Completely unrealistic number. Something much closer to the contract and the term that Chytil got would be a lot closer to where both the team and the player could agree on. I’m not a proponent but I think at this point Kakko would be looking for a change of scenery to restart his career and it would be on Drury to find a good deal. Your idea for him to be the principle in getting Hanifin with an extension. But the Rangers are already thin at RW this season so I don’t know if Calgary can accommodate us for this playoff run.
Another option would be a 1-year deal for Kakko at a modest bump. That would give both the team and the player a bit more time to figure things out.

Of course, just thinking the team/player relationship is coming to the point of separation and having someone like Hanifin coming back for the playoff run and well beyond is a solid return to start. I got a hunch that unlike las lt year Drury will be pretty busy this offseason involving big names and salary movements.

98-99. That was the most boring team I remember, and it wasn't even close. Made me literally stop watching hockey for a sizable chunk of that season.

Honorable mention: 02-03 after Bure got hurt, 03-04, 08-09, 17-18
3 players that stick out to me as the biggest insults to the Ranger jersey in regards to effort and desire would be .
3 players that seemed to despise every second in a Blueshirt.

Valeri Kemensky
Bruce Driver
Stephane Quintal

If we make an upgrade at center, Brodzinski will be out. They're not taking out Goodrow. They need him to do things and stuff.
I’m also expecting that and it will just be a wash and a complete waste of picks. The only things that will move the needle are swapping out Wheeler/Goodrow. Edstrom for Pitlick is also basically pointless. Rearranging the deck chairs

These mix and match PP units being tried today are a temporary measure for the regular season to get out of a slump. There's no way that in a 1-0 game in the playoffs when NYR get a PP that they go anything other than all the big guns for 90 seconds.

Ugh. PP2 is more of a PP1 than PP1 is, just replace Gus with Fox and Kakko with Kreider.

This team needs more fight. Stop slogging around.
The team needs more guys who care. These guys go out there and play pond hockey and do cardio. Watching this team I walk away every night thinking they care more about their opponents wanting to have a beer with them after the game than actually winning.

Softest team weve ever put on the ice in franchise history

Whose coffee did Laf piss in to not get PP1 time over Wheeler and Brodzinski?

glad to see Edstrom get another game but it should be at Goodrow‘s expense.
Goodrow kills penalties. That's the only reason he's in there. Bonino did kill penalties, but he's gone. We need someone else to fill those minutes.

I don't think the terms PP1 and PP2 in this scenario are indicative of how much time each will get.

I think it’s an upgrade. People exaggerate saying that this is the slowest team in the league (they’re actually above average) but the 4th line is slow across the board. Edstrom helps there.

Goodrow is the weakest link for sure but an upgrade on Pitlick would be welcome as well.

The only way Goodrow is coming out is if he gets hurt or gets into trouble off the ice. Lavi loves his bad trusty vets.

I wouldn't interpret this as 1 and 2. They're just two equal PPs, whichever one is better rested will likely start. They also keep lines consistent for juggling purposes.

The most important thing is that Gus is back on the PP. Much, much better than Trouba in that capacity. And honestly, Fox is by far the better all around player, but there are some small elements that Gus provides on the man advantage that Fox does not.

Should be Kakko.

Goodrow should be a healthy scratch until they can move him, barring injury.

If you're then saying that Fox is not on PP1... Then that's a completely different and more insane discussion.

So going with a 1A and 1B approach? It works for some teams.

I don’t know I prefer just giving the top unit like a little over a min , and just make corrections. I think it’s more the execution than the personal on the top unit.

I dont mind switching things up to break the slump and based on these lines i dont see one as the true PP1 over the other.

But my god seeing Brodzinki on these units is just painful. I know he has generally been on PP2 to this point, but it’s nauseating to have a guy who handles the puck like a grenade on the ice during with valuable time and space. Drury, please infuse other options at the deadline.

which ever unit has Fox is clearly PP1. Gustafsson is an okay QB but Fox is the guy who controls everything. These units are dumb and handicap one of the best PPQBs in the world
