IMO, it also seems to be the Ranger way to magically find cap space to reward good soldiers who can no longer play (Staal/Girardi) or to sign bottom 6-ers with a cup ring to bloated contracts (Goodrow), or signing below replacement level players to contracts they don't deserve because "veteran presence" (Nemeth/Tinordi), but we apparently can't find cap space to sign a top 6 RW. I get that it's spilled milk - get over it, but I can't help but find it incredibly frustrating.

I'll shut up about it now.
You're not wrong.

Forwards that are NHL players
Panarin
Zibanejad
Kreider
Trocheck
Chytil
Lafrenier
Kakko
Goodrow
Blais (when healthy)

Forwards that are NHL prospects:
Kravtsov

Forwards that are a dime a dozen:
Reaves
Vesey
Carpenter
Hunt

If our team can’t in-house three forwards better than Carpenter, Vesey and Hunt we have issues.
Even if they average 1o minutes a night, we’re surrendering 1/6 of each game to our opponents.
Could be a long year.

Vesey and Hunt are fine as far as 4th liners go. If 4th liners were good players, they would be 3rd liners.

Yep, people get the misconception because the Rangers issues for decades has been that we take an unskilled 4th line player who is fine in that role and force him into 12-14 minutes a night with skilled players on scoring lines

Look, Buch didn't have to go, and its not even close to the most painful trade (the Zucc one hurt more even if it was a rebuild move), but he did and thats okay I didn't lose sleep over it.

But a mistake is a mistake, may as well move on and try to fix it a different way as opposed to pretending and oft-injured bottom 6er will ever consistently stay in the lineup or even fill a top 6 role.

The point of my original post wasn't to rehash the Buch trade, it was to say we already lost, no sense holding on to Blais hoping for something thats not going to happen just because you don't want to ADMIT the defeat you suffered in a trade.

Cut your losses, move on, look for a different solution
The Rangers couldn’t have afforded $5.8M for Buchnevich.

We’ve been rebuilding since 2018 and we couldn’t develop two players that are capable of 10 minutes a night on the fourth line.
So instead we are icing a 26 year old who couldn’t hold a spot in Arizona and a 29 year old that lottery team New Jersey said we don’t have a spot on our roster for you.

If Kravtsov isn't getting top six time it's not because of Vesey. It's because of Kravtsov. If Vesey wasn't here someone else would just get that ice time if Kravtsov doesn't take it and show anything.

Krav needs to get in more games and adjust. It does nothing to have him sitting there. Hes been in what -40 NHL games?

Like I said a couple days ago slotting Krav there instead of Vesey doesnt make or break the team.

So Lets get this guy some ice time and hope he can adjust, and if not we can get rid of him knowing he had a fair amount of chances and a bit of a showcase for other teams.

We probably have developed players capable of that. When it comes to the 4th line, there's a massive bias towards veteran players.

How about claiming Wayne Simmonds as depth once Gauthier either gets claimed or clears and then waive Dryden Hunt.

Simmonds is RW goes to the net can fight had leadership is still a tough forward.

why are we worried about TDL cap space. We will be out of the race by then. Rangers will be the ones getting picks for players. Blais, reaves probably TDL goners. This team is going to disappoint us this year. Our depth is terrible and our team is soft. Trochek looks bad. Kratsov looks bad. Shesterkin is not gonna be as good as last year. He will still be good but don’t expect the same numbers and Halak is worse than Georgiev. Only plus is that Kaako looks like he might be ready to take the next step.

Based on what? It is the popular opinion.... why? No clue.

If we’re out of the playoff race come TDL time, Gallant should be unemployed.

And people say I'm negative. This is before one regular season game was played. At least I wait for losses to be negative.

Prediction no matter how goood or bad we are. If we make or miss the playoffs ticket prices will rise again about 15%.

Lots of teams in the east improved and the rangers didn’t improve they actually got worse.

Worse, maybe since the deadline. Not worse than they were pre-deadline. Also, seriously go somewhere else with your negativity before a game was played.
