They are currently on a 4 game win streak and just beat Colorado and Tampa. They are playing better aside from last night's game which they also won.
in the playoffs you need 4 wins vs one opponent. And they haven't been playing the right way to reasonably guarantee that.
The Avs and the Bolts wins are commendable alright, but I think you'll agree both of them looked quite a bit washed up in those particular games.

Avs washed up. They more than likely will battle Vegas to get to the Cup finals. TB may not be as good as they were but they still are a playoff team. Honestly every top team in the East can be beaten but right now The Rangers have as good a chance as any of them to get to the Finals as well.

Brodzinski with another goal. He’s quickly proving to be a more productive center than any of the rental options. And he’s free.
Even though Brodz has 9 assists, you'd want someone who is a little better of a passer setting up Kakko and Cullye.

Alex Kerfoot as a bargain bin option?

What would it cost for him and Zucker together from Arizona?

This is 100% it. Even teams that play well aren't guaranteed anything but theres nothing that this group has done that should inspire confidence.

Though I don't think the Avs looked washed at all as they thoroughly controlled that game for basically 35 minutes. Give the Rangers credit for pushing their way through that to eventually take over the game and win it.

What IS concerning is the arrogance of this group. Went up 3-1 and just assumed that they had won the game. They didn't learn shit from the San Jose game and it almost cost them.

They aren't good enough to carry that mentality and lately it seems like when ever they're about to turn a corner, they pull some bull shit.

Thats before getting to the roster problems. There isn't a perfect team in the east or the league, but there are more than a few teams who are closer to perfect than this one is.

Two absolutely gifted goals. Lets pump the breaks.

He should be the 12th/13th forward. He is absolutely brainless out there most of his shifts.

I’m not saying he’s perfect, and he’s not my idea 3C, but I’m not paying a 1st for Dowd or Henrique and the other options aren’t any better than Brodzinski. And it’s at least arguable that he’s better than Dowd too.

If I’m trading a 1st, I’m targeting Hanifan (just for all you haters)

Not advocating paying those prices. But at some point the Buyers will have spent their assets on other targets and/or will refuse to pay prices on certain players and one or more of those targets will come down to earth. Or other players will become available as we get closer. Or your idea of Kevin Hayes will come about.

But we absolutely cannot enter the playoffs with Brodzinski getting Top 9 minutes at any position.

It Hayes is available and it’s reasonable that’s an addition that makes sense but I see Henrique and Dowd being prime rentals. Those teams will retain and there will be bidders. Not interested.

Add a couple of depth pieces to help in case of an injury. I’d even go as far as to call up Berard and see what he can do for a few games.

I think there are gona be some more names out there.

I do want to see Berard. Edstrom when healthy as well.

I wonder if Dallas would move Faksa to open up cap space for another move. They have a very veteran laden group. They may push their chips to the middle of the table. In which case, he probably has minimal cost as he’s mainly a cap dump but he’d be a nice addition as 3C. One more year after this one. $3.25m cap hit.

He can slot it for Goodrow who has fallen off a cliff

Hopefully some team out west is dumb enough to take him

I’d really like Dowd

I think Brodzinki as the 4C is probably fine but going into the playoffs with him as your 3C, you’re destined to be bounced early

I think brod has shown that if he's in the lineup it shouldn't be as a 4c, and his playstyle isn't a 4th line style.

I dont think our 4th line is the absolute cluster everyone has it being in the playoffs.
I also dont think Lavi considers this team a finished product.
Playing with lines, saying the win was a bad one.

We are currently first in the metro, and for once we have a half decent prospect pool.
We're in a good spot for the long term.

One of the Rangers or the Canes are almost a certainty at this point to win the division and the Rangers have the edge. That team will most likely face the first wild card team and whether it's the Lightning, Red Wings, Flyers, Islanders, Penguins all those teams have serious roster and team construction issues. Even the Canes.....as much as Igor's been mediocre their goaltending is even IMO more questionable than ours.

To me the issue isn't whether we can win a series or two....it's I don't think we have enough horses to win 4 and unless Igor and the defense can work out some kinks......? But looking at the Panthers last year.....made the playoffs pretty much the last game and then all the way to the finals. It's a funny game. A team needs luck and it needs to stay away from serious injuries. If there's an add I would like to add a steady strong D with some physical presence because I don't think we don't think we protect net front very well and I think that's added to Igor's issues this year. Solid defense usually helps a lot in playoffs.
