@Amazing Kreiderman doesn't miss with his takes because it's cold hard facts, Zibanejad has been ass and he seems to be regressing each game I watch. Can't believe there are some that still defend him and his 8.5M contract. I used to love the guy but that love turned into contempt real quick. If only we had a true ELITE #1C

I'm not there yet, and I don't root for it, but I do wonder if the best thing for this org wouldn't be to fall to a WC spot or completely out of the playoffs. It's not out of the question. This team is not a safe bet to place top 3 in the Metro.

Zibanejad hasn’t been good but those stats are extremely misleading and yes it is a small sample. Even a single season is a small sample for things like scoring. That’s how you end up with seasons with guys like William Karlsson shooting 25% and scoring 40 goals. Sample sizes aren’t just big enough because they feel like they’re big because it’s so far into the season.

The lack of his 5v5 scoring is largely just due to a big drop off in secondary assist rate which is very variable. His primary pts/60 as a ranger each year (oldest first) has been: 0.98, 1.03, 1.57, 2.26, 1.64, 1.63, 1.81, 1.49. We’re not talking about something way out of the norm here. He had one major outlier season where he shot a lot more and a lock of pucks went in the rest can easily variable just by shooting results.

It is also somewhat funny how Kakko doesn’t have the offensive results but the narrative is about how much he drives play and makes the team score more etc. but with Zibanejad the fact that for 5 years running he/Kreider have outscored the opposition is totally neglected because they haven’t had the individual scoring stats.

If we graph those numbers it looks pretty close to a bell curve, and unfortunately the go-forward trend is a really bad one.

No? It’s basically a straight line with one huge outlier in the middle over the last 6 years. The first two seasons were before he broke out and also had a major injury. That’s a range of 1.49-1.81 where the difference can be easily explained by sh%

I can’t get into the stats argument again. People can believe what they want. He obviously hasn’t been very good just based on watching him but you should certainly not believe everything that AK (or sometimes myself) happens to post as data without context or understanding of samples is not very valuable. Bad or misleading stats is far worse than no stats at all.

No hyperbole, he’s producing like an average to below average 3C right now. And it’s not a small sample size.
forget about his production it's the way he plays. Even on the pp now he loses board battles in a millisecond. You see a guy like Trocheck taking on two guys behind the net down 4-1 tonight. He must look at a guy like Mika who would never do that and say "why the f*** am I killing myself"

I’d be curious to know if the Chytil situation is affecting Zib mentally. Zib seems to be pretty far removed from his concussion problems, but it’s gotta be pretty scary watching a colleague go through what Fil is going through.

Not an excuse, just looking for an explanation for his lack of engagement.

What do the Rangers do with Igor? What type of injury did Igor have a few months ago? He looks awful. The Rangers aren’t doing anything if Igor looks like this. Drury could add Messier circa 1987 but if the goalie can't stop the puck, the Rangers are not winning. Igor's contract is up after next season.

Does Drury trade Igor? He better be careful paying him.

A team doesn't need the clear #1 goalie in the NHL to win.

These are big decisions. Drury is all by himself. The Rangers don't have a president of hockey operations and a GM. This job is too big for one guy.

The status quo isn't working. This core group has been together for a while. This group isn't winning with a few rental adds. The problems run much deeper.

If the Bruins ever moved on from Swayman, he would be a good addition. Bostom made some nice trades over the years. Ryan Donato to Minnesota for Charlie Coyle. I remember Coyle was a top prospect after leaving BU for the Q. He never became a top player in Minnesota after the trade from SJ in the Burns deal. Coyle has emerged at the age of 31 after the retirements by Bergeron and Krejci.

Huala to the Devils for Zacha. Another good trade. Zacha isn't the player he was projected to be but he is a good NHL player. He was better last season for Boston than this season.

Frederic has taken big step up for the Bruins. He has improved so much in the last couple of seasons. Plays hard. Competes. Added goal scoring.

I think Drury's big shake up should start with Igor. Could probably get a nice player and a pick.

Can also be a shot in the arm for the team. I say that cause Igor doesn't just look like he isn't playing well. His body language looks like he doesn't want to play at all.
