Bad, very bad for Fil. Have to LTIR and use his money now. Bolster the roster and see what they can do, Forget the stupid trade the core fantasies until the offseason. If they suck in the playoffs then ship guys out. Fils money, lose Goodrow in the sofa cushions. Send Brod down. Get a real Dman for Jones spot. What's out there with the money they'd have?
 
how about Nico Sturm? maybe not a flashy 3C but i think he would be fine there. wouldn't cost much, only 2M cap hit and he's signed for next year, would be a really strong 4C if Chytil comes back. then we still have room to trade for some depth.

Since today has been pretty crappy so far, let's get crazy. Crosby and Guentzal with double retention ($3.635 combined cap hit, covered by Chytil's LTIR) for Othmann, Jones, 2025 and 2027 #1.

Kreider - Crosby - Guentzal
Panarin - Trocheck - Laff
Cuylle - Zib - Kakko
Vesey - Goodrow - Wheeler/Pitlick
 


Seravelli is spot on here with Dowd. Did a significant post on him earlier this thread.

He's what Goodrow is supposed to be. Do it all forward and not just for this season. Bunch of other good names in here to get.

Some will laugh, but Kevin Hayes would be a good fit too. Maybe not best for this system though, but he'd be dirt cheap. Oh, and he can play RW too.

truthfully I don't think it would take Perreault, maybe Othmann since it's Verbeek we're talking about but I think they would value a guy like Kakko with a vision of him playing alongside Carlsson, which could end up being a lethal combo if Kakko turns it around.

Zegras seems more and more like an inevitability

No chance Pittsburgh trades Crosby to NYR

I’m not sure that’s acceptable value even without retention

Retention is going to cost a few more draft picks than that

Nic dowd come on down! Rangers trading a 1st for 2 years of Dowd retained at league minimum will be hated by everyone here but is actually good business. In before @Machinehead shows us a chart that says he sucks. All I know is that he kills us and plays with an edge

Maybe they can bounce back and go on another strong run ? How is that a crazy thought if they add depth ?

No team does what you suggest ever that’s facts.

Any Brian Boyle type of trades, a young player on the way out from one organization to another dealt for a pick and then make a name for himself for the New York Rangers and in the NHL?


Remember when the Rangers dealt for Brian Boyle which was considered an out of nowhere acquisition

First of all, Crosby is not going anywhere. He's going to retire a Penguin. He has won it all, being a one club man is an achievement on its own, no matter how ugly the last years are (this is why it hurts so much that Lundqvist signed with Caps, despite not playing any games with them).

Second of all, if such a crazy thing were to happen that Crosby would play somewhere else but Pittsburgh, I see only two options: Edmonton and Colorado. Playing with McDavid or MacKinnon, chasing a cup. Rangers wouldn't intrigue him at all.

wow. a whopping 41.38% xGF! That's better than...Goodrow, Bonino, Pitlick, and Jones. His Goals For% of 60.71% is gonna crater at some point soon.
