So going with a 1A and 1B approach? It works for some teams.

I don’t know I prefer just giving the top unit like a little over a min , and just make corrections. I think it’s more the execution than the personal on the top unit.
It won't last unless they both produce. This is message sending "get your shit together and shoot" to the top unit.

Goodrow kills penalties. That's the only reason he's in there. Bonino did kill penalties, but he's gone. We need someone else to fill those minutes.

I don't think the terms PP1 and PP2 in this scenario are indicative of how much time each will get.
Edstrom will kill penalties eventually. Just not this season.

This is a good time to see Berard. I think Rempe needs more time to be a real option. Love Edstrom so far.
Berard is a smaller guy. Let him keep getting reps at the AHL level and producing. Let him get some playoff games down there, naturally gain strength, and train after a first pro season.

Then next season he either makes the team out of camp or gets spot work.

3 players thst stick out to me as the biggest insults to the Ranger jersey in regards to effort and desire would be . 3 players that seemed to despise every second in a Blueshirt.

Valeri Kemensky
Bruce Driver
Stephane Quintal
Driver is third on that list, but the other two were just putrid and hated being here.

I can think of at least 10 Rangers who were worse than Bruce Driver.

If you want to roll your eyes at someone, it's post-94 Neil Smith who was the one who decided to replace Zubov with Driver.

I’m also expecting that and it will just be a wash and a complete waste of picks. The only things that will move the needle are swapping out Wheeler/Goodrow. Edstrom for Pitlick is also basically pointless. Rearranging the deck chairs
Why don’t you think (even based on your own assessment of Pitlick) that Brodzinski goes to 4C and Goodrow would slide to wing? Even when Goodrow was on the line with Bonino, whom Brodzinski effectively replaced, Bonino was the center?

My understanding is that it was Messier than wanted Zubov out. Kind of feel like Neil Smith was marginalized by the bigger personalities back then.

Zubov had a bad playoff series vs. the Flyers in 1995. Smith panicked and thought because the Atlantic was hulking up that Zubov would be out of the league in 2-3 years.

He also smoked like a chimney.

Whether it's Messier, Smith, whomever, Bruce Driver the player is not a top ten worst Ranger all time. Not even close.

the love affair with Brodzinski is pretty pathetic. He is a minor leaguer for a reason. Not that good

What love affair? The guy started the season the AHL and has come in and been a solid bottom-6 option on a team lacking depth. His scoring in terms of points per 60 is pretty solid and he’s switched between both wing and center.

What do people want from him? Legitimately curious.

He has been great. I'm not sure that I get the hate. You couldn't ask for more from a call up.

You know when people talk about “replacement level player”?

Pitlick is he. Pitlick is the replacement level player.

I think that in an ideal world, Pitlick would be this teams 14th forward. And honestly, if Edstrom hadn’t been injured and Chytil was healthy, he probably is.

This was another no risk signing by Drury and he has served his role. It’s not perfect but teams need these guys

If I was Drury and I could re-sign Brodzinski I would. He’s a very good 12/13th forward and he likely won’t cost much. Plays both wing and center. Can be slotted up in the lineup for short periods.

Driver on the list is nonsense. They were 3 games away from the finals with him playing major minutes.
It wasn't my list, but at any rate I think Driver brings up bad memories of him being pretty good for the Devils for a long time. But yeah, he was far from bad. Hatcher, Poti (kinda sorta), Redden, an assortment of others were worse. BUT, I think the guy who listed Driver was more in regards to maybe he didn't want to be here. Not sure if that is true or not.

Rather have a young prosprct get those minutes, not some minor leaguer finally contributing at 30 years old.

He's fine but don't fall into the trap of small sample scoring rates. Right now his 5v5 scoring rate looks good. Two weeks ago it looked below average. A few good games massively swing the results. The fact that he's scoring 1.97 pts/60 this year through 335 minutes tells you very little about what to expect going forward.

Just for reference here are some other guys with good scoring rates who've played 200-400 5v5 mins this year. Sam Gagner. Jack McBain. Michael Pezzette. Julian Gauthier. Martin Pospisil. Bobby McMann. Pontus Holmberg. All over 1.7 pts/60. Certainly should not be expecting that to continue. It's just small sample stuff.

In fact, let's look at all forwards who played 200-500 mins or less last year with pts/60 over 1.75 and see how they are doing this year (again 200+ mins this year)
