There's risk associated with Jagr. He could stop being capable of number like that really any second.
Not sure how that's risky given it's a one year deal at most and at this point most teams have the excess cap space

There's more to risk than just asset risk.
That's a good point but I just can't ignore the contracts Tampa has given out recently. Hedman, Stamkos, Kucherov, Johnson, Stralman (not sure he should count). Idk maybe someone wants to do the math on Hedman with a $9M contract in a different state. I definitely don't.Why can't Tampa contracts be used as benchmarks? Because of the tax reason?
Games played away get taxed differently, so only half of the contract gets the tax benefit.
The Rangers organization is known to have some of the best, if not the best, treatment of players, amenities, and benefits of anywhere in the NHL. The players get that huge boon.
Also, players and their contracts can be traded. Once you are traded you don't get the tax benefit of the place you originally signed the contract.
The tax argument is overblown. Tyler Johnson contract in Tampa freakin' Bay can certainly be a barometer.
7/11/17 | 5:53PM: Alain Vigneault told Larry Brooks that Miller's versatility and ability to play center is "very important" but that he doesn't see Miller starting the season in the middle. (NY Post)
Vigneault said that Miller was scouted as a center and that management likes his potential in the middle and said "I think that J.T. has a lot to offer us in different ways ."*(NY Post)
Trade has to be coming then.. I don't care how good your blue line is, you're not getting outta the 1st round with Zibanejad, Hayes, Desharnias and god knows whelse down the middle.
I don't know, I remember watching the Flyers/Rangers on 24/7 and thinking to myself "I'm so glad our team is this awesome".Where does this concept of the Rangers having the best benefits, treatment of players, etc etc come from?
Not that im doubting the truth of it, but i always hear that from players or former players when playing to the New York media... Do you really think a player is ever going to crap on a franchise and the normal people that work for them? Most of these testimonies are from people who are still relying on that franchise directly or indirectly for money, they're drinking the coolaid/part of the system.
This is a major professional sport in North America, I highly doubt theres any amenity one team has that other teams do not.

Staal is owed a bonus in the near future. See if Florida is willing to swap contracts.
They obviously have their eye on someone.
I wonder if they're expecting Andersson to grab the 3C spot. It's important to have players contribute on ELCs, but it's more important to develop your players the right way.
Still definitely also believe that AV sees a lot more for DD than 4C.
The problem with RNH is the Rangers just traded an "underperforming" center who makes 6M because of the amount of cap space he took up (and yeah the upcoming NMC also factored into it).

I think if this is the plan, it is a fairly new plan...
If this is the plan, It means they were considering moves and Andersson looked good enough in the prospect camp to believe he'll compete well enough to earn NHL time.

Oh I would beg to differ. I would seriously beg to differ.
Stepan wasn't great by any means, but you could consistently pencil him in for 50+ points a season and usually good defense to play against the other centers, someone who can PK, etc, pretty much play in all situations. until proven other wise, we don't have one center on the roster that can claim they can do that.
This blue line better be freaking insanely good.
