I even prefer doing nothing at all and having Chytil and Goodrow as 2 and 3 C over tossing huge assets for one run.

We won’t have to take that option, we should get depth nonetheless, but Miller would be a mistake. If the team is spanking at the deadline we can get a high level rental then for less assets. I don’t think we will be struggling to make the playoffs.

If we struggle to make the playoffs without acquiring a center, then something has gone terribly wrong. Shesty, Fox, Zib, Kreider, Panarin + Laf, Miller, Kakko is one of the better cores in the league. It's their job to get us into the playoffs.

Chris Drury is not coughing up a haul for Miller. He will get him on his terms. And yes, Copp as your 2C, I am afraid, is not winning you a Stanley Cup. All-around, star C's do. Miller is one now. The nightmares and flashbacks of the inconsistent NYR from days he was 25 have people shook on here. He isn't that player anymore. Zibanejad-Miller down the middle is Cup-caliber. Avs with The Dogg and Kadri, Pens' runs with Crosby and Malkin, Caps' runs with Backstrom and Kuz, Tampa with Point and Stammer. You need a legitimate 2C that is good enough to be your 1C. I like Copp, but just because you traded for him at the deadline doesn't mean you now have to commit big money to him because you coughed up 30OA and Barron. Stop.

I loathe the idea of dealing for JT Miller solely because we dealt him away for peanuts and it'll cost a fair chunk to get him back. Terrible asset management. Nil interest.
People have to get off this seriously. The guy they traded was not this player. Hell, Yzerman even dealt him!!! The great Stevie Y didn't see this coming!? So because the Rangers had him once, they can't get him back. These reasons are stupid.

Last year the following players were traded on the two draft days:
Seth Jones
Oliver Ekman-Larsson
Conor Garland
Pavel Buchnevich
Rasmus Ristolainen
Sam Reinhart
Jakub Voracek
Cam Atkinson
There are deals, yes. The only firecracker out of those is the Jones deal. I expect moar, moar, moar

So what is your solution? All in for next year? Cause we ain't affording Miller beyond that. Unless you suggest we don't offer Laf/KAM new contracts? And it's not true that you need a star 2C to win the cup. Look at at the Hawks or St. Louis. Depth is what you need. We have enough Star players.

I will say there isn't a 0% chance they would re-sign Miller. It COULD work if they know they could find a home for Trouba or Kreider and they know they will agree to waive their NMC's for a specific destination (say Trouba with Detroit or Kreider with the Bruins). In saying that, they would then be signing a 31 year old Miller to a LONG Term deal. Which would be asinine...

He produced in the playoffs once in Vancouver after his breakout.

I'm against bringing him in and call it a gut feeling more than anything else, but that doesn't seem like a fair analysis.
That's fair. Perhaps I am skeptical of his production in that bubble playoffs cause the team remained similar over the next 2 years and they were pond hockey garbage. I wonder what happened between then and now.

Post your source.

Just trust Kocur26, he knows his stuff!

Miller is going to make this team that much more dangerous, at even strength at 5v5 and in the postseason. You get him and reassess as time goes on what to do. Not everything has to be done and planned 3-4 years in advance. You can have another shutdown or the cap is ****** up again. In the current world we are in, planning a week from today is even a stretch in some aspects. I’m sure Drury has a plan. The team came within two wins of a Cup final appearance and looked damn near impressive after that Pens series.

There is always the chance that the Rangers are making noise intentionally to try to get Copp to panic.
Copp is going to have no shortage of suitors though, so why would he feel the need to panic? Teams will covet him.

unless its a total head fake looks like JT is coming...hope its not filip

it's a head fake. Remember when we were in hot on Hertl, Eichel, Miller, and now we're doing Miller again. We were also interested in OEL. Last summer was the end of the rebuild and every gutter swimming evolutionary off branch of the African Asslicking Toad surfaces to link the Rangers to everything that moves.

I think the interest in all those guys has been legitimate, but Drury has shown hes not going to pay the exorbitant asking price for them. So far, at least.
