That's a fair pointits the reason players want a NMC with that full NTC. Because it prevents that action.

Would love this.Miles Wood will be interesting. If he was healthy this season he could’ve returned a 1st++ at the TDL. One of the fastest players in the league and plays with an edge. He’s from Buffalo and played for NJD so kind of local guy as well
17 goals in 55 games last season. Only played 3 this season
If he will be an ufa. Wood would be a low risk move that Drury should consider. Good player when healthy and young hits agitate and can skate. Good on the PKWould love this.
I think it has become clear that they will not be re-signing him prior to free agency. Cap space is very tight around the league. There are other competitive good middle 6 players out there. Copp wants to capitalize on his career year. Rangers will re-visit with him in the days after free agency opens (if he is still around) and the main guys who are willing to take decent deals eat up most of the available money out there. It seems like everyone has accepted that the rangers are not gonna resign copp and will trade more assets for another center. Am I the only one that thinks this has been horrible asset management.
Other teams seem to have been able to acquire players that have term and sign for very manageable $$.
I get the rangers went to the eastern conference finals , but if they wanna keep being competitive we can’t keep throwing assets away like this.
I believe, from what I’ve heard here and there, he’s still quite popular in NJ. I imagine they bring him back. But I would definitely advocate bringing him in.If he will be an ufa. This is my read on it too. They were maybe saying they have intelligence telling them Columbus was interested. Or even, just, ‘let’s see who has waivers priority…oh, Columbus. I remember they called us a whole mess o’times asking us to trade you there…’Yeah, if there is an agreement with Columbus about waivers, then that crosses a line. I missed Kypreos mention that "commitment". I do doubt that happened though. It wouldn't need to. McDonagh is a smart guy. If Columbus is willing to give up a third rounder to take him on (or whatever it was), I'm sure they would be willing to spend the waiver fee to do so. His agent can tell him the waiver order. He can definitely identify the option that gives him the least control.
Exactly, it wasn't like they were like hey Columbus do us a solid and promise McDonagh you'll drag his ass there if given the opportunityThis is my read on it too. Again, it’s all semantics. But I agree, I doubt there was some official commitment from Columbus to do anything.
Board combined separate posts.Goodrow doesn’t want to be here?
Tennessee also no tax state

I think it was Staple's podcast. He said the Rangers were more aggressive at the trade deadline because they had so much space available to them and the team was having a good season. This opportunity would not be available again because the Rangers will be in a cap crunch until the salary cap increases. It seems like everyone has accepted that the rangers are not gonna resign copp and will trade more assets for another center. Its just like having to move McDonough. Its not dictated by hockey. Its dictated by salary cap accounting. Makes GMs have to be accountants instead of hockey guys. Really changes teams for the worse. Wish they would change the cap rules a bit. Still we took a chance on Copp. Only became a first based on our own playoff success. It seems like everyone has accepted that the rangers are not gonna resign copp and will trade more assets for another center. Yes to both please and thank you.The Rangers have big plans for Othmann. He was also Drury's first pick. He was projected as a Chris Kunitz type aka a productive sidekick you can play with the stars.
Him and Kravtsov are going to get auditions for the Vatrano role.
Vegas has still been super quiet. No cap room and Roy, Kolesar, and even Patrick with the former two needing new contracts. Roy/Kolesar could really help the Rangers.
Roy and Kolesar to NYR for Robertson Gauthier (throw in) and 2ed in 2023?Yes to both please and thank you.
Players evolve, and he even said that getting traded again after Tampa woke him up. I see comments like these and it makes me wonder if 3/4 of this board has even seen him lace up a pair of skates since Tampa dumped him. The guy is 100% a star now. He always had the talent. Young and naive is what you could chalk his early career up to.I just don't trust JT Miller.
He's only been good for Vancouver. I have serious reservations that he just woke up one day and became a good player at 26 and he's going to be able to replicate those results anywhere.
Granted, he plays 20 minutes per game in Vancouver and we played him *checks notes* ...not 20 minutes.
I'd be OK with that. Find a cheap veteran backup. Enough prospects to part with. Pulijarvi would benefit from a change of scenery; top 5 pick whose career hasn't turned out how most expected; gets away from that top 5 pick shadow.Georgiev + mid-level prospect
Rangers didn’t give up **** for Copp. People continue to pump this out there. They held all their prospects. Barron is never going to amount to anything. Another Gauthier-like softie with size, not the fastest skater, without anything impressive in his toolbox. Yes, he wins face offs. Copp was a monster with Panarin and Strome and showed how valuable he is with skill guys and on the PK. However, if he’s looking for $6Mx5 or something, you’d be comfortable paying that just because they traded for him at the deadline? Miller is making $5.25M. The Rangers can think improve the roster even more this summer by signing a Motte and adding a backup after they return Kakko. And the one thing we have found out about Drury in terms of shopping for his guy is he has a set price. He isn’t giving Schneider or Othmann for a year of Miller or else he would’ve done it this year. And for those that usually are out cold at 10pm on weeknights, myself included, yes, JT Miller is a MUCH better player than Copp.It seems like everyone has accepted that the rangers are not gonna resign copp and will trade more assets for another center. I agree with this to an extent. I don’t think I’m ready to say he’s a failed pick, but anyone saying the results haven’t been disappointing is lying to themselves. So many excuses for Kakko. So many varying explanations for why he hasn’t produced.
Why not just keep it simple and agree that he’s just not been good? It’s comforting to put most of the blame on external factors. It’s hard to admit that maybe the player just isn’t very good.
It’s not like 2OA draft picks haven’t completely failed before. It’s nice to think that you’re getting a can’t miss superstar there but it’s not a guarantee. Especially when you’re rooting for this team, for which everything must be maximally difficult at all times.
Name them. There is also a difference in signing a 1st or 2nd line guy and a bottom guy. Did you look at the assets that were given up by other teams for rentals? Paul was just signed to a 7 year 3.2 mil per contract. He's a 3/4 liner. Good players who are UFA's are going to get their money and term in most cases. Maybe Rangers don't think Copp is the answer at 2c, especially for over 5 mil. He was very good for them though mostly on the wing.It seems like everyone has accepted that the rangers are not gonna resign copp and will trade more assets for another center. Am I the only one that thinks this has been horrible asset management.
