this would be out of character for the yotes unless nyr is sending back a quality asset bc nemeth's real dollars is greater than his aav. that is the opposite of what the yotes do, unless they are sending nyr a low cap hit that is higher actual dollars in return, and the only guy that makes any sense is nick ritchie with his 2.5aav and 3.3 salary

They need all of the help they can get on that back end. Hamilton is not the answer and as much as their fans don't want to hear it, Luke Hughes wont be the answer either.

That doesn't track for me unless there's a player who 100% would be picked at #2 that they wanted.

They get to pick the Center they want at #2 and can turn #3 into two good, young NHL ready assets ( Kakko, Lundkvist )

The team still has to sell tickets/merch and compete. Not saying it's likely but I see the logic behind the theoretical move

If you want a top 3 pick and to draft one of wright or cooley this is what your cost is going to be on the extreme light end.

schmaltz has his salary bumping up above his aav and could be a rw option if you sign stastny for the 3c spot. ritchie is another salary higher than cap hit piece.
