Disappointing they're going to arbitration

Pretty big chance they agree upon something before The Arbitrator comes with a decision. If we sign a one year deal it will be for $4.725.000. If it is a longer deal well over $5M per, we may very well see a heralded Marc Staal buyout this weekend. Time will tell. My prediction is 5 years for 5,25-5,4 M per

Going to Vegas in 3 weeks. Good to know ;)

Now it will be very interesting to see what Jeff Gorton does
Maybe nothing?
Maybe something Brilliant?
Time will tell
I myself definitely sense a move coming though...
Maybe two
Sign Gelinas at around 650.000
Trade one of Staal/Holden

5 years was exactly what I was hoping for.

I like the way we have been doing things this offseason.

Smith-4 years
Shatty-4 years
Zibs-5 years

Those are long term deals but short enough that we retain some flexibility if they go badly. I hate anchor contracts.

Agreed. The only players getting Max term deals are true superstars. McDavid, Crosby, etc...

That is exactly the way I think. The reward doesn't usually beat the risk for non elite players. Even some of those megaterm contracts for the elites have turned out badly.

now Mika's half brother is a bonafide experience NHL agent.

Assuming there was 3 points (family discount) on the deal for the Agent, that an $802,500 deal for the Agent. Not sure what his company's take would be "if" he's not the owner. Nice payday!

Seems like Gorton has learned from Sather's past mistakes and generally not handing out long term deals that take players into their mid to late thirties. I really like how he's been operating.

So 3 day cooldown prior to the buyout window will be Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday? Then the buyout window will be Saturday and Sunday.

Ironically, if there were to be 6 year deals handed out, any of these three would do real well with them.
