Not trying to pick a fight or anything but is this really what we should do?

Just give him an entire season in this lineup and see what happens?

Maybe I've just already concluded that he's gone and really this camp was his Hail Mary last shot... at this point had he made it and proved he should be here I guess I'd view it as house money won.

As such I'm not shocked he's gone

Nobody said to give him the whole season, i said he should atleast have a full season under his belt before we discard him. Every kid we've introduced here struggled to start, outside of Fox and Shesterkin. Forget about the past two years and think of the future because if he even realizes 80 percent of his potential this year it would be huge for our chances as having a useful player on entry level deal will allow us to spend elsewhere. Not sure why everyone feels he left them and hooked up with the neighbor but it's pretty silly.

Theoretically speaking, at what point on the calendar could we trade for Chychrun at 50% ($2.3M )

The overreaction to Kravtsov's pre-season games is mind numbing but not surprising here. Just like any prospect he needs time at this level to acclimate to it. Laf, Kakko, Buch, Chytil etc all went through it. I have no idea why people are rooting against him.
You don’t have any idea?

I can tell you.

He went back to Russia and we have a lot of old head types here who refuse to support him because of outdated notions like “he’s a quitter and he’ll never succeed/we don’t want him.” Our GM has a streak of that outdated philosophy as well.

Do we really have to sign Vesey? He’s so blah
I’d rather see Kravtsov up there even if he’s struggling just because I know there’s still a chance something clicks within him.

We 100% know Vesey is just meh by now.

what makes him better than those two?
Better all around game, can PK, and can actually chip in on offense. Hunt is nothing at all but a plug who can check a little, I want him gone.

Brodz at least has some burst but apparently no skill. They both belong in the AHL.

Hunt is better as a 4th liner. PK is the only advantage

Why can’t Hunt PK? He’s not slow and he’s a hound on the puck. People treat PKing like it’s some special skill.

Seems like people are starting to see how flawed this forward group construction was. And they were never going to put panarin with zib once they signed Vinny. The Vinny signing was done entirely with the CK/zib and bread/Vinny pairings in mind. That's what they committed themselves to long term. Enjoy...

They are going to have to look externally, and I’m not talking about waivers

You may end up being right but taking a victory lap before the season starts is a bit… premature.

That's not what I'm doing. I've actually posted in the Vinny thread that anyone that was for the signing needs to wait until 20 games into the season before they really can form the opposite opinion, you can't make a hard change on that from preseason. I was against the contract but I liked the player, regardless this mix is not a good mix and it boxes you into these two pairs.

It's funny that the best solution may actually lead to trocheck being this teams 3rd line center which is exactly what I said months ago he would be best served as on a true contender

The best decision might not be to break the kids up to spread them around to help fix the vet pairings that need help 5v5, it may be best to keep the kids together and just force zib, Kreider, and panarin to just figure it out together 5v5. I also stand by the fact that Vinny on pp1 is not a good decision.

There is a difference in making a statement and taking a victory lap. I'm simply standing by everything I said while others are starting to see the same stuff. There's still time for things to change and I hope I'm wrong.

Also it is really great to see kakko and laffy taking more steps even if it preseason. It's nice to see them more assertive and confident

I don't think it's an issue

They are sticking with Kreider-Zib and Panarin-<Center> because that's what worked last year
If it doesn't work this year they'll mix it up.

Trochek and Panarin look like they're still learning a bit to play with each other but have still looked quite good at times and generated good chances, I think it'll workout just fine once the season gets going. The RW spot on that line is an issue but it's kind of been an issue forever. It'll sort itself out I believe. Seen some stuff out of Trocheck that looks real good and a few gafs that seem more in the line of settling into a new team

Gallant thinking Trocheck needs to play Strome's role on the PP just because he's supposedly filling his spot at 5v5 is asinine.

Trocheck and Panarin can still work at even strength but they're going to need an actual player on the right side unlike Panarin/Strome who seemingly functioned better with plugs who would just run around hitting things and covering up their offensive zone turnovers.

It is way too early but I would not be surprised if Chytil ends up Panarin's center ala Dubinsky when Jagr couldn't make it work with Drury and Gomez.

Panarin - Zibanejad - Kravtsov
Lafreniere - Chytil - Kakko
Kreider - Trocheck - Blais
Vesey - Goodrow - Reaves

Stack the first line, kids line 2nd line
Not rocket science

Watching how amped these boys will be to revenge pound Tampa next game, I still wanna see Krav with bread. I think he will be feelin' it.

We're all set to get the season rolling in the best possible way. I want to see big game Krav on the 11th. Wash away whatever this preseason was for him. 5C and all.
