The Rangers could always give Andersson a 9 game look. If he plays a minimum 10 NHL games, the year counts. They could send him back to Sweden and not lose the year off the ELC. 19 year old slide. Andersson is better off playing in Sweden. The Rangers shouldn't rush him because they have a hole in the middle. Have a good year playing for HV71 or Frolunda and in the WJC in Buffalo. 18-19 Rangers.

I'm on board with this.

The second one. McDonagh is much closer to be a franchise D than MacKinnon is a franchise C (or ever will be).

Which team is better?

Kreider Zibanejad Zuccarello
Nash MacKinnon Buchnevich
Miller Hayes Vesey
Grabner Desharnais Fast

Skjei Smith
Staal Shattenkirk
Holden DeAngelo
Beargloves

OR

Kreider Zibanejad Buchnevich
Nash Hayes Zucarello
Vesey Miller Fast
Grabber Desharnais Nieves

McDonagh Shattenkirk
Skjei Smith
Staal DeAngelo
Holden

There's no harm in having him play 9 games. It's good for his development. Let him get some games in with the team and then either have him finish the season in Hartford, or send him to Frolunda to compete in the SHL and CHL

And what do you do if he plays well in those 9 games? Keep him? And if his play starts to tail off at the 30-40 game mark? He played 58 games last year.

It's an interesting conversation though when you think about it.

Look at Gabriel Landeskog and Ryan O'Reilly. Two guys who I think he resembles a little bit, oddly, both drafted by Colorado. Both played at 18 years old. Both players played in the OHL the year before they were drafted. Both guys have that inner quiet intensity that Andersson seems to exude. Neither guy absolutely dominated the year before their draft year. They hovered around a ppg or just above. Would Andersson have put up a ppg or more if he had played in the OHL last year? Probably.

Incorrect.

58 SHL games, but also 3 on their Jr team and then 17 internationally. Thats 78.

If he shows that hes ready, I don't see the problem with it and how that would be "rushing" him (not directed at you.)

Stalberg went overseas as well. Makes you wonder if the majority of the guys left aren't considering it as well. Winnik?

Read AV sees miller in the wing . That's nice but then they have to trade for a C since DD us best 4th line and fill in top 3 in case of injury

Winnik is more a 4th line wing. They do have a spot right now Unless a kid surprises in camp

Kreider , Zib , Zuc
Buch , miller , Nash
Grabner , Hayes, vesey
X, dd, fast / puempel

Ranger boy mentioned Staal has a bonus paid out soon so would be nice if they have a deal in place to move him out .

Take lupul contract w bozak for Staal at 50?

Its remotely similar. Every team has a private plane, every team has the meals, the training staff, all that good stuff. Its the allure of NYC that makes it sound great. Just remember some Rangers take the Subway to games.

Yup and my Honda Accord is just as nice as that Mercedes S550.

They both have leather seats, A/C, navigation screens, etc...

I mean, it's basically the same thing, right?

Why would Toronto do that?

Can we make a rule from now on that before you post a trade, you have to actually think about it and type your reasoning out as to why the other team in the deal makes that trade?

7/11/17 | 5:53PM: Alain Vigneault told Larry Brooks that Miller's versatility and ability to play center is "very important" but that he doesn't see Miller starting the season in the middle. (NY Post)
Vigneault said that Miller was scouted as a center and that management likes his potential in the middle and said "I think that J.T. has a lot to offer us in different ways."
*(NY Post)

Trade has to be coming then.. I don't care how good your blue line is, you're not getting outta the 1st round with Zibanejad, Hayes, Desharnias and god knows whelse down the middle.

no trade
screw AV
want's to be all his way or highway, ef him
Miller ALREADY can cut it offensively
def is acceptable, but if some disagree fine
stabilizing lines AV constantly changing linemates will help w/def adjustments

Seems to be some disagreement between AV and FO
guess who wins that one?

I think Spooner or Stastny would be alright, depending on the cost of course.
I'd stay clear of the others.
no spoon
would only consider Stastny if it is swap for Nash and they kick in for better playa
AND
we still move Stastny at TDL as rental

I would be ok with bringing in Stastny. Idk but I can see St.Louis taking a step back.
methinks they have had buyer's remorse for some time.
but you are prob right, they won't just unload him w/out someone who makes signif. contribution now involved

Why would Colorado take 2 years of McDonagh as opposed to multiple years of MacKinnon?

You know damn well that McDonagh is not resigning in Colorado.

they would not, that is why for the remaining of 6 yrs on his deal [5?]
MacK would cost someone who is elc
we could try to make that McD + Buch
but I think they hold out for Skjei +

fine, McD has to go somewhere as long as we get paid nicely

McD+ Skjei 3 NY 5ths
for
MacKinnon 3 Colorado 2nds which is signif pick upgrade

we still have starting LD
Smith
Beargloves
Graves

and it is early...

1. Draft a player at 7 with questionable offensive upside.
2. Rush him to the NHL where the only way he will stay in the lineup as 3c is minimizing mistakes.
3, Either he will be scratched by AV for 40 games or he won't have the freedom to push the pace offensively in a critical developmental season.

Yea that's a horrendous plan.

Could be Manny Malhotra all over again.

I remember when Mucks said he'd be a great 3rd liner back when these boards were drop down threads... people here flipped... but Mucks was right.

I think Lias's skating ability alone will be enough for a top 9 guy... question is... that is he a 15-15 guy... or a 20-30 guy.

IMO they took Alex Steen with the pick... but that upside may not show up for another 2-4 years. Which is completely normal.

But he's physically mature enough for the pro game... and that's something that you can't overlook when it comes to a guy being ready.

Long story short... he'll fall between Haula and Steen in terms of productivity in the next little while.

my concern with giving anderson 9 games is that it only happens if we don't find another center and playing him just because we don't have another option is a bad idea. and if we don't have another option what makes anyone think that he'd be sent back after 9 games?

obviously we could make a trade after the season starts, but my fear is that unless he is completely overwhelmed they would keep him simply due to the lack of options.

I'm with you on this one. He played in a very tough league last year, if he is up for the challenge of the NHL and PROVES it during training camp and the first 9 games, give him a shot. I don't think that's rushing him at all.

its possible if you are talking about a trade with a team like arizona that doesn't want to actually pay players. but i highly doubt that toronto cares about paying a $1 mil signing bonus that they need to wait to make the move. much more likely that they just aren't stupid and want no part of staal.

Yeah. Big difference between Toronto and Ottawa (in the case of Brassard's SB last off-season).

So what exactly does our defense look like?

Smith Shattenkirk
Beargloves DeAngelo
Graves Holden

That would probably be the worst defense in the NHL. Bar-none. We aren't trading McDonagh OR Skjei, forget about trading the both of them in the same trade.

Don't bring logic to the fantasy table.

Really just waiting for July 15th to pass at this point--player signing bonuses will be paid out around that date

What is the point of these picks? The draft is a crapshoot after the 1st round. Either way it's 3 picks outside the 1st.
