That's not what I'm doing. I've actually posted in the Vinny thread that anyone that was for the signing needs to wait until 20 games into the season before they really can form the opposite opinion, you can't make a hard change on that from preseason. I was against the contract but I liked the player, regardless this mix is not a good mix and it boxes you into these two pairs.

It's funny that the best solution may actually lead to trocheck being this teams 3rd line center which is exactly what I said months ago he would be best served as on a true contender

The best decision might not be to break the kids up to spread them around to help fix the vet pairings that need help 5v5, it may be best to keep the kids together and just force zib, Kreider, and panarin to just figure it out together 5v5. I also stand by the fact that Vinny on pp1 is not a good decision.

There is a difference in making a statement and taking a victory lap. I'm simply standing by everything I said while others are starting to see the same stuff. There's still time for things to change and I hope I'm wrong.

Also it is really great to see kakko and laffy taking more steps even if it preseason. It's nice to see them more assertive and confident
🤔 Why is reading your post giving me flashbacks to Bobby Holik?

I actually prefer Tinordi to Hajek. He at least provides some grit and toughness although he sucks at fighting.

Did anyone say trophies? Oh he has trophies.
This many days until opening night.

The Rangers could squeeze a 23-man roster under the cap to start the season, but they won't want to go that route for very long. Accruing cap space for the trade deadline is a priority and each day of carrying 23 will diminish their potential total

The Blais injury could force the Rangers to carry another extra forward. Gallant said Blais should be fine. Blaid will be reevaluated by the Rangers medical staff today.

Lindgren and Trouba are dealing with injuries. Nothing major. The Rangers had ample cap space last season and they didn't suffer many major injuries. Blais suffered a torn ACL and missed most of the season. Kakko missed nearly 40 games with the hand surgery and lower body injury suffered late last season.

If the Rangers carry another forward, they will enter the season with less than $200,000 in cap space.

He went back to Russia and we have a lot of old head types here who refuse to support him because of outdated notions like “he’s a quitter and he’ll never succeed/we don’t want him.” Our GM has a streak of that outdated philosophy as well.

No. We saw a 19 year old that got hurt in camp, didn't make the team, and then refused a conditioning assignment in the AHL and bolted home and likely delayed/hurt his NHL career and his team in the process. It didn't matter if it was Russia, Saskatoon, or Bryson City.

It's not "old head". It's adult. I wish him nothing but success with the Rangers NOW but he was certainly subject to criticism THEN.

Why is Hunt better as a 4th liner? Checking?

I think that’s overrated, I think I’d rather a guy who is better at other stuff.
He’s much better at defense and preventing chances. That’s what I want my 4th line to be

They both suck at scoring.

Poor Sammy. Really must feel so shitty that your body just can’t keep up with the demands of the game.
If there ever was a hockey player to take HGH, it should be Sammy Blais

He’s better than Gauthier. He at least uses his size and is not that soft.
Gauthier used his size and speed to crash nets...happens almost every game he plays in . Goals will go in eventually . Kostin has no speed ...4th liner and a slow one . Pointless to trade one for the other ...maybe trade for a draft pick or as a bigger deal then yes by all means ...Rangers lose all around in that deal one on one for Kostin .

Will be interesting to see who we waive today. Bartowski is a certain one to be released from his PTO. Vesey gets a contract? Will we also make a trade? Maybe. Thereafter, the identity of the players to be put on waivers are murky waters between what I would like to see (as would probably most posters here) and what I think what will happen. Time. Will. Tell.

Let Vesey go.

Bartkowski gone.

Gauthier, Tinordi waived.

Blais to LTIR.

Gauthier dealt to Montreal for a 4th round pick.

Rangers pick up a winger on waivers

Is how I think it'll go.

Blais is the sort of player teams overpay to acquire (like Drury did), the game he brings if he could actually stay healthy is a great asset. But this is exactly why I was leaning toward wanting to see Drury recoup what he could for him in the summer. An extra draft pick would've been nice. Feel like it's a waste of cap space and a contract slot.. and I hate to say that because Blais could be a fan favorite, I just don't trust that he can stay healthy

so if we let vesey go/ who the f*** is on the wings?
We have CK/Laf/Kakko/Kratsov/Panarin
So then we're left with goodrow again in the top 6?
Yeah no, i'd rather vesey in the top 6 than goodrow.
Vesey will take a league min deal, we'll have the space for it if we move gauthier.

Yeah thats not how that works. If you dont have a shot, the goalies will just play the body essentially. And he's gonna just keep getting penalties.
He cant manage to get a shot off in that scenario, and he cant score. He's luis mendoza with brakes but no hands.

Julien Gauthier played a ton of games last year accomplishing virtually nothing, but he also only had 8 penalty minutes, it's fair to say he got better at one thing
