I just don't see any team trading for Kakko unless they are able to talk to him first and work out an extension.

Did the Rangers offer him a contract yet?

Did they make a qualifying offer yet? They are due July 11th.

The timeline of trading him for this draft does not make much sense unless the Rangers are giving permission to other teams to talk with him.

35+ contracts are less of a concern since the MOU. As long as the contract isn't front-loaded, it won't count as a 35+ contract.

I'd give up Kakko, Nils ++ for Cooley or Wright ( pick #2 or #3 )

This would be incredibly foolish. Who says that Cooley or Wright will end up being any better than Kakko? That's a huge risk for a player who is unlikely to be able to help us immediately.

Oettinger's performance in the playoffs was absurd. By far the best goalie performance I have ever witnessed.

He's Dallas' best player. He reminds me of Igor but at 6'5

Cause according to you he is there because his best buddy is about to be drafted. Why would he not sit with his best friend on the day of the draft? Literally was his first draft pick after the organization said they need more grit and toughness, and he plays that exact type of game. He's not going anywhere.

He was waived last year and went unclaimed. Presumably there was some amount of retention/salary coming back to offset it.
