any cap experts here? Does Waiving Bonino save us any cap? I know he makes pretty much nothing but still. Or does he have to be claimed for us to save a few bucks on the cap?

Have no clue why people are so willing to get rid of Brodz. He's a decent 4th liner. His speed on the forecheck is a nice tool. He doesn't have to light it up but he can't be a massive negative like Goodrow or Bonino.

I'd be OK with Pitlick Brodz Vesey as a 4th line

He clears all the time to the AHL so that will tell ya he’s a bubble guy

Get better

Ruzicka rips ass.

People are just seeing 6'4" and going entirely off of that.

this teams problem is not the 4th line. He's more than serviceable and I'd argue a line of Pitlick Brodz Vesey would be as/if not more effective than the past iteration.

What I could see is:

Drury put in a claim on Ruzicka
Drury decides he would be an upgrade on Bonino and therefore waives Bonino
Drury calls up Lesch just in case someone else claims him

Likely minimal. I mean he makes slightly more than Lesch but not much. If this means they will actually send guys down to start accruing space then maybe it could help

Would you mind also sharing last years? That's a pretty small sample on a bad team is why I ask

A bit better but he still doesn't drive offense.

Calgary isn't putting a big bodied, 24 year old talent on waivers for no reason.

We don't need another big 4th liner who can't produce.

Brooks article saying the Rangers think Brodz will get claimed. Hes earned the 13th forward role when the team is at full strength. Pitlick probably a waiver casualty at the deadline the latest.

I don't think another Vesey is going to cut it. I think this roster needs an actual 70 point winger in order to field a roster on paper that can win multiple playoff series.

The short version is that we tried to replace Tarasenko on the cheap with Wheeler. It hasn't worked. Wheeler hasn't been any more effective than Kakko, he's just knocked in a slightly higher proportion of his chances.

My. only question is whether Wheeler goes to the 4th line or the bench when a trade is made.

Ah so Bonino got Jeff Halpern'd

Tarasenko would be a fine fit.

Tarasenko and Ridly Greig (center depth) from Ottawa

For a 2nd, Goodrow, and a prospect (Edstrom? Berard?)

does a bottom dweller claim Goodrow if he's waived? Looking at Chicago

the locker room needs a wake up call

4 Games until the ASG and bye week. I think if we go 1-3 Drury will seriously consider it. Everyone and their mother knows he's getting bought out in the summer anyway. What would the cap savings be on that for this year?

I would be careful giving up on Berard. He has looked decent in Hartford and could be what this team needs for the bottom 6 in a year or two.
Plus I doubt the Sens make that trade.

Actually depth is a. Issue
I’d waive Pitlick before Brodz but they should be replacing multiple F eventually

Im not a big fan of trading actual prospects at this deadline. Picks im fine with but its -EV to trade young forwards who can help next year when we only currently have 3 (4 when Chyil is back) healthy sub-30 year old forwards.

agreed. Guys like Sykora, Berard and to lesser extent Edstrom and Rempe need to be given a chance to give our bottom 6 some actual youth and talent.
