You want to trade Lafreniere because of overpay but keep Zibanejad?
No.
1. LaF to be traded IF other team adequately overpays.
Did not say we are overpaying him in $$$
Zib has unbreakable full nmc until like week before TD in last yr of his deal.
Until re-emerging this season, you could make the case bread MIGHT waive cause it's gonna be ugly end of his deal, he ain't getting a sniff of big $$$$ and he might not get an offer from us at all. So under the right circumstances, he'd be a maybe to deal now.
But Zib, we can only hope to figure out how to return his game w/complementary linemates
When Edmonton was struggling and McDavid wasn't his usual self it
would have been a good opportunity to include Igor in a large trade package for McDavid. Alas that window has closed just like my chance to buy AMZN stock in 2000 after the bubble burst.
McD not on the table unless/until he demands out.
LeoDrai was a possible
As you all know, I am generally in favor of flipping even productive guys IF THERE IS enuf profit to take the assets recovered, develop them, rinse and repeat = cumulative building of assets = strong productive team
Unfortunately, mgmt succumbed to win now crowd, we did rentals, etc and all I have to share with you as consolation is I wuz right an dey wuz wrong.
Shesty should have been sold earlier IF the return was high enuf
Now we have to just improve the team and wait til he returns to form.
Remember, Hank WAS all that and a bag of chips, but he did go thru like a week long stretch 2 or so yrs before the end where he had the yips or whatev and was briefly putrid. As long as Igor still has his reflexes, we can make use of him, although he will not be a sell high return trade chip until he returns to form
it's true. But I believe the criteria was last 30 years.
70s 80s had some winners for sure.
Trading Buch was so f'ing stupid.
Trading Buch was NOT stupid
Not listening to bern, and waiting until he only had a sliver of rfa rights before making a deal, greatly reducing his value, THAT was BEYOND stupid
people want to move Shesterkin, who's taking over? Garand would have to be a true #1 and are we confident he's ready for that yet? I like Garand but he might take some time. Or are we signing a plug tender from this UFA list this summer and waiting patiently for Garand to inch his way towards becoming a #1?

Russian goalies are notoriously hot & cold. He might never be what he was during the 21-22 season but I think he will figure things out and if anything, this drops his value a bit so we don't have to end up paying him 10M. I'm fine hitching our horses to Shesty at 8M or maybe a little under 8, even if it is for another 8 years. Look at the teams in this league that have struggled for YEARS to find any sort of goaltender they can call their #1, I don't think we want to end up like that. Moving Shesty should be reserved as a desperate last resort type of move.
No, while there are exceptions to every rule, the rule here is no sacred cows.
Everyone should be available to a sell high trade, incl Shesty
prob there is we didn't deal him way earlier
Urgently needed is adoption of NO EFFIN NMCs to anyone, period
If you don't like it, kma and buh bye
Yes people sometime look at recent times but Middleton for Hodge is the worst of all time. Middleton had 5 straight years with 40+ goals and 90+ points. Over 14 seasons, had 448 goals and 540 assists. In 2 years, the last of his career Hodge had 23 goals and 44 assists.
Yes, and let's not forget why I curse Emile cat Francis regularly
