not really anything the Rangers need all things considered. We've seen what Gauthier is, multiple teams have, it's just not appealing enough.

But the PP is not a reason to get or not get a player. If the Rangers can add a 22 year old center with high end offensive talent they should do it.

yeah for all the Zegras sucks stuff now if they could get him and you think you can get him to recognize the defensive zone and tone down the stupid turnovers you also get a guy who easily has 80 point upside in the right situation

I'm not sure how you can equate this team to the TB team... but sure...

This team doesn't need a 3C... this team needs a core.

Goodrow, Coleman were complementary pieces to a pretty amazing core of players.

Point, Stamkos, Kucherov, Hedmen, Vailevskiy... All 30 or under at the time.

They were able to find complimentary players that helped that core take a step.


This core is not that... and will never be that. Adding complimentary pieces to a sub par core is futile.

(Also have never won a Cup in a year with a full regular season, just sayin) If the Rangers dont make a deep run this year there will be changes in the summer. Not sure why some people want that to be the outcome, but it will happen if the team chokes again.

We don't want that to be the outcome... but it's a likely outcome given how inept the drafting has been.

Do you think we are the only team to mess up draft picks? We don't do it at a rate worse than any other team. And Lafreniere is scoring at a first line rate with no PP time, can we stop using him as an example of failed development to live down to a main boards narrative?

No certainly not... but only one team per year wins the cup... and that team usually hits on a few high end draft picks.

It's difficult to win a Stanley Cup. We are not a perfect team, but we have the ability to do it if our players play to their abilities. That's really all you can ask for. We are in a way very lucky that the only time our team has missed the playoffs in the last 18 years has been when it was our stated goal not to. Not that the team is immune from criticism, hell I do it a lot, especially immediately following losses lol. The constant fatalism is really tiring though.

Arizona is definitely the team to be on the phone with. Right now, they're lining up Cooley on the 4th line and I believe their #2 PP. His role on this team is only going to grow. Geekie is waiting in the wings to be on their roster for next season. Outside of those two I'd think their centers are going to be available.

Hayton, Bjugstad, McBain, and Kerfoot. Could they move Kerfoot to the wing? Sure, but they're pretty solid on the wings as well. I think any of these four players would be a nice upgrade at 3C and would be worth giving up assets for since, with the exception of Bjugstad, have either term on their deal or would be under team control.

I'm sure they want to push forward and try and sneak in, but maybe this is the landing spot for Lindgren? Their defense is missing a lot of what he can bring to a young team. For all the warts, he has the things that a traditionally losing organization is looking for to help turn things around.

It was meant for the original post I replied to. Saying that he would have much better numbers on a better team. He wouldn’t be getting those minutes on this team because of who’s in front of him. He’d be getting kakko type minutes of 9-12 minutes a game if coach L has his way. This team loves to keep the young guys down as much as possible. It’s the Rangers way.

BTW; I'm not directing this at you or GAGline, just in general; but trading him now would be moronic; you'be selling him low anyway. Defenceman take a little longer to fully develop and he hasn't been playing defence that long. He has the tools; he just has to get the toolbox.

Make a couple of minor moves not using KK or first rounders and let TIME be our friend . Maybe a few cold guys bounce back in the playoffs ! We might even catch a break in a round . Play some rookies down the stretch and get some guys healthy .
