We are told the Blackhawks are willing to take on bad contracts accompanied by assets and that Anaheim as well seems amenable to doing the same on a shorter-term basis.

The perpetual ne’er-do-well Coyotes are always open for that type of business.

The only thing that makes sense about Wright or Cooley is that it potentially gives us a long-term 2C on the cheap for quite awhile while we figure out the rest of our cap situation over the next few seasons.

OKAY IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE!

I dont get the hate Wright is getting. He's the exact type of Center you win with.

I'd take the Bergeron and RO'Rs of the NHL... ALL DAY

Pronman has him dropping to 4th in his mock draft... I'd be all over that tbh.

Nemeth had a bad season but I don't think he's as bad as he showed last year. A team like Arizona who will have issues attracting UFA's could probably play him in a depth role for this year and next, rebuild his value and sell him at next years deadline for a mid-round pick. They would also probably get a late pick for taking Nemeth now from the Rangers. The question becomes, are they willing to take on the actual cash.

Something I've thought about was a Nemeth for Ritchie deal. Ritchie is owed $3.3m in his 2nd year in actual cash. $2.5m cap hit.

Are either of Wright/Cooley actually slated to play in the NHL this year? Or would that type of move simply be kicking the 2C can down the road?

if you think this is bad try being a soccer fan during transfer season. Makes Eklund look like Walter Cronkite
Nothing is worse than the geeks that cover baseball that act like they are the knights of Camelot protecting the Holy Grail of Cooperstown.

They all should have to go into a dark cave with a rabid wolverine string out on angel dust

Zero chance Othmann is moved. Othmann is Drury's guy. It will be the past administrations picks that get moved out.

Malkin wont grow on me, unless he looks motivated and like 2008-2009 Malkin
Othmann isn’t “Drury’s guy”

He wasn’t as involved in the draft process last season. He had Gorton&JD’s crew running the draft

Case in point. He's at this draft with the team. If he was planned on being part of any package, I doubt they would have him attend and sit with them at the draft.

Should have also had Lafreniere there too since he didn't get the experience of the draft. Schneider too.
