To me Kravtsov is at the point in the process that Buchnevich was at when he got here. Not enough man strength to dominate, its unfortunate that last year happened but he's gonna go through some growing pains for atleast the next year or so.
Except that Buch always looked like he was close and just needed to become "American Buch" whereas Kravtsov looks like he'd be a great "Allstar game" type player or skills comp but otherwise doesn't do anything to actually PLAY the game of hockey

The kid line is good, but splitting them up imo makes the team better. I'm seeing a better Chytil this year, i think he finally realizes what style of player he is and is starting to stick to that. Last year i would have said he needs Laf and Kakko to be good but from what I've seen in playoffs and especially this preseason i dont doubt he can help carry a 3rd line and maybe even push the pace of it. Imo the best lines for success are this.

Panarin Zibanejad kreider (Thats a lot to contain at once)
Laf Trochek kakko
Blais chytil Kravtsov
Vesey Goodrow Reaves/Hunt

They look exactly the same when Buch got here. Bambi legs, bad core strength, exactly the same. I think people forget how much Buch was up and down the lineup and scratched when he was first here, and it was basically him just not being strong enough.
I'm not sure how anyone can make a conclusion as to what type of player he is based on a couple preseason games playing with guys he's never played with before. He's gonna need some runway like most first year Nhl'ers, I'm not sure why thats lost on some.

I was a harsh critic of Buch right from the start... I remember the "bambi legs" etc

I also remember a player who wasn't completely lost in processing the game. He struggled with it @ times but you could see the gears turning.

Kravtsov is like the guy that walks onto the 1st tee juggling the ball off the clubface like Tiger and then scull f***s every shot on the course.

Fancy? Sure.

Until it matters.

Kravtsov is not & won't be an NHL player

Until it matters lol like in the playoffs where he leads his team in scoring virtually every year since before he was even drafted and crushes his regular season stats
He raises his game when it matters

So far, on this continent, it hasn't mattered to him.

Maybe it won't at all.

Like ever.

You should go back to hating Trouba in every post... at least he plays for the NYR

How can Kravstov not be strong enough at this stage? He played NHL games TWO seasons ago, he knows the league, and he's not a kid kid anymore, he'll turn 23 in December. He had a long off season to prepare himself physically and mentally for this crucial season yet he presents himself in his wet noodle version?

Its a scary thing to think about, for sure...yet another 1st round pick of ours not panning out.

I wonder how much the younger generation focuses on skill because you see this fancy stick work on social media and of course thats what they try to emulate during practices to show off fo their friends.

You hear guys say "lets see ylu pull that off during a game" and for these naturally gifetd guys like VK, they CAN until the competition level really ramps up and they have less ice to work with.

I havent been able to watch much presason hockey this year so i havent noticed, but hopefully his defensive and play without the puck isnt so far behind that he becomes another bust.

I know its early and hes still young, but maybe when Panarin allows him to get back on social media, he starts watching tiktoks of guys play away from the puck so hes not a one trick pony.

The reporters thought it was the mean comments that Kravtsov was reading on social media that were affecting him, but really he has a compulsive addiction to watching Zac Bell/Pavel Barber stick tricks on TikTok. Panarin is giving him an intervention

That's the only version there is.

Anyone who's played at a decent level, in ANY sport... then tried to move up knows that process and that feeling of deflation.

If you hit your ceiling it's over.

It's nice to see that some teams (CGY/COL) are willing to cut bait with former first round picks that haven't worked out (Valimaki/Bowers/Kaut) while we're out here still trying to make Kravtsov (and Hajek, for that matter) a thing even though he's never shown he's anything better than a good KHL player.

The reason not to claim Kostin is because he isn't good. And as such all 31 teams did not put in a claim on him despite having a league minimum salary.

The overreaction to Kravtsov's pre-season games is mind numbing but not surprising here. Just like any prospect he needs time at this level to acclimate to it. Laf, Kakko, Buch, Chytil etc all went through it. I have no idea why people are rooting against him.
