driver was more in regards to maybe he didn't want to be here. Not sure if that is true or not.

The only guy I remember who actively didn't want to be here was Sylvain Leferbve.

Avery too before he got waived. That was more overall burnout and tired of the NHL lifestyle/game prep, not particularly the Rangers.

There is no evidence until posted that Bruce Driver didn't want to play in NY.

Edstrom missed 6 weeks, returns for 1 game in AHL and is immediately recalled. Sounds to me that if he was healthy, he would have arrived on the day that Fil had his setback.
It's evident he was supposed to be up when Othmann was called up and stay once Pitlick was injured, only he was injured.

Last year’s Conn Smythe winner is 5’9”.

How about we add good players instead of trees for the sake of adding trees? If someone is big and good then sure but no useless gritty “heart and soul” oafs. Goodrow Trouba and Lindgren are too many already.
Berard is a first year pro. His time will come as soon as next year. Sykora is a very young 19. Let these guys develop naturally and don't rush them.

So you’re saying we should trade for Nils Hoglander?

Brodz should either be the 4C, or the Rangers version of Chris Andersen aka The Birdman in the NBA; he comes off the bench (in this case the lineup) every few games, explodes for a few minutes, and then sits back down.

This is proper response to those who think Brodzinski solves the team’s 3C problem. I think NYR Viper is on the record to move Brodzinski to 4C.

From what I remember of that era, Lefebvre stuck around, it was Quintal who forced his way out. If it was indeed BOTH of them, f'ing sad. What a waste of an era.
You're right. It was Quintal who cried to the media he wanted to go back to Montreal. Those teams traumatized me.

Lee Stempiniak hated playing here. I don't have much inside info but I know that one.
AV hated him. It probably had to do with that.

That’s completely on AV and forced Stempniak to be traded for a healthy scratch. What a dumb and costly moved when Zuke went down.

I don’t advocate this but the Oracle says we’re adding Tarasenko, Roslovic, and Dermott without giving up a 1st or prospect of consequence depending on how you view Robertson.

How in the hell would the Rangers fit those guys? Rolslovic and Tarasenko make around $9m let alone Dermott.

All three are bad possession players so that’s fun.

Zubov had a bad playoff series vs. the Flyers in 1995. Smith panicked and thought because the Atlantic was hulking up that Zubov would be out of the league in 2-3 years.

He also smoked like a chimney.

Whether it's Messier, Smith, whomever, Bruce Driver the player is not a top ten worst Ranger all time. Not even close.
I never said 10 worst players. I said 3 Rangers who hated being a Ranger. I had seasons back then, and he was hated on from the get go. Maybe the fact that Ranger fans looked at him as Devil and didn't warm up to him, made it seem to US that it may be part of the reason why he may of regretted signing. Quintal was tops.

Kamensky played like Kuchariov at a skills competition. Lefebvre was dog shit too.

There is one more who, right wing, right shot, who signed for a mill per for a few years who bailed on the Rangers. I gotta go look it up. Can't remember his name right now.

Got it
Scott Fraser. That guy wanted a paycheck. Nothing more.

That is MY recollection.

Our whole section used to talk about how it seemed like he regretted signing with the Rangers pretty quickly.

I get that. There's no proof though he hated being here.

Maybe Rick Carpinello could shed some light on Twitter.
