Maybe, but I think our team not winning is proof that having a buyout of a player every summer is a serious hindrance. Wouldn't that 3.5 million in dead space be real nice right about now? That's a whole ass good player. Haha

I would not think that is "proof" whatsoever

If Drury is smart, he's trying to get rid of Kreider. This is the highest his value is ever going to be. That's the only way I see Kadri working cap wise.

This isn't a knock against Kreider before anyone gets mad at me.

Why would we make a trade for a center when there's a few out there just as good we could sign without giving up assets?

well unless we get a haul for Kreider trading him just to get rid of his cap then signing a 32 year old to a 7.5-8 million dollar deal is not that smart IMO.

Reactions: Pawnee Rangers
Kadri's agent is either pumping the Rangers heavily to drum up offers from a rival or there's an off chance he would want to play here and make it work on a shorter term/lower AAV deal.

Otherwise, it makes zero sense for this team.
If he's going to make it work for a team with a sweetheart deal, I would imagine that team would be Colorado.

If there's anyone pumping the story, I think it's the Rangers so the teams of their potential trade targets take notice. Here's hoping they don't have access to the Rangers CapFriendly page.

Man, this is the year to go super cheap on a couple of depth, decent potential players. Milano, Aube-Kubel, Balcers, Lindblom. This is on top of guys like Motte, Raffl, Rask, Namestnikov, Janmark, Jarnkrok, Larsson.

This doesn't even bring up guys like:
Domi, D Strome, R Strome, Copp, Stastny, Malkin, Rodriguez, Hinostrozza, Donato

As an aside, it's a surprise for me that Hornqvist isn't being bought out, although maybe they could wait until the 2nd window?

I dunno, I know Kadri walks a very fine line, but I could see him making a huge impact for us. He's the kind of player you hate until he's on your team. If the terms were resonable, I'd be all for it.
Love that Kadri walks a fine line. No issues with him stepping over the line every now and again.

If we have issues fitting Copp or Strome, we are never gonna fit Kadri's ask
I think a big part of why he walked a fine line was that he thought he had to be the tough guy of the team. It was the case with the Leafs, was the case with the Avs at first. When the Avs got MacDermid, just needed to focus on his own game and it all worked out. The Rangers would have Reaves and Trouba there.

Still can't see any way of signing Kadri unless Chris gets creative.
