They could, but they signed Goodrow for a reason. Leadership. They aren’t going to move hIm out now.Why not?
I, on the other hand, like you.Snubbed once again, unfortunately.
I understand but if you can better the 2nd line don't you do that before worrying about the 4th line? I don't think leadership is a big issue. We need more speed, physicality, and faceoff wins imo. Leadership seems good. They could, but they signed Goodrow for a reason. Leadership. They aren’t going to move hIm out now.

What's an overpayment though? That's a matter of opinion. All season long people complained about the 4th line. It would be nice to have a good 4th line since Gallant usually plays them a lot.In this particular situation there really is no room to overpay a fourth liner. It’s too tight.
Kravtsov is going to be on the team unless he completely flames out in camp. I do not see that happening, so he'll be on the 3rd line if I'd have to guess.Kreider Zib Laf
Panarin PLD Kakko
Motte Goodrow Copp
Cuylle Rydahl Blais
Tennessee is also a no income tax state.I wonder why McDonagh was willing to waive from a no tax state on a Cup contender to go to Nashville, I’ve heard it’s impossible to get veterans to waive.
If Copp and Motte came in cheaper than expected somehow, and Reaves/Nemeth/Chytil contracts also moved out, I think it is possible to fitKravtsov is going to be on the team unless he completely flames out in camp. I do not see that happening, so he'll be on the 3rd line if I'd have to guess.
The team also cannot fit under the cap. Just not possible, unless you're moving Nemeth and Lindgren with no cap coming back.
Crazy enough, but this is the rumor about the situation. It was either trade to Nashville or waived and claimed by Columbus.I wonder why McDonagh was willing to waive from a no tax state on a Cup contender to go to Nashville, I’ve heard it’s impossible to get veterans to waive.
You sure those “hits” aren’t from Sutter forcing Gaudreau to weakly follow up on checks? What is a Johnny Gaudreau hit going to do to anyone? Tickle them? He's a changed player. He had 10x as many hits as he did in 2019-20.
Thats a myth. Many guys don't want to be where they are not wanted.
Maybe we could move Goodrow or Nemeth to clear some salary for PLD?
Also just saying, Goodrow and Kakko both paced for 34 points this season.
Goodrow got more defensive starts, can play C, killed penalties, blocked shots, actually played with aggression and a bit of physicality, got virtually no top 6 time or PP time, and brought leadership+Stanley Cup winning experience to a young team that sorely needed it
Kakko played half his games in the top 6 on a line with Mika Zibanejad or Artemi Panarin, got some PP time, and didn’t do anything else. Didn’t improve in any regard, not even his English improved
I agree and I don’t really think it’s impossible to move Trouba or Kreider if we wanted to.

They're within their rights to waive him, but not within their rights to explain to him what his alternative is?I don't know for sure but I would have to imagine if the scenario occurred as described the NHLPA would be able to file a grievance with the league and fight that. Obviously, waiving him is fine as he doesn't have a NMC but it doesn't seem right to me that they're able to use it as a threat.
It does seem strange. I wonder if there are somethings that got lost in translation. It is possible they said Columbus was interested, worked on a deal, and he said no. So in order to bypass that, they'd just waive him and then make their deal with Columbus getting "future considerations" after he gets claimed.I don't know for sure but I would have to imagine if the scenario occurred as described the NHLPA would be able to file a grievance with the league and fight that.
