Nemeth can't be bought out if the Rangers had a 2nd buyout window.

11.18 Ordinary Course Buy-Outs Outside the Regular Period. Clubs shall have the right to exercise Ordinary Course Buy-Outs outside the regular period for Ordinary Course Buy-Outs in accordance with Paragraph 13(c)(ii) of the SPC. Each Club shall be limited to no more than three (3) such Buy-Outs outside the regular period over the term of this Agreement pursuant to Paragraph 13 of the SPC. However, in the event that a Club has only one salary arbitration hearing pursuant to Section 12.3(a) in a given League Year, such Club shall not be entitled to exercise such an Ordinary Course Buy-Out outside the regular period. Moreover, a Club shall not be entitled to exercise an Ordinary Course Buy-Out outside the regular period for: (i) any Player who was not on the Club's Reserve List as of the most recent Trade Deadline, or (ii) any Player with an Averaged Amount less than $2,750,000. The dollar amount of $2,750,000 set forth in this Section 11.18 shall be increased on an annual basis at the same percentage rate of annual increase as the Average League Salary, with the first such increase occurring based upon a comparison of the 2014/15 Average League Salary to the 2013/14 Average League Salary. By way of example, if the Average League Salary for the 2014/15 League Year has increased by ten (10) percent from the Average League Salary for the 2013/14 League Year, then the figure of $2,750,000 stated in Section 11.18, shall be increased by ten (10) percent to $3,025,000.

This is from the 2013 CBA. Nothing changed in the new CBA except for the Averaged Amount.

Nemeth has a $2.5M AAV.

Brooksie writing about a sign and trade for Kadri, sell Kakko to eat 50% of the contract based on reliable sources. In what world…

I wonder if the Rangers could find a team looking for a veteran defenseman while eating a portion of his salary. It will be interested to see what a couple of the veteran d-men get this off-season like Cole. Perhaps a team like Arizona would take him at $2m cap hit without needing to be paid to do so.

No buyout for Nemeth is good in my opinion. The Rangers do have a spot for him, as the 7th D.

Stop buying players out. No more dead space. I can't confirm, but I am certain that some of the reasons the old front office was fired was because of the constant buyouts, dead cap and player trouble leaks.

Not buying him out and not being able to trade him would be catastrophic.

So you think it's ok to pay a 7th Dman 2.5 mil? I don't.

Chicago signs Kadri 7.5 x 6 years

Chicago gets:
Libor Hajek
NYR 2023 2nd round pick
50% of Patrick Kane's contract
50% of Nazem Kadri's contract

Arizona gets:
Julien Gauthier
Patrik Nemeth
Rights to Mikhail Pashnin
25% of Patrick Kane's contract
25% of Nazem Kadri's contract

Rangers get:
Patrick Kane at 25%
Nazem Kadri at 25%
CHI 2023 3rd round pick

Fair? Thoughts?

Too bad they didn't qualify Wall or I would have included him too. Poor asset management.

Rangers get ripped off.

How old is Larry Brooks? He has been around forever. The guy went to Rangers games in the 1950's. He started covering The NHL for the Post in the mid-1970's. He reminds me of my senile old uncle. He knows everything. It's a new and different option every day. My aunt tells us to ignore him because he is losing his mind.
The guys on my favorite 1978-79-80 teams hated him back in the day.

If that's the case, the trade needs to happen now. When does the buyout period officially end? @5pm? or is it 11:59pm?

Mitigate risk, either trade him now ( assuming for Kane ) or buy him out.

Take Pashnin out and I do it

Drury isn’t stupid. They were up 2-0 against Tampa. They got nothing from their second line. Most of that had to do with Strome being crippled. However, if you want to win in this league, you need depth, sure, but you need a strong blueline and a solid 1-2 punch down the middle. Their 5v5 numbers were not great. They need a star C that can drive play with Panarin. The East is wide open, and quite frankly, if the Rangers add a horse down the middle, they are the favorites in the East, in my opinion.

I think paying money to ANOTHER player that's not on your team is an even bigger problem.
We have very little dead cap space and that goes to zero next year. Either way he is not going to be playing for the Rangers so might as well save some money. He can also be traded or sent down.
