There are parts of rebuilding that are so easy: Acquire unwanted players for picks, give them prime PP minutes to make them look good, and finally trade them away for picks.

The hard part: the picks don’t mean much if Gorton and Bobrov keep choosing the wrong players.

I love watching insiders be massively wrong. Hayes at double 50% for a 4th? Yes, please.

A first + for a guy with his injury history is crazy

This is why the chart dorks give themselves a bad name. Cherry pick the data and just write a silly little "MoNaHan iS bELoW aVeRaGe". Monahan has always been a fantastic player. Injuries derailed his career. I wanted zero to do with acquiring him just for the simple fact that I don't trust him to stay healthy. Then there was another one where they give some brief silly little synopsis with zero context. No mention of the fact that he's actually healthy this year, no mention that he was ladened with injuries the past few years. Just spit out some chart and pretend like you know the player

Monahan isn't a fit.

He isn't even worth a 2nd. I know hes having a "nice" year but there are injury concerns and his numbers are minutes+PP driven. He wont get those here.

He sucks defensively too. Easiest of passes.

That's crazy. Say what you want about Monahan, but he's clearly a good NHL contributor this year and cheap for what he's doing.

Wouldn't say 'fantastic'. He's been a solid player. That chart includes 22 and 23 where he was injured and playing extremely shitty, causing cGy to give a 1st to jettison him.

But no doubt he's turned it around, he's been good for the canadiens this year.

Kings firing McClellan is interesting. Maybe they look to shake things up if they continue to fall down the standings. Only holding on to a spot by 2 points.

Lmao Monahan sucks ass. Bad defensively, puts up most of his points on the PP, and breaks if you look at him wrong.

What an overpay

Sure, but unless you're going to carry him over to play the same minutes/role to your team, those numbers won't continue.

He got top 6 minutes and top PP time in Montreal. He wouldn't have gotten that here and he won't get that in Winnipeg. His ATOI in Montreal was 18:27. He's going to see that cut by 2 min or more.

I see a guy who is having a decent statistical season considering his role who has a pretty significant injury history (especially recently) who provides nothing but offense, but won't be put in the same position to continue to produce the way that he has this year.

I'm very, very VERY happy that the Rangers did not pay that price. I'm hoping that they stay away from the rental market all together outside of the usual 4th round pick for a plug and play 4th liner. If they're going to make moves, they should be hockey trades.

Monahan is going to get good opportunity in WPG, Vlad Namestnikov is playing 2C for them. he should supplant him. and he'll be playing with some good wingers.

I agree with Rangers and not giving up a 1st, sure. he doesn't fit with Zibanejad and Trocheck. but @ 2M, easily worth a 2nd round pick for a lot of teams.

he's been used defensively in MTL, 38% zone starts on that team, i wouldn't expect good underlying numbers. I think peole are underrating him personally.

not some world beater but he's been a good player.

Lol Montreal got a 1st for taking on Monahan's contract from the Flames and now they get another first trading him 18 months later.

That's some work by Montreal. Maximum value they got there.

100%.

That pick is most likely going to be Bobrov'd though so the excitement will turn to anger in a few months.
