If the cap doesn't exist then he makes sense for us too.McDonagh to Toronto has made sense for a long time.

Dubas is GM’in for his job right now.If he's a genius, he'll stay away from McDonagh at this stage of his career.
They don’t need to take all the money back. If McDonagh is moving it’s gonna be to a good team. And good teams are up against the cap. It’s gonna have to be a compromise. TB can get some cap relief but there’s going to have to be some money going back. You’re thinking of Sean Day
Tampa isn’t taking money back. It’s why they need to move McD in the first place
Nah McDonagh has a couple good runs left in him. A team like the Leafs could really use a guy like McDonagh. I’m sure they’ll continue to dumpster dive though. If he's a genius, he'll stay away from McDonagh at this stage of his career.
Right you are. This is why you are the Most Valuable Poster. You’re thinking of Sean Day

Hell yeahRight you are. This is why you are the Most Valuable Poster.
Elliotte Friedman on the NHL Network. The Rangers are looking for a young player who doesn’t require waivers for Georgiev. Teams are saying you guys aren’t qualifying him so why should we give you that return. Teams are interested in Georgiev. He said Winnipeg isn’t trading Scheifele. He said term is a major sticking point in the talks with Strome.
That ain’t happening.Dylan Holloway please
Point remains. Many teams have had nice runs over time and still dropped off the next season. We need to improve if we want to win. We will not get back standing stillMontreal shouldn't even be in this conversation of comparison. Their 2 best players paid the Price (pun intended) with their careers while also drawing into the easiest and most unique playoff bracket thanks to the strict Canadian govt travel restrictions.
What's a legit return vs what's too much to give up?This won’t get it done for Puljujarvi.
He did what we all hope VK does, come back and totally resurrect his value. Edmonton was once close to trading him here for Lias Anderson.
Edmonton is gonna get a legit return for him.
Those Gilbert, Messier, Ratelle, and Hadfield lines are gross. The entire night. It’s all I can think about; I want Drury to pull the trigger on JT Miller. Slot this guy behind Zibanejad, let him center Panarin. $5.25M. Rental, whatever. You make a play for a C like that and retain this same roster, sign Motte, growth and maturity from the kids, Shesterkin, you have yourself a top team in the East with two playoff runs of experience in them in those 20 games. Assess next season. Chytil+Lundkvist package. “But then you lose Chytil in two years.” Okay, so you do what all good teams do and find a replacement in FA. That’s what your scouts are there for. Jones, Robertson, still here. More draft picks to be made. I need this.
Kreider-Zibanejad-Kakko
Panarin-Miller-Lafrenière
Blais-Goodrow-Kravtsov
Motte-Rydahl-Cuylle
Extras: Hunt-Brodzinski-Reaves
Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Jones-Schneider
Extra: Braun? Robertson? Hajek?
Shesterkin
Backup
Yes. But the improvement may come from within, so to speak.Point remains. Many teams have had nice runs over time and still dropped off the next season. We need to improve if we want to win. We will not get back standing still
St. Louis would make a lot of senseIt’s been reported by Friedman and others that TB is working with McD to find a suitable trade destination for him.
He will waive for the right spot and TB is willing to work with him on it.
Friedman said today to watch St. Louis
We do know how rentals work right? Combine that with Copp and Strome's 1 and only decent shot at a pay day with teams like Seattle with an open check book and guaranteed top 6 and PP1 time...I made a thread a few days ago about us being in major trouble… it was deleted .
It’s all coming to fruition and reality now .
In a few days Vatrano , Motte , Copp , Strome are all gone .
Because we are cap choked
We could also be on the verge a of wild panic move deal that completely blows up the system.
I don’t trust Drury at all …
New management and he wants to be there. Rutherford has done a great job overseeing the new standards for the executive group there.
So Staple says Gauthier requests a trade but is resigned. He could have just not accepted the QO and gone UFA.
most likely to get Schneider a more reliable partner. Get Fox a better partner. And Give Jones a RD anchor he can learn with the way Miller learned off of Trouba.Just out of curiosity, why break up Fox-Lindgren?
Friedman and the other insiders provide good content. However, they don't know the inner workings of every team.I think Friedman’s content is generally good and interesting but he’s so annoyingly self-important. With all the meaningful disclaimers and thoughtful pauses.
I thought the Blues wanted Chychrun. The Kings were supposedly the destination for Chychrun. They don't have the cap space. Where is that guy ending up? Which team is paying the bounty Arizona wants for the player? St.Louis needs to be careful with McDonagh. Too much money and term remaining. The Blues have a Thomas extension to plan for. ROR is a free agent next summer. Kyrou's contract. I know the Blues have been looking for a LD for a while. St. Louis will probably try to send Scandella's contract to TB. McDonagh would probably go to St.Louis because it's not far from Minnesota.St. Louis would make a lot of sense
There is a twitter account from Vancouver that sometimes has good information. All of the Vancouver media types follow him on twitter.
Some comments are trying to dismiss the tweet out of hand while someone said this guy is usually right.
Miller is a rental. He wants an eight year extension at $8M-$9M AAV.
The Athletic had a story on the Canucks a few days ago. Some fans were commenting how the Wild-Kings trade doesn't really help the Canucks cause. LA gave up a #1 pick and Faber for Fiala and the Kings signed Fiala to a 7 year extension. Miller is a rental for most of these teams. The Rangers don't have the cap space for an extension.
People tried to connect the Devils trading the 2nd pick overall for Miller or Fiala. Fitzgerald isn't doing that.
Ottawa at #7 liked Fiala but they didn't want to pay him nearly $8M AAV.
LA traded a #1 pick in a below to average draft and Faber who was seen his value increase since he was selected in the 2nd round a couple of years ago for Fiala with a seven year extension.
Flat cap NHL reality is setting in. We will see how many players get shutout on the free agent market and settle for less.
