Stanley is huge but isn’t he pretty soft. That was my impression. Not that he doesn’t use his body but he doesn’t seem to be an intense competitor which I think has been the MO of the rangers FO for the pst year or so. But maybe I’m wrong.

I haven’t followed him a ton, but he has stood out in a positive time a few times I’ve seen them.

Guys like that always face a big risk to get burnt badly, often that risks causing that they become too cautious on the ice. I can definitely imagine that he suffers a bit from that in any event.

With that said, it really tends to be night and day for these guys between playing for a struggling team and a more settled in team. It’s not like it’s without challenges to play for our team and there are no guarantees, but I got a good feeling for how he would perform here

Give me some PLD if all it takes is Chytil, Lundkvist & a 2nd.

And two of Fox, Shestyorkin, Laf, Kakko and Miller, to make it work under the cap. But sure, it’s probably a great idea to…

;)

Would Chytil, Lundkvist 1st move the needle if you were the Jets? Hardly. That's why it will be Schneider. If PLD really becomes available more teams than the Rangers will be interested. Lots of teams want/need a fast retool/fix this summer.

If Schnieder wasnt moved for JT.. Why do you think a half year and playoff later where Schnieder just got a serious course in what it takes to play in the NHL and playoffs?

Also Dubious wants out, and will be a free agent. They will get less of a return

I think Othmann is going to be here sooner than everyone thinks.

I have a hard time projecting the trajectory for these kids coming from the CHL. Guys like Jarvis were really complete and well rounded players. For many it’s quite the big step to just go to the AHL, not the mention the NHL. With that said, playing in Switzerland was definitely a good experience for Othman. Mens hockey is something else than juniors, even if the level of play is lower in the Swiss 2nd division.

I wouldn’t rule out that Othman could be ready 23/24, but I wouldn’t bet the house on it either. I do like him, a lot of growth potential.

There is a lot of recency bias with Chytil. I love the kid and was so happy to see him break out but if he can be packaged for PLD then you take it. Not concerned at all about the motivation problem. He will be playing in New York. Columbus and Winnipeg combined are literally smaller population wise than three of our boroughs.

I am, however, very against moving Kakko. He has immense potential. Just hasn't put it together. Bridge him for cheap and see him prove himself.

Agreed about Chytil, plus combined with his injury history and his next contract after this upcoming year (minimum $4.5M-$5M if he has a decent season), I'd definitely move him for PLD.

If Drury feels Dubois in as 2C, it makes zero sense to keep Chytil over Kakko. Kakko’s metrics suggests breakout if his summer training checks out and he becomes more assertive. He’s already a very strong two-way player. The points will come with confidence, more assertiveness, and more opportunity. Goodrow becomes 3C. Rydahl 4C or a Bellmare type $1M veteran.

It was here even after the trade. "Too interested in DJing, not prepping for the season." "Would rather be a football (soccer) player" etc
All nonsense off the ice from fans frustrated he took longer to develop. Not comparable to a player with a history of quitting on his teammates on the ice.

Sounds like kreider minus this past regular season
Think Kreider has been more consistent. And Kreider has never mailed it in on teammates. Fans may get frustrated with his play but that's not all that comparable to what pld has shown in his career

It won't be schneider.

I predict Kakko+Nils+2.
I don't think a winger does much for them, they don't have much trade value (see Buch, Fiala). The Jets will be very thin at C if PLD goes. They have Perfetti coming but he's probably a winger for some time. Nils isn't proven enough and a 2nd isn't much. Maybe Laf + Nils + 2nd, but the Rangers wouldn't do that. If no Schneider, Kakko + Chytil + Nils might do it.

It's not as if the Jets are in a hurry and have to sell for cheap this summer, and the Jets know the Rangers would do the trade with the explicit goal of winning within the next two years. PLD won't be cheap.

Well PLD has played 6 seasons. Chytil has played 5. KK has played 3.
PLD scored 20-27-18 in his first 3 seasons.
Chytil and KK have been well below those numbers.
I can not say what any of the 3 will be long term but style wise PLDs fast heavy type of game is something we are desperate for in the top 6.
I really encourage you to look at the old body of work and not just the limited high points.

Please. Please do not trade Kakko. It is too soon to move on. Way too soon.

If this Dubois talk is serious. Or even if someone else comes up, then it has to be Chytil going the other way. As much as I have come around on chytil due to that playoff performance, I still worry about inconsistencies and if he isn’t going to be the 2C it makes the most sense.

Chytil, 2nd, and who? I prefer to not deal Lundkvist.

Drury figures it out. We exponentially improve with that 1-2 punch down the middle.

It's as if being 6 wins away from a Stanley Cup didn't wake some people up a bit. We need a legit 2C. Here's a good chance to land one.

What if the deal were PLD for Lindgren + Chytil? No picks. It actually would resolve some of the cap crunch as well…

Also, on Motte; the Rangers decided to walk from Fast for what amounted to a 3rd year. Losing Fast had quite the trickle down effect on the lineup. Motte is a very similar player in the way he plays. I was expecting them to at least take a hard run at keeping him

where does Dubois really want to play, truthfully? Is it really MTL? Or does he just want to get to a big market to truly feel important and relevant? If he's playing on a stage like NY does he actually get better as a player because of it? There is way too many question marks with him but at the same time I know he's one of those pieces for a team that can get you over the hump, when he's unleashed that is.

I hope not, its been our main issue with developing players is rushing them into roles they aren't ready for then complaining when the results aren't there.
Othmann is in a weird position where he can’t play in the AHL next year but absolutely dominated in juniors.
Giving him some nhl time probably isn’t bad because it might let him see the difference closer. Not saying the whole season, but he should get a fair shot in camp and if he can take a 3rd line spot then give it to him.

If they acquire Dubois, is he taking Strome's PP spot?

If he is relegated to PP2 have to think he will immediately become "overpaid" similar to Trouba whose deal looks much worse now that he is playing 50 seconds less / game than he did he last season in Winnipeg on the PP when he had 18 PP points.

If he is taking Strome's spot, does that mean Lafreniere again will get very little PP time and be Kakko'd a year from now for "not performing"?

PLD will be RFA, not UFA. He's a unicorn, no matter what relatively proven C of his age rarely become available. The Jets will have several windows to move him if they are not happy with the deals they are offered this summer. For the Rangers this summer is the time to make the deal. The timing cuts both ways.

Nobody ever got worse from playing junior hockey, and it delays his big pay day, there is no rush. People all say he's already dominated there, so? Dominate again and maybe win the mem cup next year.
