I said the Rangers missing the playoffs is not the end of the world. I wasn't calling for AV like some people were. It happens. Very competitive league. His name is Zuccarello. I seem to remember people here thought Zuccarello was worth $2M per. Why the hostility? Do I talk to you that way?

:shakehead:shakehead:shakehead

and yeah, you talk down to everyone.

the longer this plays out, the more i wonder if the rangers will make a run at Leon Draisaitl in terms of a trade.

:whaaa?:

I mean they'd probably have to gut the entire roster and then pay the guy the largest contract the team has ever given out but sure why not

Does Edm have room for him? If Johanson got 8 mill I would think Leon might get 9-10 mill.

Hypothetically lets say we gave him a offer sheet of 9.8 mill and did a heavy front load in the 2nd year to try to avoid it being matched. Would 9.8 mill be that much different than Nash's 7.8 mill considering Leon is like 21 or 22? I say hypothetically because players moving via offer sheet just does not happen in the NHL.

I dunno..could you do Zucc, Hayes, DeAngelo, etc for him?

Salary wise it will be a nightmare..but its not impossible. Rangers can 1 year bridge him till next year, and then figure things out with Nash leaving the books...

Starts with Kreider and doesn't stop there, and I'm not entirely convinced that a lot of Draisaitl last year wasn't totally McDavid driven.

I think Leon has been a natural point producer even without McDavid. He doesn't blow me away in terms of skating but he has shown a real nose for the net.

i wouldnt be talking offer sheet, id be talking Trade.

I do not think that trade is possible for Leon. Its not about the money. We could always find room money wise but DeAngelo has minimal value right now. Zooks has a short deal and will be 30.

if you did do Hayes, Zucc and DeAngelo/Holden for him...

Then you could roll...

Kreider - Zibanejad - Buchnevich
Vesey - Draisaitl - Nash
??? - Miller - Grabner
Fasth - DD - ???

pretty thin on the wing now...but I guess that could be filled from within if Lias were to make the team, or you could sign Jagr/Vanek

He kinda reminds me of Tavares...in that his skating is awful to look at, but hes real good with the puck on his stick and his back to the net..he spins off and makes nice moves to open up lanes.

Excellent passer.

In the past two seasons, he's played 1500 minutes away from McDavid, and 675 minutes with him. His on-ice GF60 drops a full goal away from McDavid, and his CF% drops 3 points.

He goes from a 59% GF% player to a 49% GF% player.

No denying that Draisaitl is good. But the cost it would take to acquire him + that long-term contract that's going to be easily $8m+ AAV? I'd let another team take that gamble.

He also finds a way to get separation despite his skating stride. I have wanted him for 3 years because all he does is produce.

I suspect most players would benefit from being with Conor but Leon has produced in JRs, in Europe, in the minors, in the World Cup and with the Oilers (while Conor was injured). Many Oiler fans felt like Leon outplayed Conor in last years playoffs.

i went to just last year since i feel like that team/production was more of what id expect to see of Draisaitl going forward...what you said definitely still holds true though, so its a concern.

the other interesting thing is that Draisaitls most common linemates after McJesus/Maroon and McJesus/Lucic becomes..

Maroon/Puljujarvi, and Maroon/RNH...and then Lucic/Slepyshev...

its interesting to look at some of their numbers as a line...

wasn't it you who said during the playoffs that it was draisitl making mcdavid look good?

I think I'd rather target Mackinnon than Draisatl just based on perceived cost of both.

??? Joe Sakic would want Skjei, McDonagh, Kreider, Henrik, next 45 first round draft picks, etc.

To me...its about which GM is more notorious for making awful trades. Chiarelli is imho a bottom 5 GM...Sakic is also a bottom 5 GM...but both for very different reasons.

I should speak to everyone respectfully even if I do not like how you sometimes portray things. I sincerely apologize. I should not take the low road. With that said last week you called posters stupid and imbeciles so you should consider that as well.

I know what Zuccarellos name is. Some people prefer Zuc. Some people prefer Zooks. Many people do not type up many peoples full names.

Back in 2013 you were happy Zooks was benched after 6 games. He got off to a bad start but it was 6 games. You did complain that he made 1.15 mill after not playing a full season yet he led our team in points that season so maybe our team made a good signing?

You just said if we re-signed Cally it would have been worse but back in 2013 you said Cally was a must sign.

Back in 2013 you repeatedly made posts implying it was unlikely we would make the playoffs. It was only October. We made the cup finals.

Now I do not want to make you eat crow but you should realize we all make mistakes. I do, you do, Slats does, Gorton does.....etc. None of us is perfect or infallible.

You were the one who made an issue of that last week. Something about Zuccarello being traded. What's with your obsession with Zuccarello? Say anything bad about him and the Zuccarello gestapo come looking for you. Zuccarello. He was not playing well and people were blaming AV. The same people who thought Zuccarello was worth $2M. He barely played in the league and he was worth all of the money in the world. He was barely playing like a $1.15M player. It was all AV's fault. He did a pretty good job taking them to the Finals. This is all about Zuccarello.
