Stand pat or go for it? The dilemma is real, isn't it? There are arguments, damn good ones, to be made on each side. The danger of standing pat is real. The danger of going for it is real.

I've come to terms with either direction Drury might make.

Let me relate a story. As I mention often, and I am sure many are tired of hearing it, I am in my early-mid 70s, with Ranger memories far back into the distant prehistoric past. When I was young (think twenties), I joked that it was likely that I would never see the Rangers win a Cup. In 1991, I was camping with my family in Terra Nova National Park in Newfoundland. We became friendly with a family from St. John's N.L. Naturally, we talked a lot of hockey. I remember telling them that when I joked, in my twenties, about going through my whole life w/o seeing the Rangers win a Cup, it was a joke. But now that I was in my 40s, it was not a joke any longer.

I'm sure many here feel the same way. Luckily, I had 1994 and for sure, that "memory will last a lifetime." But that was 28 years ago and I'm sure many fans now feel like I felt in 1991. And certainly, I want to see another. My two sons are both hardcore Ranger fans. In 1994, one was 13 and other 11 (his birthday was actually on the day they won the Cup). They certainly remember it, but they were kids and want to have an adult memory of their own now.

So, I perfectly understand those who want to go for it. BTW, both of my sons would rather not trade Chytil or KK.

But, I do understand the dilemma. No one ever said it is easy being a fanatic Ranger fan (or Met fan, or Jet fan, or now, a Giants fan, or a Knick fan).

So, I get it. If nothing else, this off season will be fascinating.
Excellent post.

Kravstov tucked his tail and ran home twice because someone said something that hurt his feelings. Talk about being mentally weak.

If he was so good and SO confident in himself and his abilities, why didn't he say "I'll just stay here and show you"? How come his response and reaction twice was "Waaaah I'm going home to see mommy and daddy!"? If the goal is to play in North America/the NHL, why has he continually done things to actively remove himself from NA? Maybe he's a decent player, but not much between the ears apparently. His support circle hasn't seemed to care much about him cultivating a career in NA either, despite that being the apparent goal.
I mean, I love you Eddy Jo, but let’s not underestimate what the kid line did in limited mins, no PP, but pump Kravtsov up as an alpha male lol

The answer to 8 out of 10 questions is money. Dolan made 50 million easy with tv and gate concessions etc cash this playoff...he see's gold in this Ranger roster...and why not...they are going for it and I don't blame him....there is no 10 yr plan with Dolan.

Excellent post.
@alkurtz Giants win a SuperBowl every decade since the 1980s. 3/4 of them they lucked out on. I'm a Giants fan but let's be real. Norwood makes a kick, Tyree doesn't make a once in a lifetime catch, and SB 46 between the Edelman drop and Gronk doesn't have one ankle and catches the Hail Mary from Brady.

Once again I'm a Giants fan but Giants fans have almost become as bad as the entitled sub-genre of Yankees fans.

Rangers have a little luck in 1950, 1972, 1979, 1981, 1986, 1990, 1997, 2012, 2014, 2015 and they have one to three more Cups.

We’ve mentioned other guys who may be bought out but another one is be interested in is Tyler Johnson on a 1-2 year deal.

Zucker
Hornqvist
Vlasic
Kassian

There will probably be others who are surprises just based on the cap crunches around the league. The Rangers should be able to snag a couple of pretty solid bottom-6 or bottom pairing players for minimal cap hits

He exercised a mutually agreed upon European out clause, maybe Drury doesn't have much in between his ears for signing that and then thinking he can send down their best prospect and he'll just put up with it instead of stand up for himself lol. This is all part of a performance art though and Kravtsov has already planned out his entire career, we're in Act II: The Redemption Arc now... more to come in my book
It was still a whiny bitch move. Don’t talk about him being mentally tough with that on his resume.

It will all make sense when it's all said & done, you can't take one small sample of something Kravtsov did to draw conclusions. Everything is a piece in the puzzle of is Machiavellian scheme, the world won't fully comprehend it for thousands of years Post-Kravtsov.

But I was referring to being an alpha or beta on the ice, Kravtsov pushes the pace himself and is confident in his skill, he'll try flashy moves, take risks, doesn't mind being the center of attention. Kakko is timid and wants to be a passenger.

If they trade Chytil+Lundkvist in a package for Miller, where is that such a sacrilegious move that’ll have Drury roasting on a skewer? He went out and got Copp—got them to within TWO wins of a Final with our core and goalie. If you go get Miller, you increase those odds for next year, in my opinion. Rental? Again, assess after next season. He knows he has to sign Laf and Miller. We watch this trophy hoisted every year, it’s never us. Never. 1994, before that, 1940. Should we stand Pat with the best goalie in hockey at $5.6M or try to acquire a stud C to center our $11.6M star? Come on, the answer is clear. Chytil and Lundkvist are replaceable, the doubts and regrets in three years of not going for it will haunt many.
Agree but Drury should have traded for Miller instead of Copp. Wasted assets, he better get some retention from Van so we can load up for the next 2 years.

Id personally wanna find a young center thats on entry level deal, lets just say we got someone like Lavoie or preferably Hayton. If they aren't immediately ready just place Chytil or Goodrow in their spot til they are. If we get PLD, he's as good as gone the following deadline because it sounds like he's going to MTL as a ufa. Id prefer to get someone who fits with the actual core of this team age and contract wise. Does Lundkvist plus a bit get you Hayton, a center familiar with Lafreniere? That would be my ideal scenario but in typical Ranger form we'll go big game hunting instead.

But if the rumored offer he sent Vancouver of Chytil+Lundkvist+1st, I can’t really fault him. That’s a solid package. Vancouver has been playing this bs game with Miller for a year now. Sign him or deal him. Drury didn’t give up anything for Copp despite what some might say. 30th OA and Barron? And a second? It was worth it to come that close.

I would want to verify his desire to go to Le Habs...Columbus then Winnipeg not exactly hopping. NYC is a different animal.

He had an option and he exercised it. Is it his fault that Hartford is a tire fire? The KHL was better for his development and Drury was starting to look like a bad partner.

“NHL’s first buyout window runs from July 1 to 5 p.m. on July 12. Players have to clear unconditional waivers before they can be bought out, so they may begin to show up on waivers as early as June 30th. If a player has a full no move clause in their contract, they can elect to skip the waiver process and proceed directly to the buyout.”

We avoid contact. I'm talking about Panarin being ragdolled.

We have Ryan Reaves. No matter how much people shit on him he's nearly the entire reason we weren't 'bullied'.
When was Panarin ragdolled? Are you still stuck in 2021 or something?
