They still suck

Truth.

Praise to Lavi for salvaging Laf but I’ve already started to lose faith in him otherwise. Refusing to split the bromance is going to be the end of me.

That and using the 4th line like they’re a lock down defensive line. They had a nice run, but they’ve been getting their asses handed to them lately.

On no, they all also suck and gag
just no

we have few early picks, yet you want to give away our mid picks
have we not decimated our youth part of the equation enuf.

Again NO.

beyond no x 2
stop

while he would be an improvement, I am not sure he is the right guy
What he would cost as ufa remains to be seen.
Any reasonable # we can swallow, like Tro as a comp, is fine
Crazy big # w/big term, no

Bern look up his often a 4 th rounder makes the nhl. Like 10 percent

You think they are doing nothing ? It’s better than suggesting Dealing rounds 1-3

They have the 3rd most pts in the league but stink according to fans. It’s not perfect but they are definitely buying

Under absolutely no circumstances should they be buyers. Holy shit.

No pulse.

If you think they won’t be you’re not being realistic

They are 1st place and have 2x more wins than loses. First 20 games were amazing . Next 20 meh . Long season

Fans act like trading picks that rarely make the nhl is crazy when it’s standard practice

Complain about dealing a 1-2 sure not a 4th for Vatrano for example . That’s the type of deal they absolutely should make

Kreider to Zib was the winning goal lol

But yes 5x5 they should mix it up

This team needs more than just another D, center and winger. They look stale. The Rangers are winning games because the other teams are worse than them. The Avs have no depth and are playing their top players too many minutes. They took Parise off his couch in Minneapolis and put him into the lineup. TB is on their last legs. That team has lost so players from their Cup teams. Granted those players are now older and not doing much for their new teams. Chicago sucks.

The Rangers are 3-0.

Gustafsson allows Foligno to score the 3-2 goal. Tie up the stick. Put a body on Foligno.

Darren Pang said Gustafsson is not on the inside of Foligno. He is nowhere. The fancy stats say Gustafsson is worth $5M. $6M.

Vince said his boy Gustafsson was outworked. Vince is lost.

Ryan Whitney knows the deal. Big defenseman. Time and Space. No room in the offensive zone. The fancy skating finesse teams don't win in the playoffs. Tough forwards.

That doesn't sound like the Rangers and we know it. Maybe if they add this player and that player, maybe they win two or three playoff series.

Goodrow is a disaster at $3.6M. Someone brought up retaining money a few days ago. How much to make Goodrow a worthy acquisition? I was watching a TSN video and they were discussing Cup contenders specifically Edmonton looking to add bottom six players. Edmonton needs another top 6 forward, bottom six player and another D. Anything else? Play off the teams in the west. Vegas, Edmonton. Vancouver. Dallas. Colorado. That Vegas-Edmonton first round series will be a doozy. VAN wins the division. Looks like Vegas-Edmonton. Free up the money and add another player or two.

1) whether or not league avg = 10%, R mgmt could do better
Would not surprise me if several on this board could.
2) But even if you overlook that, you are adding trade chips, which can be useful for upgrade/flexibility.

e.g., this is a 4th. You add a 3rd. Voila, you may recover a 2nd that you don't have now.

STOP THROWING THIS SHIT AWAY

Vats commands more than the 4th we lucked getting him for prior
But dat wuz den an dis is now
We have already gone to the cupboard too much too often
Have to replenish/recharge before we start even thinking about this more moderately in the future.

Might they do that anyway?
Sure, won't be the first time R mgmt does not listen to bern and gets it wrong.

Setting aside injury is always an x factor
there is no certain 1 or 2 adds which are almost gonna virtually guarantee a cup
if that is the case, the correct play is to go younger and enlarge our window, not shorten it.

We need to make some fundamental changes to this roster anyway b'c 5x5 is pitiful atrocious, and in POs there is no shoot out.

STOP AND THINK

Since early this season, have been pushing eat 1.6x to make it an even 2m per.
Howev
if we add young pivots in other deals we can delay this for a season [enhancing his value by reducing term], and play him at LW

Even if the Rangers don’t trade for him, Hanifan would be a fantastic add in UFA
Not worth giving up assets to trade for him but we should go after him this offseason.

I wanna see our d core turned upside down this offseason.

Move lindgren and trouba

Sign Hanifin and a lower cost puck moving dman for bottom pair while elevating schneider to 2nd pair.

In other news, there are no “perfect” teams in the NHL.

Like this post is wild. The Team is sitting 3rd in the NHL and its not to any credit of their own, its other teams stink. Colorado has “no depth”… no, they do, shit happens; like Nichushkin going into the Player Assistance program, Lehkonen having an awful year, losing their backup goalie, among other things. They have to play reinforcements just like we have to play Brodzinski. TB same deal.

Is this team perfect? By no means they are. But they didnt get to 3rd in the league in February because every single win was luck to this point. There are good pieces here. And this current position in the standing should take into account losing a Norris defenseman early in the season which couldve derailed everything. They lost Igor for a stretch. They lost Kakko. Chytil. Not to mention who knows who else is banged up. Goodrow missing teeth. Vesey. Now Gus. Lindgren. Where is the credit for this group? f*** yeah I do believe if we add a competent 3C and a winger at minimum we will be a strong threat. I would like to see a D as well. Hanifan or Middleton. And if you truly want to play the “league is weak” card then this is the year to capitalize. Carolina’s goaltending and scoring depth is shit. NJ is LOL. Ovechkin flatlined in the blink of an eye. PIT is FINALLY falling apart. Just keep on going down the list.

Plenty of examples where they recoup picks
Lemieux, Howden , Reaves ,etc
You don’t trade players for picks in season often though.

People like to complain . Glass half empty.

I’m not gonna say they don’t have flaws but all teams do. They are still a top 10 contender and have a shot no doubt .

It’s all about how they are playing going into the postseason . They are going to add to show the guys they believe in them.

Most of their success is from their great start. They haven't really played well for a while now.

On January 1st, this team was 25-9-1. Since then, we are 8-7-2, and that's riding a 4-game win streak.

Which team do you feel is closer to their actual level? Fil is gone for the year. Kakko hasn't produced like we hoped. The first line hasn't produced like we expected. Defensively, we've regressed since earlier in the year. Igor is struggling.

There are a lot of things going wrong right now, and I've yet to see our coach do anything to address them, other than starting Quick more. All we heard about coming into the season was how they would play 1-2-2 at times. We must be the worst trapping team in the history of the league. We don't stop anyone rushing through the neutral zone. Where is the defensive structure?

Point at 3rd place all you want, but this team isn't a cup contender right now.

For funsies name the cup contenders and I guarantee I can find flaws

Igor still looks so not Igor at times. Like the second goal rebound. He’s just not playing aggressive enough for 60 min.

As Vitto said, this is a glass half empty approach.

No one is saying the team doesn’t have its warts. But so do many other teams. They werent gifted wins during their “hot start”. As i already made mention of they won a lot of those games without Fox and Igor. They then lost Chytil and Kakko. They were playing AHL bodies. Bonino fell off the cliff he was barely hanging onto. While I cant speak to every team’s schedule, they have had a weird one with a lot of back-to-backs. To me they are starting to turn it around. During that bad stretch everyone was playing bad, including Fox.

For all the bad you want to point out there is a lot of good too. Quick, Panarin, Trocheck, Laf, Fox, Vesey, Cuylle. Yes I am going to lend myself to believe Igor will find his game, or at least certainly be better. Mika will be better. Kreider has been ok as is. These past few games Miller and Kakko have been much better. Kakko is much more engaged shooting a lot more. Miller has been physical using his size and reach. Goodrow has been skating much better since the shield was removed, he looks like he has more energy.

So yes I believe if they add a real Top 9 center between Cuylle-Kakko, and a Top 6 RWer to slot Wheeler down, this team will be much better. A D would be nice, but it depends on the market and cost. I think there are a lot more forwards on the market than D, specifically any D that may even be worth trading for.

And yes I would love for Kreider and Mika to be split up at ES. I think it has to happen. Those two lull themselves into bad habits. They are less assertive when together, very nonchalant in how they play. Its time to split them up. Lavy started experimenting last night. PP needs to find itself as well. It cost them the game against the Sharks and Capitals. They didnt put those games away.

The next 3 games are very winnable. Then all the sudden they are 10-7-2 since January 1st. Its a long season. The Break + ASG Break has helped.

Trade for Zucc, Buch and McDonagh and let's start calling statue artists to prepare for Drury's ceremony outside of MSG
