The reason we never hoist the trophy is because we keep doing what you are saying we should do.
That’s absolutely not the reason. The Lundqvist years they were trading for older veterans that weren’t anywhere near what they were in their primes. Those teams never had Panarin, this version of Kreider, Zibanejad, Fox, etc. It’s not even comparable. And they didn’t have the farm system.

You can't play hockey with the mindset of avoiding contact. That's what I mean by soft. We have a major issue with that on this team the way it is built.

Take the body. Finish your checks. Initiate. Take a hit to make the play. Get to the middle. Rudimentary things.

Satire? We're soft. Zibs, Kreider, Panarin, Strome, Chytil, Kakko the list goes on and on. We have SOME guys that take the body. The rest is the flubber of the upper most part of your thigh
Lol not a single team bullied us this season. Tom Wilson had like 2 hits in 3 games against us. We matched Tampa’s physicality in our series against them. We completely bullied the Pens and Canes physically. Where is this even coming from? What sparked this? This isn’t a soft team. The Leafs and Panthers are soft teams, we’re near top of the league in physicality. Trouba alone took out like 5 guys in the playoffs. Lindy took out Rakell for the series. Reaves is the toughest mf in the league. Lafreniere was going after Stamkos and Hedman, running around like a headless chicken in the playoffs. Schneider was playing the body whenever he could. K’Andre is slowly getting more and more aggressive, we saw a few elite plays where he utilized his body and size to easily brush guys off the puck.

We avoid contact. I'm talking about Panarin being ragdolled.

We have Ryan Reaves. No matter how much people shit on him he's nearly the entire reason we weren't 'bullied'.

Another element of softness is the mental softness, too many betas like Kakko. Imagine if Kakko didn’t give a f*** and just became a confident puck hog like Jagr and went around everybody and drove to the net. But he’s too shy. There’s so many times where he purposely doesn’t go into position to receive a pass, I’m almost certain that he does this because he doesn’t want to get passed to as he’s nervous he’ll screw up and he’d rather be a passenger.

Kravtsov came right out there in his first games pulling off the between the legs deke going around defenders and wasn’t afraid.

I still hold out hope for Kakko that he can become a Nichuskin type of player.... who was a major part of Colorado's success. I hope it doesn't take as long as it did for Nichuskin.

I don't want to say he's mentally weak but his 'attitude' leaves a lot to be desired.... waaaay too temperamental.. on a side note, that's why I love Laffy. He's the perfect hockey player mold IMO

Stand pat or go for it? The dilemma is real, isn't it? There are arguments, damn good ones, to be made on each side. The danger of standing pat is real. The danger of going for it is real.

I've come to terms with either direction Drury might make.

Let me relate a story. As I mention often, and I am sure many are tired of hearing it, I am in my early-mid 70s, with Ranger memories far back into the distant prehistoric past. When I was young (think twenties), I joked that it was likely that I would never see the Rangers win a Cup. In 1991, I was camping with my family in Terra Nova National Park in Newfoundland. We became friendly with a family from St. John's N.L. Naturally, we talked a lot of hockey. I remember telling them that when I joked, in my twenties, about going through my whole life w/o seeing the Rangers win a Cup, it was a joke. But now that I was in my 40s, it was not a joke any longer.

I'm sure many here feel the same way. Luckily, I had 1994 and for sure, that "memory will last a lifetime." But that was 28 years ago and I'm sure many fans now feel like I felt in 1991. And certainly, I want to see another. My two sons are both hardcore Ranger fans. In 1994, one was 13 and other 11 (his birthday was actually on the day they won the Cup). They certainly remember it, but they were kids and want to have an adult memory of their own now.

So, I perfectly understand those who want to go for it. BTW, both of my sons would rather not trade Chytil or KK.

But, I do understand the dilemma. No one ever said it is easy being a fanatic Ranger fan (or Met fan, or Jet fan, or now, a Giants fan, or a Knick fan).

So, I get it. If nothing else, this off season will be fascinating.

Back in March of this year, I had posted about the then geo-political climate and how in could affect North American hockey. Concerns over the sensitivity of the situation I decided to immediately delete my post.
The others day it was reported that Pavel Fedotov has been detained in his country.
After watching a draft preview press conference with Arizona G.M. Bill Armstrong, I was surprised that it appeared that he only started to equate the Fedotov news and Twitter news that Russian players may not be allowed to come to North America with how that may effect his team.
Not to much of a stretch to believe that the Russian government could call into conscription all male citizens ages 18-27 and recall all national’s in that age group living abroad to return home to serve.
First thoughts go out to all men that would be conscripted.
I would like to think that Drury is prepared for this scenario and that the NHL has also been preparing. If this comes to be, how will this affect the draft? How will this
effect the NHL and how will this effect the upcoming Ranger season?

Kravstov tucked his tail and ran home twice because someone said something that hurt his feelings. Talk about being mentally weak.

If he was so good and SO confident in himself and his abilities, why didn't he say "I'll just stay here and show you"? How come his response and reaction twice was "Waaaah I'm going home to see mommy and daddy!"? If the goal is to play in North America/the NHL, why has he continually done things to actively remove himself from NA? Maybe he's a decent player, but not much between the ears apparently. His support circle hasn't seemed to care much about him cultivating a career in NA either, despite that being the apparent goal.

If money is tight in free agency you might see guys take a 1 or 2 year deal and re-test the market later. I could see one or two of Strome/Copp/Trocheck being in that group.

He exercised a mutually agreed upon European out clause, maybe Drury doesn't have much in between his ears for signing that and then thinking he can send down their best prospect and he'll just put up with it instead of stand up for himself lol. This is all part of a performance art though and Kravtsov has already planned out his entire career, we're in Act II: The Redemption Arc now... more to come in my book

Kakko does lack confidence...that shy smirk the few times he scored...even during celebrations he seems like he is not sure on how to react...I say give him a shot of finish vodka before each period and maybe he will let loose

Strome will likely have surgery that keeps him out 6-8 months. That is a verifiable rumor

Cool sign him as a rental in the spring of 2023
