why are we worried about TDL cap space. We will be out of the race by then. Rangers will be the ones getting picks for players. Blais, reaves probably TDL goners. This team is going to disappoint us this year. Our depth is terrible and our team is soft. Trochek looks bad. Kratsov looks bad. Shesterkin is not gonna be as good as last year. He will still be good but don’t expect the same numbers and Halak is worse than Georgiev. Only plus is that Kaako looks like he might be ready to take the next step.
Just make sure you put enough cement in your boots when you finally jump off that bridge man

No. We saw a 19 year old that got hurt in camp, didn't make the team, and then refused a conditioning assignment in the AHL and bolted home and likely delayed/hurt his NHL career and his team in the process. It didn't matter if it was Russia, Saskatoon, or Bryson City.

It's not "old head". It's adult. I wish him nothing but success with the Rangers NOW but he was certainly subject to criticism THEN.

If you aren’t cheering against him now then I’m not talking about you.

It's honestly about the same as last year when they had Shesterkin, Kreider, Fox carry the team the first two months of the season. McKegg and Hunt were getting regular time.

Halak is better than Georgiev.

A lot depends on that second line figuring it out. If Panarin is just a one man PP show it's going to be cause for concern. If him and Trochek can get on the same page, it's another weapon.

If Carpenter centers Panarin for any length this season, I will LOL at everyone here for dissing me :)

Honestly though, the easiest way to solve this is load up Panarin with Mika-Kreider, use the Kids as line two, and Goodrow-Trochek-Blais (and eventually Kravstov when Blais gets hurt) form a shutdown checking unit.

The fourth line can then be the useless cyclers.

Just an observation but I’m concerned about Lindgren. I know it was only Pre-season but it seemed his reaction time was off. Thinking he had more time than he actually did. Hope I’m wrong.

Surely we can upgrade over Hunt. I get keeping Reaves on the roster for his locker room presence and for keeping Tom Wilson and others in check. I even get (though I may not agree with it) keeping Carpenter for his PK ability, but what exactly does Hunt have/do that is irreplaceable? He hustles?

He's Gallant's "Tan-Tan".

When do we learn if Gauthier has gotten through waivers? For his sake I kind of hope he gets plucked.
A big fast player will get claimed . I suspect Habs or Ottawa .....maybe Philly . Somebody will look at that overall package and figure they can put that final touch on him . One way or the other...he has to either start scoring or else get more aggressive when he has that chance to do so . It's up to him now. Edited: I thought he was on a Memorial Cup winner .

The Rangers would not have been able to make the trade deadline moves last February with Buchnevich on the roster.
Would they have had to make those moves?

If they had kept Buch, even without an extension, do they need to rent Copp who ultimately cost them a 1st? He mostly played wing.

you could argue they wouldn't have had to.

they traded for Vatrano and to a lesser extent Copp specifically because we had no RW worth a damn.
Given their $30M+ excess cap space, they could've fit them all in.

Granted, I'm not sure they trade for Vatrano at that point. But just goes to the Buchnevich trade *also* cost the Rangers a 4th round pick.
